An affordable mid-range machine is a dream product for many homeowners, as it’s not too expensive yet still has intricate features that resemble those of a high-end model vividly. That’s why the debate between Jura D6 vs E6 exists. And after testing them, I can tell you how Jura E6 has all my support.

Jura E6 is quicker and has a coffee grinder that uses less electricity. With its 8-strength settings, the Jura E6 allows you to design more coffee drinks to your preference. Aside from being more programmable, the machine’s color display makes it easier to use than the Jura D6’s minimal digital screen.

The Jura D6 has an integrated grinder, preset coffee volume and strength settings, and a quick fine-foam frother. It serves its purpose if you’re looking for a quick drink brewed with real espresso. But it’s not the best option out there, especially when compared to Jura E6.

Jura D6 vs E6: Differences

Jura E6 wins 3-0 and ties once against Jura D6. In addition, it boasts more variable programmable features, and its interface is much easier and more convenient to manage. You can check all the details below!

Espresso extraction

Winner: Jura E6

Grinder

Here, there is a distinction between Jura’s two generations of coffee grinder: Aroma G2 and G3 models.

The Aroma G2 grinder, which is a standard model in the Jura and consistently grinds and makes good-tasting espresso shots, is the predecessor of the G3 line. Contrarily, the Aroma G3 is quieter and produces smoother and finer grounds while using less energy, which is a very logical improvement for the newer generation.

Additionally, it doesn’t get as hot when grinding beans repeatedly. That level of consistency and fineness in the grinding mechanism is lacking in the Jura D6 with its Aroma G2 grinder.

The grinder on the Jura E6 can withstand heavy use. It has changeable settings and is a quieter, vibration-free, and more effective grinder. The Aroma G2 also has a grind level adjustment capability to adjust the coffee’s texture.

Heating element

The pair comes with a Thermoblock heating system that can reach optimum brewing temperature in a shorter time and also boasts better performance consistency. In this aspect, I’m satisfied with what both machines have to offer.

Milk frother

Tie

The pair is designed with a milk circuit that pumps milk from an external container via a silicone tube and froths automatically without requiring users’ intervention. With an automatic milk system, it’s very easy to get dry foam for recipes like latte macchiato or cappuccino. And the pair doesn’t fail in delivering the best result in this aspect. I have been able to get high-quality milk foam to my liking.

What I like the most is that the milk system is adjustable, so there isn’t just one kind of froth. You can get from creamy to dry milk without difficulty. Also, I don’t recommend frothing with very cold milk because the system already froths really well with room-temperature milk.

Programmability

Winner: Jura E6

Both devices have tremendous advantages. The Pulse Extraction Process and 2 temperature settings are some important similarities that the pair shares.

Programmable coffee strength and volume settings are available on the Jura D6 and E6. There are 4 different coffee strength settings available on the Jura D6. This refers to the espresso’s flavor’s intensity and aroma.

For any espresso addict, 4 levels might seem like a humble place to start. Therefore, the Jura E6’s 8 programmable settings are a fantastic improvement. In addition, for a variety of espresso-based recipes, it enables you to select from a more complex espresso flavor. It gives you more control over the final product according to your preference as well.

Interface

Winner: Jura E6

Jura E6 has a user-friendly interface. The Jura E6’s TFT color display and buttons are faster and easier to use than the Jura D6’s rotary dials and simple digital display with text. It’s easy to adjust coffee strength or coffee volume or check the recipes that are available with the device.

The Jura D6’s display panel is smaller and devoid of drink names or coffee icons. This is not to say that navigating the D6 will be difficult. In no way. But with every option of customization and selection being crammed into one single dial, I don’t find it that pleasant navigating the recipes with Jura D6.

Jura D6 vs E6: Similarities

Check out these similarities between Jura D6 and E6!

Classic Jura’s design

This pair has a very classic Jura design. You can find the water tank at the machine’s side and remove it with a vertical pull. The devices have bulky figures and thus need good open space for a comfortable home-barista experience. In addition, they are well-known for their various one-touch recipes and the preprogrammed milk-to-espresso dispensing order. This makes every drink looks authentic to what a professional barista can make.

Water tank size

With a 63oz water reservoir, users can enjoy a good 2-3 days of use if they brew about 3 times daily. The tank size is pretty standard, so it will entertain a smaller group of users well. I don’t recommend these models if you want to serve over 10 cups per day, either. The machine will last longer with minimum pump pressure wear-off if it’s put to work on under 8 cups daily.
