Jura C60 vs E8: Is It Worth Paying More For An Upgraded Bean-To-Cup Machine??

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

In the side-by-side comparison of Jura C60 vs E8, I’ve noticed many differences between them. The Jura E8 is a more versatile piece of equipment for home-brewing coffee beverages and is well worth the money.

The Jura E8 includes a larger bean hopper, a more nuanced, quieter, and faster grinder, a combination of state-of-the-art brewing and milk frothing technologies, and more programmable settings for espresso drinks. As a result, the Jura E8 can provide excellent balance and consistency in coffee extraction, as well as great crema and rich taste.

Meanwhile, the Jura C60 is a more basic coffee machine since it features a simple text display and rotary switch control while providing essential coffee presets for users. Thus, this C65 is an appropriate entry-level for those who have just landed their hands on super-automatic machines for the first time.

Jura C60 vs E8: Differences

The differences between Jura C60 vs E8 include 4 significant categories: built-in grinder, dosing control and programmability, brewing technology and coffee taste, and utility. The Jura E8 performs better output of all these crucial categories than the Jura C65 does. In other words, the Jura E8 wins 4-0 against the C60.

Grinder

Winner: Jura E8

The Jura E8 is equipped with an advanced Professional Aroma grinder to operate smoother, more precisely and silently while preserving the aroma of the coffee beans. I admitted that the grinding sound from the Jura E8 is quieter than from the Jura C60. Moreover, the fineness settings in the Jura E8’s grinder are more variable, with 6 levels instead of 4 levels found on the Jura C60.

With such differences in grinder performance, the coffee extraction’s flavor from both machines is influenced and significantly different. I will discuss this point in the ‘espresso taste’ part. Let’s move to the next discrepancy in the dose control of both machines.

Dose control

Winner: Jura E8

The Jura E8 wins this category because it offers a greater number of coffee specialties and customizations than the Jura C60 does. 17 is the number of preset specialties that the Jura E8 offers, while that number from the Jura C60 is 4. This is such a big gap here, right?

That wide range of presets on the Jura E8 includes essential and authentic coffee drinks of americanos, ristretto, espresso doppio, cappuccino, latte, and flat white. Thus, when using the Jura E8, I can make cappuccinos and lattes automatically. Especially, I can pre-programmed the milk amount for these drink types. Additionally, the interval process stages of frothing and brewing on the E8 present appropriate pauses to beautiful separation layers in my cup.

The E8 also has 8 different levels of coffee intensity instead of 4 levels on the C60. With this small upgraded feature, I can say that I can make a sophisticated modification to the flavor of my cups! This also enables me to adjust the coffee intensity while brewing, allowing me to make more servings of varying intensities for my family.

Brewing technology & Coffee taste

Winner: Jura E8

Here, both machines feature the same Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.), which can make a good extraction, but the Jura E8 combines one more technology for the brewing process, the 3D brewing technology. This additional 3D brewing technology is known to push the water evenly into the coffee grinds to keep the consistency between shots. Thus, the Jura E8 theoretically gives deep, rich, and more consistent espresso shots than the Jura C60.

I tried brewing my black coffee with both Jura E8 and C60, and the taste is really different. For the cups made by Jura E8, the coffee taste is rich and nuanced, and the crema is amazing. On the other hand, the espresso cup made by the Jura C60 is quite watery and milder, though I programmed the same strength level of “High.” This richer taste and aroma must be ascribed to the perfected Professional Aroma Grinder and the integrated 3D brewing technology in the Jura E8.

Another feature of the Jura E8 that cannot be found in the Jura C60 is the one-touch lungo function. For those who love enjoying full-bodied but less intense black coffee, this feature is very useful. The flavor of the lungo is good and pleasant, and I taste no bitterness when drinking it.

The coffee taste is a more subjective evaluation, meaning that it depends on your preferences. To me, the Jura C60 does produce good coffee with good taste in general, but the taste is not as strong as the Jura E8. As my preference is strong and deep coffee, the Jura E8 is what I go for.

Utility

Winner: Jura E8

App connection

The smart app connection feature on the Jura E8 is very useful. With this connection, it is possible for me to customize the drinks more easily. The app interface is very user-friendly and informative. It shows me every brewing step when the machine is operating. Thus, I can know what is happening and when my coffee is made without having to stand next to the machine.

Interface

The control panel on the Jura E8 includes a 2.8-inch TFT display with six buttons, which looks modern and is easy to use. The display screen of Jura E8 also presents small icons of the drink types in addition to the text, making it easier to know which beverage you are programming.

The Jura C60 is designed with rotary switches and a plain text display. Though this offers very straightforward control, it’s somehow difficult to observe the operating processes.

Jura C60 vs E8: Similarities

The similarities between Jura C60 vs E8 are Jura’s standard technologies and some of the physical design elements.

The Jura C60 and E8 coffee centers have a single boiler system with thermoblock technology to optimize the heat-up time and switching time between brewing coffee and steaming milk to be under 1 minute.

These machines also feature the same 64 oz water tank with the CLARIS filtration system and Intelligent Water System (IWS). The two CLARIS and IWS technologies will help filter the water to prevent internal damage and let you know when you need to perform the cleaning and descaling.

Both machines will not turn off automatically if left unused, but thanks to the programmable Energy Save mode, you can determine the switch-off time (with an adjustable range of 15 mins – 15 hours) for them.
