Philips 3200 Lattego vs Delonghi Magnifica XS is the next debate of espresso machines that we will decide the winner of. For me, Philips 3200 LatteGo is the final winner. If you read my recent reviews, you know that there aren’t many models that have what it takes to excel this one in the mid-range scale.
Philips 3200 LatteGo is a jack-of-all-trades machine that does well in almost every aspect of espresso. It has a bunch of interesting one-touch beverages, including Americano and latte macchiato. It heats up super quickly, and the drinks taste divine. I can’t complain much about this model’s performance, given its consistency in everything, from grinding beans to extraction.
As for Delonghi Magnifica XS, it performs better than Philips 3200 LatteGo in the temperature department. It also can extract balanced espresso. However, its steel grinder and simplistic one-touch beverages can’t surpass Philips 3200 LatteGo.

Philips 3200 Lattego vs Delonghi Magnifica Xs: Differences
Philips 3200 Lattego wins 4-1 agasint Delonghi Magnifica Xs. Its overall performance is much better, not only in espresso flavor or microform milk frothing method. Learn more about both machines’ strengths and weaknesses below.
Grinder
Winner: Philips 3200 Lattego
Conical burr grinders are used by Philips 3200 Lattego and Delonghi Magnifica Xs to grind freshly roasted beans. However, the materials are unique. The grinder of the Delonghi Magnifica Xs is constructed of steel, as opposed to the ceramic one in the Philips 3200 Lattego. This feature just indicates which model is superior.

We can preserve the quality of the beans and prevent adversely affecting the final flavor by using a ceramic grinder. In terms of steel grinders, this substance is, in fact, more durable than ceramic. However, steel conducts heat better than ceramic. As a result, grinders built of this material have a propensity to roast beans while grinding, intensifying the bitterness and burned flavor of espresso.
Regarding the consistency of the grinders’ output, I have been enjoying fine, uniform grinding that makes no noise. However, the ceramic grinder in the 3200 produces considerably more authentically ground coffee.
Espresso flavor
Winner: Philips 3200 Lattego
These machines are fully automatic, so the dosing and tamping steps are also automatic. What I like the most about the dosing part is that we can adjust the coffee strength through it.
With Delonghi Magnifica Xs, I usually set a smaller dose since the grinder tends to slightly roast the bean and make it more bitter and maybe too bitter for my taste. Setting the dose lower will result in a more mellow shot of espresso.
With Philips 3200 Lattego, the dose can vary in 3 levels, and after testing them all, I can say that the espresso and coffee flavor on each level is excellent. The lowest level will deliver a smooth espresso, while the highest makes robust but balanced coffee.
One-touch beverages
Winner: Philips 3200 Lattego
The list of one-touch beverages that these machines can brew are:
- Philips 3200 LatteGo: Espresso, double espresso, coffee, double coffee, Americano, double Americano, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and hot water
- Delonghi Magnifica XS: espresso, double espresso, espresso lungo, and double espresso lungo

So, with Philips 3200 LatteGo, users have access to a bunch of classic coffee recipes, including milk-based ones. If you are a fan of super-automatic machines, the one-touch recipes are an important detail you must remember. After all, there is no reason to spend more on a so-called super-automatic machine when it doesn’t automatically brew elaborate stuff.
Heating system and temperature performance
Winner: Delonghi Magnifica Xs
Delonghi Magnifica Xs employ Thermoblock, which explains why their beverages are at different temperatures than Philips 3200’s boiler system.
Delonghi Magnifica Xs’ temperature performance is excellent since the beverages are served hot and steaming. This one’s temperature performance is better, in my opinion, because I usually like hot beverages.
Regarding Philips 3200 Lattego, the beverages are just right—not too cold, not too hot. Particularly the latte macchiato recipe. I think they’re great for sipping straight away.

Milk System
Winner: Philips 3200 Lattego
There is no disputing that the Philips 3200 Lattego has a superior milk system. Unfortunately, I can’t obtain dry microfoam for cappuccinos using Magnifica Xs. On the contrary, I certainly can with the Philips 3200 LatteGo carafe setup. I can pull microfoam in less than a minute, and the machine entirely takes care of the frothing process.
Magnifica XS is equipped with a steam wand. And since the machine is of mid-range, I had a high expectation that it would be able to deliver more microfoam. Unfortunately, the results have proven otherwise because the texture was creamy all the way, but the foam part is not airy enough, and the steamed milk part isn’t dense either. So this machine’s specialty isn’t cappuccino or latte macchiato, which requires a lot of dry foam.
On the bright side, you can still fix some of the most delicious beverages with milk involved, like flat white or mocha, with this machine.
Philips 3200 Lattego vs Delonghi Magnifica Xs: Similarities
Philips 3200 Lattego and Delonghi Magnifica XS share some similar features, like their water tank size and position, as well as their heating element. So how do these features work from my experience with the devices? You have the answer below!
Front-access water tank
If you have owned a top or back water tank, you will understand the benefit of having a frontal water tank. It’s much easier to remove and refill the tank every day if you brew a large volume of espresso. That’s why I enjoy reviewing Philips 3200 LatteGo and Delonghi Magnifica XS. Handling them daily has been fun.

Single boiler system
The single boiler system isn’t the most modern and potent one on the market, but it works just fine on these machines, given that I have been able to pull hot enough cups and I don’t have to wait long for the system to finish warming up.
Water tank size
With a 61oz water reservoir, these models can serve 2-3 users who drink coffee more than once per day. I wouldn’t recommend pairing these espresso machines with large families or users that need to serve coffee to a large group daily.
Quick Rundown of Philips 3200 Lattego
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted.Product note: Please refer to user guide or user manual (provided below in PDF) before first use

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
