Philips 3200 Lattego Vs 4300: A Noticeable Competition For Coffee Lovers

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

If you are wondering if the winner of the Philips 3200 Lattego Vs 4300 comparison has been determined, the answer is yes. The Philips 3200 is my top pick.

Although the Philips 3200 and 4300 lines have the same design, the 3200 has more stable espresso extraction, and the 4300’s milk system works twice as well. This machine consistently produces good espresso, crema, and milk foam, and I’m very impressed. In this regard, Philips 3200 represents a better value for money choice.

The Philips 4300 is capable of making excellent espresso and froth milk. However, when I want to make cappuccinos or lattes, this product line is less efficient than 3200, even though its milk system is marketed as making dry foam. You can check out my experience below.

Philips 3200 Lattego Vs 4300: Differences

In this game, Philips 3200 beats 4300 3-1. I would have loved to see them a tie, but Philips 3200’s milk system is indeed much more powerful and efficient. These two machines make delicious espresso, at least in terms of flavor. On the other hand, 4300 presents several operational problems. Do you know what they are?

COFFEE FLAVOR: PHILIPS 3200

+Grinder

I find it attractive that Phillips 3200 and 4300 come with ceramic burr grinders since this is a good design. According to their advertisements, these grinders claim to offer consistent grinding with optimum precision. With both grinders, we can control the final texture of the espresso shot and its strength by adjusting the 12 settings they have.

For me, the grinders work in how they are advertised: they are very close to what they advertise. Whenever I grind the coffee, the grounds are consistently smooth and even. Additionally, the operation is hushed. This does not appear to be different. All things considered, the grinders on these machines are excellent.

Set your espresso grinder to a higher level, such as 8 or 9, to get a strong cup of espresso. You’ll get a more delicate ground product. Set the grinder to a lower setting for mellow drinks, such as 5 or 6, and the ground will be coarse.

There is no need to go further than these settings since it will affect the regular operation of the machine. With a grinder at level 12, I have tried brewing the coffee and found that it came out quite bitter and watered down simultaneously. The coffee actually has little cream. The ground is very coarse when the grinder is set below 4, which leads to sour and weak shots.

+Dosing + tamping

Make a shot with Philips 3200

Phillips 3200 and 4300 machines are fully automatic and brew coffee from bean to cup without additional attention during extraction. The dosage amount between them is not specified but can be adjusted according to the preferences of each individual. Therefore, they have similar strengths.

The profile of the used pucks appears that Philips 3200 and Philips 4300 tamp and extract with good pressure, as the bottom layers of crema are dense and the espressos have a heavy mouthfeel to them. For less than $200, Philips 3200 and Philips 4300 produce better than average espresso quality.

+Heating system

Compared to Philips 4300, Philips 3200 is better at delivering coffee/ espresso temperatures. However, it still seems that espresso from 3200 comes out hotter, even though they share a single Thermoblock heating system.

However, the temperature is generally suitable for drinking almost immediately in all cases. It doesn’t get as hot as some of the other models I have tested before, but it doesn’t get too cool either. Phillips 3200 and Philips 4300 are both decent deals at their prices.

MILK SYSTEM: PHILIPS 3200

Milk system of Philips 3200

Even after only a few brewing sessions, I could confidently say that Philips 3200 has a more efficient milking system. The steam wand of 4300 is similar to that found on 3200 but cannot produce dry and airy foam, which is crucial for making cappuccinos and lattes. In my case, I can make microfoam using Philips 3200 and engage in the art of latte art with it. However, I cannot do the same with 4300.

The steam wand of 4300 is placed too close to the machine’s body and thus cannot produce thick microfoam. In fact, I have tried several times with it but failed each time. I can only do so by switching to a different group setting.

UTILITIES: PHILIPS 4300

Various profiles of 4300
Various profiles of 4300

A multiple user profiles makes the Philips 4300 the winner this time. Each user will have their own profile session with their own choices and preferences. If you share your coffee machine with a friend or spouse and each has different preferences for coffee strength or aroma, the dual profiles feature can be helpful.

CLEANING & MAINTAIN: TIE

The Philips 3200 and Philips 4300 both have alarm systems that indicate when to descale and clean the machines. I like that about them. Each machine has removable brew groups that you can clean monthly or weekly. Furthermore, the brew path is rinsed automatically and washed thoroughly to eliminate bacteria and keep it odorless.

However, I recommend rinsing the steam wands after every brewing session. By not maintaining their cleanliness daily, the wands can easily become damaged. When you froth milk with it, ensure you thoroughly rinse the milk path afterward.

Philips 3200 Lattego Vs 4300: Similarities

These machines are more similar than different, but I would like to focus on aspects that I find to be notable.

AMERICANO WITH A TOUCH

You will enjoy this feature if you are a fan of American culture like me. Both Philips 3200 and 4300 have a button to select American-only recipes, despite not having one-touch milk-based recipes. The results are great, and the pair can brew a robust and balanced cup of American coffee.

In case the flavor is too strong for you, you can add a little sugar to improve the flavor even further. For the purest and most authentic taste of an American soda, I recommend adding the least amount of ice possible.

DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF BREWING CAN BE ADJUSTABLE

You can adjust the brewing temperature, the coffee strength, the amount of milk foam, and the aroma of your coffee. You have a lot of customization options with Philips 3200 and 4300 if you have a specific taste for coffee and espresso.

MILK-BASED RECIPES DO NOT USE A ONE-TOUCH PROCESS

Milk-based recipes are not specialized in these models. This is why they don’t offer one-touch beverages containing milk. However, they also have a steam wand that satisfies the varied tastes of their users.
