You are wondering which machine wins between Jura E8 vs Philips 3200? You have come to the right place. These espresso makers have completely different price ranges, so it has been difficult for me to choose the final winner. But in the end, Philips 3200 still has my vote, despite not being as potent as Jura E8 in certain aspects.
Philips 3200 boasts an amazing value for price relation. Its espresso is balanced and smooth, and the machine can go from one brewing section to another in 30-40s without suffering a noticeable temperature loss. I highly recommend this entry-level machine if you are on a tight budget but still want a well-rounded machine.
As for the runner-up Jura E8, you can enjoy delicious espresso with a perfect set of over 10+ one-touch recipes. This machine is all about automation. So you will have a 100% hands-free brewing experience. The thing is, this machine is very expensive, too expensive for its standard operation. But make sure that you check out my review and introduction before skipping this model because it’s not a weak one by no means.

Jura E8 vs Philips 3200: Differences
Philips 3200 wins 3-1 against Jura E8, and they tie 3 times regarding espresso flavor, grinder, and milk system. I will give you the full details below because the features work in a very specific way that may not appear negative for different users.
Espresso flavor
It’s a tie!
There is no mistake about it. Philips 3200 and Jura E8 brew robust espresso many will get addicted to. I have brewed an uncountable number of espresso shots with these machines, and never once they made me doubt their pump pressure and dosing ability. The shots come out so rich, authentic, and refreshing that I can’t complain about any flavor aspect.
Grinder
It’s a tie!
Fresh coffee beans are ground with ceramic burr grinders like the Jura E8 and the Philips 3200. A ceramic burr grinder is one of the most reliable solutions for grinding beans if you are unfamiliar with the design because of its robustness and easy operation. In addition, its diagonal form ensures that there is as little remaining coffee ground as possible, which helps prevent jams and breakage.

I’m happy with the results thus far after testing their performances. The uniform and smooth ground quality that the Jura E8 and the Philips 3200 can produce is comparable.
Heating system and temperature performance
Winner: Philips 3200
Philips 3200 comes with a single boiler, and Jura E8 uses a single Thermoblock. With these machines, I have been able to brew cup after cup at an ideal temperature for drinking right away. This means that it is hot enough to enjoy with ease but not too hot that it will burn you from the first sip. The concept is popular with most espresso machines, except those that tend to brew fuming cups.
With distinctive heating elements, the pair surprises me with their almost identical heat-up time. Normally, a Thermoblock would warm up faster than a single boiler. But both Philips 3200 and Jura E8 require only under a minute to rev the brew group up for a brewing session.
But, the reason why Philips 3200 wins this round is that Jura E8 suffers a temperature deficiency in the second brew after the first extraction. In contrast, Philips 3200 is more effective at maintaining the water temperature high for subsequent brewing sessions. I think the 3200 product range is the right choice if you brew regularly every day.
One-touch beverages
Winner: Jura E8

Jura E8 is a high-end machine that pays close attention to automation, so there is no doubt that it has an impressive set of beverages that users can pick for a beans-to-cup experience. On the contrary, the Philips 3200 is a much simpler machine that pays more attention to classic espresso.
The list of one-touches of both machines includes:
- Jura E8: Ristretto, espresso, macchiato, coffee, espresso doppio, special coffee, flat white, cappuccino, latte macchiato, portion milk, portion milk foam, and hot water (double shots not included).
- Philips 3200: Espresso, coffee, Americano, espresso lungo, and hot water (double brewings not included).
Milk System
Another tie!
While Philips 3200 employs a traditional Panarello wand to froth milk, Jura E8 has an internal milk system that requires the aid of an additional carafe or milk container.
The catch is that the Jura E8 is the better option if you prefer an automated machine that handles all the foaming for you. However, Philips 3200 is preferable if you want a milk system that gives you more control over the final quality.
I’m not the only user that has had bad experiences with steam wands. Fortunately, Philips 3200 is not one of the subpar milk systems. The machine can make milk frothy and airy, which is the texture we want in cappuccinos and lattes.
Since the Jura E8 handles most of the milk frothing process, it provides less control over the final texture. However, the finished product, an airy and dry microfoam, is stunning. However, using such an automated system, it is more difficult to produce steamed milk with a creamy texture.
Design & Material
Winner: Philips 3200
I like the Philips 3200’s design because both versions have the same water tank capacity. However, E8 is substantially bulkier and takes up more space. If you haven’t designed an area for this espresso machine yet, you will be surprised by how much free space it requires.
Another aspect worthy of mentioning is that I can remove Philips 3200’s water tank by pulling it up upfront. As for Jura E8, its vertical-pull water reservoir makes it obligatory that I put it in an open stand to avoid fumbling with the removal due to the lack of top space.

Regarding the material of the devices, the Jura E8 is mostly constructed of plastic and stainless steel. As a result, it feels solid and durable. As for the other model, the majority of the Philips 3200’s components are comprised of plastic, followed by lighter stainless steel parts (not worth mentioning, like the drip tray lining). The advantage of the 3200 is that it feels much more lightweight! It’s also more compact, making it perfect for even small kitchen corners.
Affordable Price and good value
Winner: Philips 3200
Philips 3200 leaves Jura E8 smoking dust in this aspect. For me, the Philips 3200 is worth the price tag, while Jura E8 comes across as too expensive for a home-use machine. It’s not a commercial model since it can’t brew a large volume of coffee daily. However, with similar features, users can definitely get their hands on many better-priced machines, like Gaggia Anima Prestige or DeLonghi Eletta.
Jura E8 vs Philips 3200: Similarities
What about similarities? Is there any brewing aspect that these 2 completely different machines share? I will give you the answers below!
Water tank size And Other ASpects
Jura E8 and Philips 3200 use a 61 and 64 oz water tank, respectively. This standard tank size allows a comfortable daily brewing experience for 2-3 users. However, judging from the pump pressure performance and the brands’ recommendations, users shouldn’t brew more than 10 cups with Philips 3200 and 20 cups with Jura E8.
Also, the removal of each tank is different. Despite being side water tanks, Jura E8’s requires vertical pull while Philips 3200’s is front-pull. Therefore, it’s easier to remove the tank on Philips 3200 for refilling.
In addition, the tanks are made of slightly transparent plastic, so users can visually check the water level with ease. Again, I find the small detail very compelling.
Target consumers

Philips 3200 is an affordable machine with well-designed everything. As for Jura E8, this is a high-end home-use model for users searching for a high level of automation. So it depends on your preference and budget. But my take is that whatever you choose, you will be satisfied with its performance.
Quick Rundown of Philips 3200
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted.Product note: Please refer to user guide or user manual (provided below in PDF) before first use

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
