After weighing the differences between Jura D6 vs E8, I found that the E8 performs better than its opponent. If you are confused about this conclusion, read the article below to find out the answers to your questions.
In spite of sharing many similar features, such as automatic cleaning and maintenance, the J.O.E. app, the built-in grinder, the single thermoblock, and more, the Jura Z8 still shines with many higher levels of customization, which can’t be found on the D6. With brew temperature levels, strength control, auto shut-off, and programmable coffee beverages, using an espresso maker at home is simpler than ever. Besides, this device also offers a wide range of barista-quality espresso drinks, such as macchiatos and flat whites.
With the runner-up, the Jura D6, it is still an amazing espresso machine with a friendly user interface, a reasonable price, and a compact design. Additionally, this machine can satisfy you with smooth and creamy milk foam if you are a cappuccino lover.

Jura D6 vs E8: Differences
To summarize, Jura E8 wins 4 – 0 against Jura D6 based on its higher levels of customization in coffee flavor, milk frothing, temperature adjusting, and ease of use. Read the breakdown for details.
coffee flavor
The Winner: Jura E8
Grinder
Both Jura D6 and Jura E8 have an integrated Aroma grinder that offers consistently high grind quality and can be freely adjusted to achieve the desired fineness of the ground. However, the difference is that the D6 comes with an AromaG2 grinder, while the E8 has an AromaG3 grinder.
Overall, these two types of grinders mentioned above are durable, solid, and well-working. But, compared to the G2, the G3 is quieter, faster, and preserves the coffee flavor better. The Aroma G3’s blades cover most of the surface area inside the grinder to catch and grind every inch of the coffee beans, so the number of coffee grounds left after each session is less.
In addition, with the E8, besides making coffee from coffee beans, there is a spot for pre-ground coffee, while the D6 does not offer this option.
Heating System
According to the comparison chart, these two machines share the same heating system, a single thermoblock. This system is well-known for its short heat-up times and water that is freshly heated every time. Thus, it will take you less time to wait for a cup of espresso.
In general, with thermoblock technology, you can expect the same speed and consistency in both machines. However, the levels of temperature control still set the Jura E8 and Jura D6 apart.
In detail, for the programmable temperature of hot water, the E8 comes with three settings, whereas its opponent features only two. And similarly, for programmable brewing temperature, the E8 has three settings, while the D6 has only two.
Espresso Quality

Using the same brewing technique, Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P. ), D6, and E8 feature the capability to optimize the extraction time by forcing the hot water through the ground coffee at short intervals. Therefore, each shot of espresso comes out with a deeper and richer flavor.
However, with the winner, Jura E8, users have more control to program and individually adjust the coffee flavor with 10 strength levels, whereas you just get 4 levels on the runner-up.
milk system
The winner: Jura E8
Regarding the milk system, the Jura E8 has the upper hand thank to its design and technology.
With the E8, this machine has a separate milk spout at the front and a dial above it. In there, the dial positioned vertically produces finely textured milk foam with long-lasting consistency for cappuccinos, flat whites, and latte macchiatos, while the dial positioned horizontally gives you heated milk. This is called Professional Fine Foam Technology, which quite impressed me. Also, with the two spouts on the device, you can pull two espressos or other milk-free drinks at once. However, please keep in mind that you can’t make two milk-based drinks simultaneously.
As for the D6, the milk system doesn’t have a hot milk function, and you also can’t get two espressos concurrently. Nevertheless, you can still customize the consistency of the milk per cup like the E8 and the foam’s quality is super creamy and frothy as well.
Programmability & Drink Options
The winner: Jura E8
Both Jura models allow you to program to optimize the way the machine works and your drink. Those programmable factors include the amount of water, coffee strength, amount of milk or milk foam, brewing temperature, the temperature of hot water, and switch-off time. However, the distinction is that the E8 offers a higher level of programmability than its opponent. You can also see the differences by checking the comparison chart above.
For another example, the E8 has 17 specialty coffees, while the D6 has only 7. In addition to hot water, cappuccino, espresso, coffee, and milk foam, Jura E8 still offers a wide range of coffee drinks such as flat whites, macchiatos, espresso doppios, ristrettos, etc. These are beverages that you can find in any high-end coffee shop.
EASE OF USE
The winner: Jura E8

The E8’s high-resolution TFT color display makes users more interested when using it. The user simply needs to follow the instructions on the screen by clicking the buttons. Overall, this interface is easy to manipulate and navigate.
With the D6, this machine offers an intuitive plain text display. Generally, it’s easy to understand and operate. However, the rotary dial is a bit annoying. It can be a little confusing and time-consuming to operate the dial appropriately.
Jura D6 vs E8: Similarities
After examining both machines, I concluded that the Jura E6 and Jura D6 are quite similar with regard to overall features. The following are some notable similarities between the two.
clean and maintain
Jura D6 and Jura E8 feature integrated rinsing and cleaning programs that regularly auto-clean the internal parts. The parts that need to be disassembled are easy to access and clean as well as dishwasher safe. Also, these two machines come with a hot water dispenser so that you can keep the drip tray clean and spotless with some hot water.
j.o.e app
Another similar point between these two Jura espresso machines is that it’s compatible with Smart Connect for use with J.O.E.® (JURA Operating Experience) app.
The app offers other options to control the machines and adjust the settings for each drink. Using this app, you can also track how much water and beans you have left and have direct access to customer service for assistance.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
