Jura E6 Vs E8: Is It Worth Paying An Extra $1000 For The Jura E8?

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

Both the Jura E6 vs E8 are worth the price for home espresso. But if I had to choose just one, I’d go with the Jura E8 as the best option.

The Jura E8 is a better choice if you don’t mind the high price. With Jura E8, y ou get a higher level of programmability and more specialty coffee. Customers who often drink coffee drinks and milk-based drinks like cappuccino and latte macchiato would benefit greatly from its superior brewing technique and milk system.

You might choose Jura E6 if you want to save around $1000 and are interested in having something that is lightweight. Though it does not come with as many useful features as the E8, this machine is a reliable one considering its cost.

Jura E6 vs E8: Differences

In comparison to the E6, the Jura E8 is the superior performer. The Jura E8 wins 5–0 because it has more features and a more advanced milk system that will give you better coffee flavor. It comes with some utilities that make it easier to use. In addition, cleaning and maintenance are a breeze.

1. Espresso Flavor

The Winner: Jura E8

+ Grinder Settings

In terms of grinding settings, the E8 is superior to the E6. You will have access to the 5 basic settings with the E6. These include fine, medium-fine, regular, medium-coarse, and coarse level.

The E8 includes twice as many of these options, for a total of ten different levels to grind your coffee. These are extra-fine, fine, medium-fine, regular, medium-coarse, coarse, extra-coarse, ultra-fine, steel-cut oats, and rice. When we have a variety of grinding options, we have a great deal more control over the beverage.

I truly appreciate this feature because I like strong coffee. The flavor of the coffee did not meet my expectations until I started grinding it into an extremely coarse consistency. And this is something that can only be done with the Jura E8. That’s why the E8 got my vote.

+ Coffee Drinks

The best thing about getting a high-end coffee maker is that you can make many different kinds of coffee with it. Both the Jura E6 and the Jura E8 are capable of producing all of the classic espresso drinks.

Jura E6 comes with six different coffee drinks
Jura E6 comes with six different coffee drinks

The E6 comes with six different coffee drinks or “specialties”, which are espresso, cappuccino, and regular coffee. You may choose to brew either a single or a double shot at the touch of a button.

On the other hand, the E8 comes with a great deal more and significantly better preset beverages. It offers a total of 16 different beverages. While the E6 only offers one milk-based beverage, a cappuccino, the Jura E8 not only delivers classic drinks but also a number of other trendy milk-based beverages, such as lattes, flat whites, and latte macchiatos.

So, the Jura E8 can accommodate a wider variety of tastes.

+ Beverage Customization

With either the E6 or E8, coffee drinkers may adjust the coffee’s strength, temperature, and amount of milk or milk foam.

The E8 has a greater level of programmability, with 10 levels of brew strength and 3 level of temperatures. The E6 model, on the other hand, has only 8 levels of coffee strength and 2 level of adjusting temperatures.

Is it important? Yes. The greater the number of programmable levels, the greater the capacity to cater to the preferences of each individual. And in fact, I find that the coffee I make with the Jura E8 always gets hotter and stays hotter for longer.

3. Milk System

The Winner: Jura E8

Fine-tune the texture of milk froth on Jura E8

Both the E8 and the E6 feature Fine Foam technology for their automactic milk system. But the E8’s milk system is a bit more advanced than the E6’s because it gives more flexibility and control. Milk can be steamed or frothed using the frother on the E8, which is controlled by a little dial on the unit.

Some people might not care about being able to switch between frothed and poured milk, but I find this feature very important and useful. I do like a latte cup with both a milk stream and milk foam on top. On my Jura E8, I just have to rotate the dial to get this. The Jura E8 makes the best latte, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and flat white milk.

The E6 does not have that ability. The Jura E6 is capable of producing hot milk that is both creamy and foamy, perfect for use in its cappuccino. But, that’s all! There is no option for lattes or any other milk-based drinks.

4. Utilities

The Winner: Jura E8

+ Smart Connect App

You can pair the Jura E8 with your smartphone or tablet
You can pair the Jura E8 with your smartphone or tablet

Isn’t it better when you can just use your phone to control things? Buying the Jura E8 will let you connect the machine to your phone. This gives you access to the entire coffee menu, as well as the cleaning programs and power mode of the machine.

I like the way that I can literally make a cup of coffee without leaving the room, just by pressing the espresso icon on the app. To do that, I have to put a cup ready under the spout before. I can also program the temperature and strength, and adjusting the volume like I am physically at the machine.

Unfortunately, such a wireless connection is not supported by the Jura E6. You might see a Wi-Fi icon on the interface, but Smart Connect connectivity is not supported.

+ Pre-Ground Coffee

The bypass doser allow us to use pre-ground coffee through a small chute. This is a very handy feature if you want to brew a decaf espresso or when you just want to try a different pre-ground espresso.

As a result, the types of coffee you can use with the E6 are limited in comparison to the S8 because the E8 has bypass doser but the E6 does not. So, if you like decaf drinks like I do, the Jura E8 would be a better choice.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

The Winner: Jura E8

The Jura E8 and E6 are just like all other Jura espresso machines in that they are very easy to clean and take care of.

The E8 maintains its position as the winner in this field thanks to its automatic, one-touch milk system cleaning that lacks in the Jura E6. To prevent the milk from spoiling and clogging the machine, it is important to clean the milk system after each usage. An easy and automatic way of doing so is therefore highly desirable.

Jura E6 vs E8: Similarities

1. Pulse Extraction Process

Both the Jura E6 and the Jura E8 use many of the same brewing techniques. One of them is the Pulse Extraction Process, which optimizes extraction time to make sure you get the best espresso. If you want your coffee to taste just right, without being too weak, too strong, or too bitter, this feature takes care of that for you.

2. Thermoblock Heating

The Thermoblock heating system, which I think is great for home espresso makers. Thermoblock makes sure that heat doesn’t get lost between making the coffee and making the milk foam. You only have to wait a short time before you can make your second cup, but even then, the machine heats up quickly and evenly.

3. DESIGN

Both the Jura E6 and the Jura E8 have a 2.8-inch color display that is controlled by buttons. Even though it doesn’t have a touch screen like some other models, I found it to be easy to use and quite intuitive.

Both machines have water tanks that hold 64 ounces and bean hoppers that hold 10 ounces. That’s enough to make 8 cups of coffee or many shots of espresso without having to refill the water tank. These should be big enough for most households.
