Jura WE6 vs E8: Differences

The E8 beats the WE6 by a score of 4-1. Not only is it the most well-liked option among espresso lovers, but it also has a wider range of programmability and a greater number of preset drinks. In addition to that, it has the milk system, which is absent from the WE6.

1. Espresso Flavor

The Winner: Jura E8

+Coffee Grinder

The grinder of the Jura WE6 is an Aroma G3 grinder, while that of the Jura E8 is an Aroma steel conical burr grinder. While both are good for quick, consistent, and preserve-the-aroma grinding, the Aroma G3 seems to be faster and quieter.

The steel conical blades are sharp and ensure consistency in grind size and durability. Their shape helps them catch all the beans, leaving no ground coffee left inside the grinder, which would just increase the amount of time needed to clean it and cause it to clog.

The Jura WE6 is aware of the issues that plagued its predecessor, the Aroma, which was an earlier version of the Aroma G3. As a result, a significant number of issues, including noise, vibration, and consistency, are solved. In addition to this, I believe that the Jura WE6 is well able to handle back-to-back use without incurring any further delays.

Additionally, the burr blades of the AromaG3 grinder do not become overheated, preventing freshly ground coffee beans from gaining an unpleasant texture.

Luckily, Jura E8 got some changes in 2019. The G3 Aroma grinder was now included in the 2019 upgrade.

+Programmability

Adjust temperature on Jura E8
Adjust temperature on Jura E8

Both Jura E8 and WE6 have adjustable strength setting features, but they are not the same. Adjustable strength settings mean you can adjust the strength of your espresso taste. The strength does not directly change how the beans are brewed by default.

The Jura E8 features 10 adjustable strength settings that work with all of its specialty coffees. On the Jura WE6, there are just 8 different levels of strength adjustment. It’s one of my favorite features that the E8 is able to produce beverages with such a robust flavor profile, and if you enjoy drinking coffee that’s strong and full-bodied, it’s likely going to be one of the features that you enjoy using the most as well.

The Jura E8 has 3 temperature settings for brewing espresso, allowing you to customize the beverage’s heat to your liking, while the WE6 has only 2.

They both have the same 3-setting hot water programmability, so you can make everything from tea to hot chocolate to a long black coffee at your leisure.

2. Milk Frothing

The Winner: Jura E8

Milk system on Jura E8

A huge difference between these two coffee machines is about milk system. The E8 features a fantastic milk system, unlike its competitor, which does not include one.

The Jura E8 espresso machine does not have a steam wand; it has an automatic milk-frothing system. It doesn’t provide you with quite as much control as a real steam wand would, but it can get quite close, and it’s definitely something that’s worth trying.

They transformed the froth dial into a selector switch in the 2019 model, which allows for a smoother transition between foam and milk at the touch of a button.

My only complaint is that I wish there were a way to attach a real steam wand to the machine for people who just like that better than auto-frothing systems. It would be a huge plus, even if it had to be purchased separately, and would increase the machine’s appeal to a much wider customer.

Now, with the Jura WE6, although it is a wonderful option for brewing espresso, it does not seem to specialize in making milk-based coffee. . Because of this, there are fewer options available to assist users in frothing milk to prepare cappuccinos, flat whites, or lattes.

So if you are a fan of specialty coffee and milk-based coffee, it is better to go for the E8.

3. Utilities

The Winner: Jura E8

+Coffee Specialties

When compared to the WE6, the Jura E8 shines due to its extensive library of pre-programmed coffee drinks. The Jura E8 allows users to choose from a total of 17 different types of coffee drinks, including both traditional and specialized beverages such as cappuccinos, latte macchiato, flat whites, and so on. On the other hand, only 8 different drinks are available on the Jura WE6.

There are 17 preset of coffee drinks available on Jura E8

If you are a big coffee fan, the Jura E8 is unquestionably the ideal machine for your needs. All your usual drinks will be available, and the added caffeine from two espresso shots will make them even more satisfying.

+Pre-Ground Coffee

You can make espresso from pre-ground coffee powder in the Jura E8 because it features a two-scoop bypass doser. If you have a packet of pre-ground coffee, you won’t even need coffee beans to brewing. That’s wonderful because it means you can have a cup of coffee whenever you want without having to go through the hassle of grinding the beans first.

You can create tremendously strong coffee with a two-scoop bypass doser. Most super-automatic espresso machines have a bypass doser, but it can only hold one scoop, which we find to be a bit of a limitation.

The Jura WE6 only works with coffee beans while making espresso. It does not feature a by-pass doser for pre-ground coffee.

4. Capacity

The Winner: Jura WE6

The Jura WE6 and E8 have different capacities for water reservoirs. The E8 has a smaller water reservoir and is more practical for day use. It has a capacity of 1.8 liters of water. Because of this, the water ran out quite quickly, and I needed to refill it rather frequently. In contrast, the WE6 can hold up to 2.9 liters. This is a significant increase over the E8’s capacity.

Moving on to the capacity of the bean hopper, the WE6 has a larger bean hopper that can hold 17.6 ounces of beans, whereas the E8’s bean hopper comes in at approximately 9.8 ounces.

This makes the Jura E8 more suitable for use at home rather than at the office.

Which espresso machine to choose depends on how many people you plan to serve. The Jura E8 is an excellent pick for a two-person household. The Jura WE6’s large capacity will be best if there are more than three people.

5. Value For Money

The Winner: Jura E8

The pricing of a Jura E8 is significantly higher. However, I do not find it excessive in light of all the benefits this machine provides. It includes the 17 preset, programmable settings, P.E.P. system, the Intelligent Water System, and the fantastic milk system.

But it’s not a gadget for everyone; if you’re on a tighter budget, you might want to consider the Jura WE6 instead. However , for the same price, I can get another coffee machine that has milk system. Therefore, in my opinion, E8 offers better value for the money than WE6 does.

Jura WE6 vs E8: Similarities

1. Heating System

Both Jura E8 and WE6 utilize a single boiler. That’s a pity! My preference is for coffee brewing machines that have two separate boilers, as this allows you to froth milk and brew coffee simultaneously. Because a single-boiler system requires additional time to transfer from one activity to another, the total amount of time it takes to make milk-based beverages using a single-boiler system is longer.

The longer brewing time is not a deal breaker by any means. Although it is measured in seconds rather than minutes, the additional time required for each cup of coffee can quickly add up if you consume a lot of the beverage.

2. Pulse Extraction Process And 15 Bar Pump

The Pulse Extraction Process and a 15-bar pump are utilized in both machines. They make it possible for the machines to extract a maximum of aroma.

During the extraction, I thought I heard a slight pulsing murmur. Initially, I didn’t believe this would have much of an impact, but I was wrong. It does make a significant difference.

3. Two Spouts

The Jura WE6 and E8 can be used to create two cups of espresso at once because they have 2 spouts. And that spouts can adjust the height to fit any size of the mug.
