The Philips 3200 Lattego has an effective heating system, a powerful and quiet grinder, and a steady brewing mechanism. Because of this, the espresso quality is excellent. In addition, the LatteGo milk carafe is also included with this model, which makes it a hands-free experience.
Regarding the Gaggia Anima, I really like the way it is designed. The steam wand is strong and effective, and the espresso quality is great overall. However, the truth is I don’t find it very distinctive from its brother of the same product line, Anima Prestige. The biggest differences are that Anima is equipped with a less potent steam wand instead of a milk carafe, but Anima has a more consistent grinder than Anima Prestige.

Regarding the espresso flavor, I don’t notice any difference between Philips 3200 LatteGo and Gaggia Anima. The beverages always taste very balanced and smooth, exactly what we should expect from any espresso machine, not just mid-range or high-end ones. Even the texture of the beverages is heavy and delicious.

I also enjoy a good layer of crema on all my coffee. And I can get it with the pair. Thanks to the 15 bar pump pressure, the espresso’s texture and the additional crema layer get really addicting. If you are looking for an affordable mid-range machine with impressive espresso, I can’t think of many product lines that surpass Philips 3200 LatteGo, Gaggia Anima, and Anima Prestige.
Grinder

Coffee beans are ground in ceramic burr grinders by Gaggia Anima and Philips 3200 Lattego. So far, the performance has been relatively similar.
First of all, neither grinder makes a sound. In light of this, I think both are ideal for consumers who reside in apartments in shared buildings where excessive noise is prohibited. With a quiet grinder, new parents may also avoid disturbing their infant when they only need one additional shot of coffee.
Second, the final results are quite equal. Given that it directly impacts how espresso tastes, this is the key quality that a coffee grinder must provide. After comparing the Gaggia Anima and Philips 3200 Lattego for a few months, I can confidently say that both produce even coffee grounds.
Milk System
Winner: Philips 3200 Lattego
The foam textures of the Gaggia Anima and Philips 3200 Lattego differ significantly. With the later device, I can get a milk foam texture that is dryer and lighter, which is essential for creating lattes and cappuccinos. For the Gaggia one, the milk often has a creamier texture that is perfect for lattes, mochas, and flat whites.

LatteGo is the genuine deal if you’re a novice or simply like a super-automatic milk system that froths milk to the ideal, airy texture for you. Thanks to its carafe design, I can obtain the appropriate milk texture without intervening with the foaming process.
I do have to manually manipulate the steam wand with the Gaggia Anima to achieve the ideal foam texture. I used to be a barista, so I like the procedure. However, the final results aren’t that impressive due to the lack of dry foam.
Convenient one-touch beverages
Winner: Philips 3200 Lattego
Philips 3200 Lattego dominates this round with ease. It can brew a great variety of recipes with a touch of a button. The recipes are: espresso, coffee, Americano, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and hot water. As for Gaggia Anima, it is programmed to brew espresso and espresso lungo only. Of course, these machines can brew a double espresso or other double recipes if users command.
Based solely on the set of automatic recipes only, I would already choose the Philips instead of the Gaggia. Automation is the future, offering users a hands-free experience with espresso machines. In the long run, I’m sure you will appreciate a super-automatic machine with more one-touch features if you drink coffee daily.

Compact and lightweight design
Both machines are quite lightweight, only around 16 pounds. This is due to the combination of plastic and stainless steel parts instead of a fully stainless steel frame. The design is very compact compared to most other espresso machines. You can easily fit these models into your kitchen corner or countertop.
There is a catch here, though. With Philips 3200 LatteGo and its front-access water tank, it’s not necessary to put the machine in an area where access to the back or spacious top section is obligatory. On the contrary, Gaggia Anima requires a large top area because the water tank is vertical-pull.
Heat-up time
Gaggia Anima and Philips 3200 Lattego don’t take more than 1 minute to finish their self-priming cycle. After 1 minute, users can start extracting espresso and frothing milk. But, I have a different suggestion, despite the fast warm-up ability of the devices.

I recommend leaving the machine on for at least 2 minutes. This will allow the water to heat up properly and extract hotter cups, especially with Philips 3200, because its temperature performance is slightly weaker than Gaggia Anima.
