Delonghi Dinamica Plus vs Eletta: This is a face-off between two value-for-money espresso machines from the Italian brand. At the end of the day, the first one has my vote.
The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus boasts a range of advanced features that elevate the coffee-making experience right in your kitchen, such as a high-quality brew system, an extensive selection of pre-programmed beverages, the ability to be controlled remotely, an automatic milk frothing system, etc. Notably, it also sports the “cold brew” function, which can also be found in the pricier Jura Z10.
The Delonghi Eletta, on the other hand, doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as the winner. But if you just want to have a great espresso or cappuccino at home with just one touch, this one is a worthy contender.

Delonghi Dinamica Plus Vs Eletta: Differences
The Delonghi Dinamica Plus outperforms the Eletta with a score of 3-2. Here’s my thorough review and side-by-side comparison to guide you in choosing the one that’s right for you.
Coffee Flavour
Winner: Delonghi Eletta
Built-in Grinder
These bean-to-cup machines have stainless steel conical burr grinders with 13 grind adjustment settings. Having a built-in grinder means you don’t need to buy a separate one, thereby saving you time and money. Also, it gives more even grinding results than the metal blade grinder since it crushes the beans instead of chopping them.
With up to 13 grind settings, you can easily experiment and find the perfect grind size for various drinks and coffee beans. Just remember, the finer the grounds, the stronger and more bitter the taste will be – so go for a finer setting for an espresso and a more coarse one for a longer drink. To alter the grind size, always turn the dial on the bean feeder when the grinder is running.
My sole complaint with this grinder is its noise: it’s as loud as an operational vacuum cleaner. Although the noise only lasts a few minutes, it’s enough to disrupt the morning peace and potentially wake others. So make sure your kitchen door is either fully or partially closed when you prepare your daily caffeinated drinks.
Heating System
The DeLonghi Eletta has a twin thermoblock boiler system, while the Dinamica Plus has only one. So the first one takes the lead here with the ability to prepare espresso and steam milk simultaneously. This is definitely an added value for large settings such as offices or cafe houses, where there is a high demand for milk-based beverages, and quick and efficient preparation is essential.
With a single thermoblock boiler, the Dinamica Plus needs to take on each process one by one. But that’s not a big deal for home use since the thermoblock system reaches the optimum temperature for brewing espresso or steaming milk in a matter of seconds. Unlike a traditional boiler, the thermoblock heats only the amount of water needed for each task. This not only speeds up the preparation process but also reduces energy consumption, making it a more efficient and environmentally friendly option.
There is a metal cup warmer on top of both for up to two large cups. I love this function since it helps maintain the optimal temperature of the coffee and ensures that your beverage stays hot for longer, preventing heat loss during the milk frothing process. The difference is that the cup warming plate on the Delonghi Eletta is actively heated and can be set to turn on before you get out of bed. Meanwhile, the Dinamica Plus passive warming plate is just warm – not really hot.
Brewing System
Before extraction, these machines soak the coffee grounds in hot water to make them bloom. This process is called pre-infusion, which ensures that the extraction process maximizes aroma and reduces channeling, resulting in a full-bodied espresso.
The Delonghi Dinamica Plus vs Eletta extract espresso at a pressure of 19 and 15 bars, respectively. For those who don’t know, the minimum required pressure for pulling a nice espresso shot is around 9 bars, and both exceed this requirement. That means you can expect them to be more than enough to ensure proper extraction and produce high-quality espresso shots.
My hands-on experience revealed that both could produce rich and creamy espressos adorned with a thick, velvety crema. Of course, that’s the reward I got after tinkering with various settings, including grind size, aroma strength, and brewing temperature. The espresso that came out of the Dinamica Plus was too hot for immediate consumption, necessitating a cooling-off period.
Milk Frothing System
When it comes to preparing milk-based beverages, both of these awesome DeLonghi machines feature a patented LatteCrema milk frothing system. It comes equipped with a 600-ml removable milk pitcher that can be attached to the left of the machine when in use or stored in the fridge to keep residual milk cold and ready for your subsequent brew.
There is a froth knob on top that allows you to control the milk foam consistency, from hot milk with no froth to really airy froth. Through the intuitive display, you can also determine the desired quantity of milk foam. And once it’s finished frothing milk, you can twist the dial to the clean position, and the machine will flush hot water to purge any milk residues.
An added perk is their versatility in frothing a diverse array of milk types, including almond, soy, and oat. So even if you have dietary restrictions or personal preferences, you can enjoy their favorite coffee beverages without compromise. They whipped up great cappuccinos with thick, frothy milk foam, which I think will satisfy any Starbucks aficionados. However, they couldn’t achieve the creamy microfoam for perfect lattes that a manual wand in the hands of a skilled barista can achieve.
Design & Usability
Winner: Delonghi Dinamica Plus
Dimensions, Footprint, & Weight
Delonghi Dinamica Plus | Delonghi Eletta | |
---|---|---|
Dimensions | 9.3 x 14 x 17 inches | 14.2 x 10.2 x 18.4 inches |
Weight | 20.9 lbs | 24.2 lbs |
Both have an attractive box-shaped design complemented by chrome accents that lend a touch of luxury and expense without really hiking up the price. As with other DeLonghi super automatics, there’s too much plastic in their construction as a cost-saving measure, but they still exude a robust and premium feel.
The Dinamica Plus has a contemporary, high-tech vibe with its 3.5-inch touchscreen display, which is a notable improvement over the LCD text screen on the Delonghi Eletta. I personally don’t gravitate toward the built-in touchscreen display, but I wish the Eletta had a color display with some pretty icons, so this one wouldn’t feel out of place in any modern kitchen.
These units aren’t bulky or have a large footprint. But if you’re thinking of placing them beneath kitchen cabinets, careful consideration is needed, considering they are quite tall and feature top-loading bean hoppers. They’re also on the heavy side, so getting them into place can be a part of your workout session.
Pre-programmed Coffee Options

---|---|
Espresso Coffee Long Doppio+ Coffee Pot Cappuccino Latte Macchiato Cappuccino + Cappuccino Mix Hot Milk Caffelatte Flat White Espresso Macchiato Hot Water | Coffee Espresso Caffe Latte Macchiato Cappuccino Flat White Hot Milk Hot water |
If you want to turn your posh kitchen into a self-service bar or a miniature coffee shop, the Dinamica Plus is definitely your better bet. With up to 16 one-touch recipes, it feels like you have an in-house barista who is always at your beck and call. Just choose your desired drink, and the machine will do the rest. Sounds easy, right?
They both have a bypass doser chute, allowing the use of pre-ground coffee rather than coffee beans. This is a nifty feature if your guests want decaf coffee or your store of coffee beans is exhausted. The hot water function is a boon for those tea moments or for whipping up a warm cup of hot chocolate.
By the way, I really love the TrueBrew Over Ice function of the Dinamica Plus. Don’t let its name fool you – this one doesn’t employ the lengthy cold brew technique. Rather, it just brews at a cooler temperature and lesser pressure, resulting in a room-temperature espresso. Add a dash of ice to it, and voilà! You have an impeccable drink to beat the heat of those blazing summer days.
Another interesting option of the Dinamica Plus is the “Coffee Pot,” which brews up to six cups of espresso in one go. However, this one seems to use relatively few coffee grounds and too much water, leading to a watery espresso.
As with other espresso machines, you can adjust each specialty drink via a wide range of settings, including coffee strength, brewing temperature, water dosage, and milk froth volume. So just dive into a world of creativity, tweaking, and refining until you’ve concocted the perfect drink to suit your palate.
The Dinamica Plus offers four user profiles so that multiple individuals can have their ideal settings saved on the machine. This brilliant addition eliminates the possibility of cross modifications and means that every member of your household can enjoy their perfect brew with one touch.
Spout & Cup Clearance
Delonghi Dinamica Plus | Delonghi Eletta | |
---|---|---|
Spout Type | Dual | Dual |
Cup Clearance | 3.5-5.5 inches | 3.6-5.6 inches |
The height-adjustable dual spigot on both is among the best features as well, allowing you to accommodate various cup sizes. By lifting it all the way up, you can easily use larger containers, like travel mugs. It can also be lowered as close to your espresso cup as possible to minimize the risk of splashes, ensuring a clean and mess-free brewing process while preserving the integrity of the crema.
The dual spout also means you can prepare two cups of espresso at once. This is particularly valuable during busy mornings when you and your loved ones need your coffee fix promptly or when you’re hosting guests and want to serve multiple drinks efficiently.
Water Reservoir & Bean Hopper
Delonghi Dinamica Plus | Delonghi Eletta | |
---|---|---|
Water Reservoir | 1.8 liter | 2 liter |
Bean Hopper | 0.37 liter | 0.35 liter |
Their tank containers slide out from the front, eliminating the need to move the machine around or awkwardly reach behind the machine for refilling. They don’t need to be loaded very often throughout the day unless there is someone sipping espresso continuously in your family. I strongly recommend your daily brewing cycle start with fresh water so your espresso tastes as flavorful and aromatic as possible.
Each comes with a Delonghi water filter, which can optionally be used to remove impurities from your water. Unless you’re using bottled or pre-filtered water, the absence of the filter can result in espresso that doesn’t meet your expectations in terms of flavor and aroma. In addition, you also need to descale the machine more frequently due to mineral buildup, especially if you’re living in areas with high water hardness.
Both have airtight lids to create a sealed environment within the hoppers, preventing external factors like air, moisture, and light from coming into contact with the beans. Hence, you can leave your beans in there for a couple of days without worrying about aroma loss.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Winner: Tie
If you want your espresso machine to continue to treat you well, regular upkeep is a must. Fortunately, these DeLonghi super-automatic machines are a breeze to clean and maintain. Keeping them in peak condition simply involves simple routine tasks and the occasional automatic descaling cycle.
As mentioned above, these machines have an automatic program to clean the milk system after each use. After a few days, you should rinse the milk pitcher under running water or put it in the dishwasher, and it isn’t the only part that can be detached. The drip tray, waste bucket, and brew group are all completely removable for emptying and cleaning. Beyond that, giving the machine’s exterior a good wipe daily to clear away any splashes is a smart move.
Regarding descaling the machine, you will need to use the included descaling solution and follow the manufacturer’s guide to run an automatic cycle. The machine alerts you when this is due, and you can install the water filter to extend the time between descaling sessions.
Utilities & Other Features
Winner: Delonghi Dinamica Plus
Remote Control
An increasing number of household devices, including vacuums, TVs, refrigerators, and air conditioners, now offer remote control via smartphones. The Delonghi Dinamica Plus, among many bean-to-cup machines, is also joining this tech-savvy lineup, but it may be a gradual journey before this becomes a standard feature in the realm of espresso machines.
Via the Delonghi Coffee Link app, you can brew espresso with the Delonghi Dinamica Plus from a distance, including choosing your preferred beverage and making any necessary adjustments. You can even fine-tune the amount of poured milk froth in seconds, which is only available on the app. However, this application seems useless for the preparation of milk-based drinks since you still need to take the milk jug out of the fridge and attach it to the front of the machine.
Auto On/Off
Both can be pre-programmed to automatically turn off after a period of time ranging from 15 minutes to 3 hours to help conserve energy by ensuring that the machine doesn’t stay powered on unnecessarily when not in use. That way, this valuable function is not only environmentally friendly but also contributes to reducing your electricity bill.

Does the Dinamica not have “The coffee tastes delicious and rich every time”? A little concerned about having this Pro for Elleta and not Dinamica.
