With so many new coffee machines hitting the market, it can be hard to know which one is right for you. That’s why I’ve created this comparison between the Delonghi Magnifica XS vs Eletta. You can decide which machine is best for your preferences.

The DeLonghi Eletta is a versatile espresso machine that allows you to enjoy various coffee tastes with ease. Its touch control panel makes it simple to select your desired drink, while the LatteCrema automatic technology for quick and delicious milk-based drinks strengthens the milk system. Additionally, the ability to save my coffee customization settings was a huge selling point for me and helped this model win out against the Magnifica XS.

Delonghi Magnifica XS is a high-end espresso machine that offers several features that are sure to appeal to discerning coffee drinkers. The machine features a sleek, compact design that is perfect for small spaces, and it comes with a built-in, conical burr grinder that ensures your coffee beans are always fresh. However, it lacks certain utilities and has a less advanced milk system, making it the runner-up.

Delonghi Magnifica XS vs Eletta: Differences

With a score of 3-1, Delonghi Elleta defeated Magnifica XS. It is a more expensive machine that offers features like a built-in grinder, automatic milk carafe, or coffee profile. The Magnifica XS is a great one, but with fewer perks. Let’s discover the details in the following sections.

Flavor

Winner: Delonghi Eletta

Grinder

Delonghi Eletta and Magnifica XS are both great machines that come with a built-in burr grinder, which is ideal for coffee lovers who want to enjoy freshly ground coffee without having to deal with the hassle of using a separate one. The grind size can be adjusted to 13 different settings, which means I can change the coarseness to suit my preferences.

However, occasionally the beans will get stuck and won’t feed properly in Magnifica XS, especially if I’m using a dark roast. This isn’t a huge problem, but it is a bit annoying. Compared with the grinder of Eletta, however, which rarely has such a problem, it seems to work much more reliably and consistently.

Customization

Regarding the De’Longhi Eletta, it is a versatile and user-friendly espresso machine that allows you to choose the amount of ground coffee to use, the temperature of the water for brewing, and the cup size (standard, short, long, or extra-long). In my experience, this machine produces consistently good espresso with minimal effort. I love that I can make a strong cup of coffee with the press of a button and can follow the options and settings directly on the control panel.

With Magnifica XS, I can get the same kind of features, but less convenient due to the lack of an intuitive display.

Heating system

I have tested the Delonghi Eletta and the Magnifica XS, and I can say that Eletta’s two thermoblock systems (one for espresso and one for milk preparation) are definitely a better design. This means that no reheating time is required, and it can maintain a more consistent temperature for espresso and milk beverages.

The Magnifica XS also features a thermoblock technology but only has one, meaning that it takes time to reheat to make another cup and is not as functional as the Eletta.

Milk System

Winner: Delonghi Eletta

The Magnifica XS has a great cappuccino system, but it falls short compared to the Delonghi Eletta. Let me explain in detail.

Delonghi Magnifica XS allows you to create creamy froth using a manual steam wand. The process is quite straightforward. You simply place the milk container under the nozzle and press a button. However, before doing so, you need to estimate how much milk to use and take time to master foam milk.

That’s why I see that it doesn’t have the same level of convenience as its competitor. Eletta features an automated lattecrema system that does all the work for me, so all I have to do is sit back and enjoy the dense and long-lasting foam for my lattes and cappuccinos. On top of that, it has three milk frothiness levels. I can flexibly adjust the knob to suit my personal taste.

Another thing that I really like about it is the milk carafe. The milk I don’t use right away can be kept in the refrigerator and used at a later time. The self-cleaning feature is also very helpful and saves me valuable time.

Utility

Winner: Delonghi Eletta

The control panel of Eletta

You may know how frustrating it is when you have to wait for the espresso maker to heat up in the morning, especially when you’re trying to get out the door in a hurry. But with the DeLonghi Eletta, I can set the auto-start time to have the appliance ready at a certain time. This is a helpful trait that its competition lacks. As a result, I can use my time more effectively and have my coffee ready when needed.

Furthermore, Eletta has a “My coffee” option that allows you to save your favorite coffee settings and recall them with the touch of a button. This is a great feature if you have a favorite espresso that you like to drink on a regular basis. Delonghi Magnifica XS does not have this option, so you may be stuck with the pre-set blend whenever you want to make a different beverage.

Another reason I prefer the Eletta is its ease of use. With this model, I can simply choose the coffee taste I want from a well-programmed list. In terms of the Magnifica XS, I have to use the amount of ground dial and identify the correct dial position through trial and error. This can be frustrating, especially if you’re in a hurry.

Size

Winner: Delonghi Magnifica XS

Delonghi Magnifica XS is more compact and lightweight than Delonghi Eletta, making it a great pick for those looking for a smaller machine. It still has all the features of a larger machine, including a built-in grinder, milk container, water tank, etc., but it takes up less counter space and is easier to move around.

There is a slight disadvantage to the Eletta that it is a bit larger and heavier, thereby making it more difficult to adjust its position. If you have limited kitchen space, I think the Magnifica XS would be a better model to choose from.

You can see these differences below:

  • Magnifica XS: 9.4 inches x 17 inches x 13.8 inches ( weight: 20 pounds)
  • Eletta: 14.2 x 10.2 x 18.4 (weight: 24.5 pounds)

Delonghi Magnifica XS vs Eletta: Similarities

Besides the different aspects of Magnifica XS and Eletta, there are still many similar things when you consider buying a new espresso machine for your home. Keep reading and find out now!

Adjustable coffee spout

Adjustable spout of Magnifica XS
Adjustable spout of Magnifica XS

Delonghi Magnifica XS and Eletta both have an adjustable coffee spout. This allows you to customize the height of the spout max of 5.5 inches to suit your needs. Whether you want to use a taller mug or a shorter one, you can easily adjust the spout to get the perfect pour. It is especially useful when you like to make multiple types of coffee drinks.

Cup warmer

The cups must be kept dry and heated to preserve the temperature and the lovely color of the espresso cream for a longer period of time. Because of this, you will find it beneficial to set them on the cup warmer grill placed on top of each espresso machine.

Fortunately, DeLonghi Magnifica XS and Eletta both utilize this function and can keep your cup at the ideal temperature. I think it would be great for people looking for a way to enjoy a hot cup of coffee without having to wait for it to cool down.
