In the debate of Gaggia Cadorna Prestige vs Jura E8, this article is my answer. For a quick answer, the winner is the E8, and the runner-up is the Gaggia.
With a wide range of programmable features and amazing brewing techniques, the Jura E8 really impressed me. You can customize the amount of water, the coffee strength and temperature, the amount of milk/milk foam, and more. Meanwhile, the P.E.P. technology still ensures that every cup of espresso produced is rich and delicious. In addition, the ability to clean easily, quickly, and automatically is also an indispensable plus of this machine.
With Gaggia Cadorna Prestige, its integrated carafe works automatically and creates the perfect milk froth every time. Besides, 4 user profiles allow you to save your drink settings for later, and 14 types of coffee drinks provide you with many drink options. I would say that this is a great and affordable choice, especially for those who love lattes or cappuccinos.

Gaggia Cadorna Prestige vs Jura E8: Differences
The Jura E8 wins 4 – 1 against Gaggia Cadorna Prestige for its coffee flavor, milk system, cleaning, and other utilities. Here are detailed analyses of the strengths and weaknesses of each machine.
coffee flavor
The winner: Jura E8
Grinder
In terms of the grinding system, Gaggia Cadorna Prestige is slightly better than Jura E8.
The blade of Gaggia’s grinder is made from ceramic, which material is well-known for its durability and non-conducting property that preserve coffee grounds from burning and ruining the original flavor. In addition, this machine also offers 10 grind settings that give users more control over their espresso by adjusting the fineness of the ground.
Meanwhile, the E8 offers 4 fewer grind settings than its opponent. Although sharper, its stainless steel burr grinder is less durable and long-lasting than the Gaggia. Stainless steel is also a better conductor of heat than ceramic, so it may increase the ability to burn coffee during the grinding process, especially when you use well-roasted coffee beans.
However, the plus point for the E8’s grinding system is the AromaG3 blender, the upgraded version. The speed of this grinder has been improved by being twice as fast as its predecessor. The blade covering more area inside the device helps reduce the number of coffee grounds left after each session.
Heating system
The heating systems of these two machines have obvious differences. In particular, Jura E8 comes with a single thermoblock heating system, while Gaggia Cadorna Prestige comes with a Quickheat single boiler.
What both these systems have in common is heating up quickly and efficiently in less than 1 minute. However, according to my experience, the E8 with thermoblock technology has a shorter heating time and a better ability to deliver freshly heated water every time than its opponent.
Brewing technique
When it comes to brewing techniques, you’ve probably heard of Jura’s Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.). Many of Jura’s espresso machines out there are equipped with this technology, including the E8. As I have learned, the ideal shot-pulling time is between 20 and 30 seconds, and this Jura’s technique delivers precisely that.
With P.E.P., the extraction time can be optimized by forcing hot water through ground coffee in a short time, and then the flavor of the coffee comes out better preserved. And be assured that this process is quick but not rushed at all. Your espresso comes out even better without becoming bitter, too watery, or saturated.
As for the Gaggia, pre-brewing is a great feature that you should not miss when considering this machine. This is a phase of the extraction process that allows the coffee’s aromas to develop fully, and not all super-automatic espresso machines are featured it.
Another thing that impresses me about the Cadorna Prestige is that it can make two drinks simultaneously with two automatic grind cycles for full strength. To explain, the Cadorna will grind and brew twice. As soon as you make your selections, the burr grinder will double the number of coffee grounds for the cups and the same for the brewing mechanism.
Espresso quality

Apart from its signature P.E.P. technology, the Jura E8 offers a range of programmable and adjustable features that help users customize their coffee drinks. There are 8 levels of coffee strength settings, 3 levels of brewing temperature settings, and 3 levels of hot water temperature settings. You also can alter the dose from 5 grams to 16 grams while the ideal brewing conditions and pressure are still ensured. Moreover, you can adjust the amount of water, milk, and milk foam.
On the Gaggia, although you don’t get as many customization options as the E8, you can still basically adjust the coffee length, coffee temperature, and milk length.
If Gaggia Cadorna only has the pre-brewing feature, the Jura E8 combines some pre-infusion time with P.E.P technology. As a result, the espresso made from the E8 is also deeper, richer, and creamier with more crema.
milk system
The winner: Jura E8
The good news is that both the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige and Jura E8 offer the great milk systems you can expect. The milk foam is rich, smooth, and absolutely good for lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and more.
With Gaggia Cadorna, the automatic milk frother comes with an integrated carafe. Honestly, this one works really well and produces beautifully frothed milk every time. You can keep the carafe in the refrigerator and attach it back to the front of the machine anytime you want. Also, this system offers an automatic cleaning cycle after each use so that you don’t have to clean milk residue from hoses and pipes. However, when I tried to use soy milk to make drinks, it seemed to be frothed or heated well in the carafe. Hence, this is a note for any coffee lover who is also a vegetarian.
Instead of an integrated carafe, Jura E8 offers an interchangeable milk spout that you can put into any milk container you have. On this machine, in addition to adjusting the amount of milk, you can also adjust the amount of milk foam. It’s a simple and intuitive setting that allows you to decide the foam volume to make the milk texture creamier or lighter. This is a feature that you cannot find on the Gaggia. And, of course, it also automatically rinses and descales with a one-touch cleaning program.
clean and maintain
The winner: Jura E8
Both machines generally have some auto-cleaning features, such as the auto-cleaning milk system I mentioned above. However, there are still differences that make Jura E8 more advantageous.
With Gaggia, the descaler is easy to use and works efficiently. When it’s time to descale, the machine will alert you. Then, you need to practice descaling the machine according to the steps in the manual or from the demonstration video on Gaggia’s official Youtube channel. Additionally, the machine also offers the Brita Intenza+ water filter, which you can use to prevent scaling.
In the meantime, thanks to the CLEARYL filter, you won’t need to descale the E8. The machine will do itself. All you need to do is change the filter when alerted by the device.
programmable drinks
The winner: Gaggia Cadorna Prestige

Compared to the Jura E8, the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige offers a wider selection of programmable drinks.
With the E8, the machine will overwhelm you with a list of 12 programmable specialties from which you can freely choose your favorite drink. Not only espresso, but you can also create a variety of milk-based drinks with the same quality as high-end coffee shops, such as flat whites, latte macchiatos, cappuccinos, etc., or even use hot water to make tea.
As for the Gaggia, you even get more choices of beverages than the machine above. Besides 14 different coffee drinks, you are provided with 4 user profiles, and with each such profile, you can program your own drink recipes and save them for next time. There’s no way someone in the family accidentally deleted your favorite drink recipe because everyone already has a different profile. That sounds actually great, right?
UTILITIES
The winner: Jura E8
Another outstanding feature that couldn’t be missed when reviewing this E8 is The JURA Operating Experience (J.O.E.®), a Jura App.
This app lets you control the Jura espresso machine with your smartphone or tablet. J.O.E.® is compatible with all JURA coffee machines equipped with the Jura Bluetooth Smart Connect device. With the E8, this Bluetooth device is an option.
Overall, the app offers other options for controlling the machine and adjusting settings for each beverage. You can even track how much water and beans are left after each brew.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
