Jura Ena 8 vs E8: Which is the better machine? Both machines are flagships of the Jura brand, so it is a hard-fought battle to determine who the winner is. I’ve tested both and figured out the winner: The E8.
The Jura E8 is part of the Jura E-series coffee machines, which have a reputation for providing many drink options and being user-friendly. It is more expensive, but when looking at its advanced features, you’ll know it’s worth the money.
The Jura Ena 8 is the most recognized model from the Jura ENA series. Although small, it still comes with all the punches from the brand to take your coffee experience to the next level. Despite the fact that it is the runner-up, it still gives you smooth and delicious espresso.

Jura Ena 8 Vs E8: Key Differences
The E8 wins against the Ena 8 with a score of 5 – 1. This super-automatic machine offers more preset drinks, has a big but not bulky water tank and bean hopper, and can brew two cups of coffee simultaneously. Better yet, it does everything for you, from pulling shots to cleaning the machine.
ESPRESSO TASTE

The Winner: Jura E8
Grinder
Both Jura Ena 8 and E8 have Jura’s advanced style Aroma G3 grinder, which is quieter, faster, and energy-efficient. The ENA 8 has a sharper grinder with wider blades, which allow it to grind finer and smoother while producing less coffee residue.
Also, the Ena 8’s grinder is significantly faster than the E8’s, which is both a blessing and a curse. It means that the former will grind coffee beans faster to save you precious time. On the downside, the heat from the fast-moving blades will heat up the coffee ground and negatively affect the flavors.
On the other hand, the Jura E8 boasts a pre-ground powder chute, which allows you to add pre-ground coffee for quicker brewing. So if you are a decaf coffee drinker, you won’t go wrong with this model.
Brewing Technique
The Jura E8 has a reputation for producing excellent espressos quickly. This model has two pouring spouts to brew two cups of coffee simultaneously. It also features a 1.8L water tank, which means you can brew quite a few cups of coffee before refilling it.
On the flip side, the Ena 8 can only make one cup of coffee at a time, while its water container is half the size of the Jura E8’s.
Besides these differences, these gadgets are pretty similar. For example, they have an aroma-preserving cover to contain the flavor of the ground. Where the Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System (IPBAS) delivers maximum saturation, the Thermoblock keeps heat. So there are no burning, hot spots, and odd tastes.
These babies come with Jura’s P.E.P (Pulse Extraction Process) technology, which optimizes the extraction time to give you a creamy and delicious espresso.
Temperature Control
While both units have the Thermoblock heating technology, the Jura E8 has a special temperature control that could not be found in the other: The Intelligent Preheating feature. It will make the first coffee mug piping hot and shorten the waiting time.
Coffee Specialties
The Jura Ena 8 can make up to 10 beverages, while the menu of the E8 includes up to 17 preset drinks! It’s obvious that if you prefer variety in coffee specialties, the latter is your best bet. That is not to mention it can make a coffee beverage with a double shot!
MILK SYSTEM
The Winner: Jura E8
The E8 has a separate milk system to give users additional control over their milk-based drinks and sports the Fine Foam Frother G2 technology for optimal steaming and frothing. In addition, this machine will make your life easier with a one-touch cleaning mechanism for its milk system to keep it always in brand-new condition.
The Ena 8 doesn’t own a separate milk system like that. Its milk spout is located next to the coffee spout and automatically prepares milk-based drinks. Its frothing system is the Fine Foam and Cappuccino Frother, and you must rinse its system after each use to keep it free from milk molecules.
UTILITIES
The Winner: Jura Ena 8
E8 and Ena 8 are both exclusive coffee makers of Jura. As a result, it’s no surprise that they have the best technologies of this brand.
I appreciate that both E8 and Ena 8 have built-in grinder and frother. That means it is unnecessary to spend time and money to buy separate products.
Adding to their convenience are that these units are equipped with extra features for cleaning and maintenance, including self-cleaning, anti-calc, calc-clean, and rinsing functions. Other shared features are cup illumination, a hot water system, an energy-saving mode, and an auto shut-off system.
On the other hand, several features and utilities are unique to each machine. For instance, the Ena 8 features a water level indicator that shows how much water is in its water tank.
Both machines allow you to fine-tune the espresso strength, but the E8 delivers eight settings while the Ena 8 gives users 10. Plus, the adjustable coffee spout height range of the latter is wider than that of the former.
In this round, the score comes to Ena 8.
DESIGN & CONVENIENCE
The Winner: Jura E8
At first glance, both these machines look sleek and modern. Their neat control panel feature a similar type and size of LCDs.
In matters of colors, the Ena 8 is available in red and metallic, whereas its competitor comes with two neutral colors of black and stainless steel.
Regarding the dimensions, the E8 is larger but lighter than the Ena 8. They measure 17.3 x 11 x 13.8 inches and 17.5 x 10.7 x 12.7 inches, respectively. The former weighs 21.6 lbs, and the weight of the other 20.7 lbs. This isn’t a noticeable difference.
As you can see, both machines have roughly the same specifications. There are differences, but they aren’t noticeable. I’ll give the winning ticket to the E8 this time as it’s more compact and offers more convenience.
CAPACITIES

The Winner: Jura E8
The E8’s water reservoir and bean hopper are bigger than the Ena 8’s. So the former can brew more espressos at a time compared to its competitor. The E8’s hopper is also approximately two times bigger than the Ena 8’s.
When it comes to the used coffee grounds container, the Jura E8 excels here as well. Its container can store 16 pucks, while the ENA 8’s can only hold 10 pucks.
What the Ena 8 has in its favor is delivering more space for taller mugs. Its adjustable spout can be raised up to 3.2 inches, while the E8 offers 1.8 inches.
DESCALING AND MAINTENANCE
The Winner: Jura E8
Jura E8 sports the Claris Smart Water Filter Cartridge, a state-of-the-art cleaning and maintenance technology. It also boasts an automatic cleaning, descaling, and rinsing mode to keep the machine clean. Moreover, it monitors the drip tray to alert you when you need to empty it.
On the flip side, the Ena 8 has the CLARIS Smart mini system and the same cleaning mechanisms and functions but features a smaller water filter system.
The E8 also outshines its competitor thanks to its separate automatic cleaning mechanism for the milk system, which keeps it clean, stain-free, and clog-free. Meanwhile, you will have to rinse the ENA 8’s milk system on your own after each use.
Jura Ena 8 Vs E8: Similarities

These machines share the 3D brewing technology, which releases the hot water into the coffee grounds in many layers to ensure maximum smoothness, aroma, and rich crema.
These single-thermoblock machines also have the same 15-bar pressure system, pulse extraction process, ten brew strength levels, and three brewing temperature levels.
They allow you to monitor their status from their bright LCD displays, one of the nice-to-have additions from Jura. You can even choose the drinks and customize these machines remotely by connecting them to your smartphone through the J.O.E. app.
Finally, both of them are equipped with energy-saving features with a programmable switch-off timer. So these gadgets will be turned off if they have been idle for a while.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
