In spite of the fact that the DeLonghi Eletta is a very capable and well-reviewed bean-to-cup coffee machine for home espresso makers, the Breville Oracle Touch provides a more advanced experience. However, the DeLonghi Eletta is also a good choice because it retains the simplicity and consistency of performance.

The Breville Oracle Touch is an incredible value for people who want a lot more for the same price. Easily operated and boasting modern features, it definitely won’t disappoint you. With a touchscreen display, it offers an array of creative coffee options for either automatic or manual use. It takes seconds rather than minutes to prepare great barista-based drinks just by a simple touch of your finger.

Although the DeLonghi Eletta produces similar espresso results, it requires a little bit more preparation time. Nevertheless, machines like the Breville Oracle Touch vs DeLonghi Eletta will make your brew at home more comfortably and for less money in the long run.

Breville Oracle Touch vs Delonghi Eletta: Differences

Homebrewers can now experience upgraded functionality in their own kitchen with the Breville Oracle Touch. That’s why it completely defeated the DeLonghi Eletta 5 to 0.

Design

The winner: Breville Oracle Touch

+ Size & Construction

The size of DeLonghi Eletta
The size of DeLonghi Eletta

There is a definite difference in design between the two espresso machines. Compared to the Breville Oracle Touch, which measures 15.4 x 14.7 x 17.9 inches and weighs 37.2 pounds, the DeLonghi Eletta measures 14.2 x 10.2 x 14.1 inches and weighs 24.2 pounds.

It is obvious from the comparison that the Eletta model is much smaller and lighter than the one from Breville. Breville Oracle Touch is bigger and heavier, so it takes up more space.

We can now turn our attention to the quality of construction and assembly of these 2 espresso machines. The Breville Oracle Touch is built of higher-quality stainless steel. It doesn’t mean that DeLonghi Eletta has a substandard quality build. It is just that the former is more expensive, and so offers a more dependable quality/construction.

In terms of color, there are 3 color options from the Breville: black stainless steel, brushed stainless steel, and black truffle, while there are only 2 colors offered by DeLonghi (black and silver).

+ Interface

Breville Oracle Touch is an upgrade because it features convenient ‘Touch’ functions. A touchscreen is an incredible addition to almost any coffee maker or espresso machine. On the screen, you can see the available drinks, and it’s so easy to use. It simply requires you to set your preferences, touch the screen, and follow the steps.

Oracle Touch integrates automation into every single stage. With this, you can easily make cappuccinos, flat whites, espressos, long blacks, and more.

On the contrary, there is no touch screen on the DeLonghi Eletta. Instead, you get an intuitive single-touch display. The espresso machine only requires a single button press to operate. Despite its convenience and ease of operation, this machine is suitable for every daily coffee drinker.

Storage

The Winner: Breville Oracle Touch

The Oracle Touch has a large 84-ounce water tank
The Oracle Touch has a large 84-ounce water tank

Eletta’s smaller size makes its water reservoir comparatively small, with a capacity of just 47 ounces. However, the bean hopper lets you hold 400g.

In contrast, the Oracle Touch has a larger 84-ounce water tank. Furthermore, its bean hopper is bigger, as it weighs half a pound more than the DeLonghi Eletta’s. In other words, it’s 100g larger than the Eletta. Breville’s Oracle Touch is therefore easier to maintain and use for new users in both ways.

In the case of an 84-ounce water container, you would need to refill every ten cups of coffee- I find that convenient and long enough. Eletta offers an automatic water reservoir refill indicator that alerts you when the water is low, so you won’t have to keep checking.

Furthermore, this machine is a more advanced model than the brand’s previous models despite having a relatively small 47-ounce water reservoir. Compared to their earlier versions, DeLonghi Eletta has a larger water tank and bean container.

Programmability

The Winner: Breville Oracle Touch

Breville Oracle Touch has technology that automatically brews espresso for you. You can select and brew coffee at each stage of the process using the touchscreen. There are 5 coffee drinks to choose from, such as flat white, espresso, latte, and Americano. Additionally, you are able to customize and save up to 8 different drinks.

The temperature of the milk, texture, amount of grind, and temperature can all be customized within each programmable option.

However, if you choose a DeLonghi Eletta, you can set the grind, temperature, and volume — all necessary variables for espresso. And a better way to customize the Eletta is using the Automatic Cappuccino and Milk Menu option on its control panel.

Delonghi Eletta also offers grinding sizes and temperatures that can be adjusted. Unfortunately, the milk texture level cannot be altered. In fact, the brand offers an automatic milk frother, but on top of that, it incorporates the exclusive Latte Crema System. Yes, it will give you thick, rich foam with a single touch of a button.

Coffee grinder

The Winner: Breville Oracle Touch

The Breville Oracle Touch’s automatic grinder and tamper

Neither the Breville Oracle Touch nor DeLonghi Eletta has an integrated coffee grinder. Nevertheless, the Breville Oracle Touch’s automatic grinding and tamping function make it stand out from the crowd.

The machine automatically grinds and tamps the correct dose (22g) of coffee after you select your favorite coffee. During tamping, the coffee grounds are flattened to create a smooth texture by the tamping, keeping the extraction from becoming bitter.

With the DeLonghi Eletta, coffee is ground quickly and effectively. Besides a bypass doser, it has a built-in grinder with 13 customizable grinding settings. It is a fairly good grinder. And, for you to be able to make tasty espresso that does not taste weak, you need a basic understanding of coffee strength and grind.

As a result, I recommend the Breville Oracle Touch to beginners. This is because using the machine takes some of the work out of making espresso at home for those who aren’t familiar with it. This makes the Delonghi Eletta suitable for intermediate users rather than beginners.

Heating System

The Winner: Breville Oracle Touch

+ Heat-up time

Breville is known for the record-breaking heating times of their espresso machines. Some can heat up in just three seconds! This is because its dual boilers are made of stainless steel. When using the Breville Oracle Touch, its auto-on setting ensures this coffee machine will heat up whenever you have a need for it.

The portafilter on this model is also heated in advance, so it will heat up before you add your coffee grinds. You know what happens then, don’t you? The tamping process enhances the taste of your coffee by using an already-warm portafilter. In that regard, Oracle Touch really shines when it comes to automatic tamping!

In contrast, DeLonghi Eletta espresso machines typically take 60 seconds to heat up to brew. This machine can make cappuccinos, coffee lattes, and latte macchiatos in under three minutes with its Automatic Cappuccino system.

A dual Thermoblock heating element ensures that the heater warms up smoothly. Nonetheless, it isn’t as fast as the Breville Oracle Touch

+ Temperature control

The Breville Oracle Touch provides both the PID technology and the stainless steel dual boiler
The Breville Oracle Touch provides both the PID technology and the stainless steel dual boiler

Providing both the PID (digital temperature control) technology and the stainless steel dual boiler, Breville Oracle Touch offers an excellent combination. Although the Oracle Touch is heavier with the dual boiler, it is faster and more efficient with it as well.

Its function is to adjust the water temperature precisely so that espresso can have its finely nuanced flavor. Full coffee extraction occurs only when the temperature of the water is perfectly balanced. Moreover, even if you drink multiple espressos a day, you won’t lose the temperature while brewing and steaming!

Eletta comes equipped with a professional heating element and electronic temperature control. The dual boiler system means it is capable of preparing espresso and steaming milk automatically.

Breville Oracle Touch vs Delonghi Eletta: Similarities

Bean to cup functionality

There is no doubt that the Breville Oracle Touch vs DeLonghi Eletta are both bean-to-cup espresso coffee machines. Their screen displays allow users to select what beverages they want. From there, the machine handles the rest. You can easily adjust the volume, temperature, and strength of coffee.

Bean-to-cup espresso makers are more expensive, however, they provide you with your very own personal barista experience over an extended period of time. They allow you to make unlimited cups of espresso at no additional cost. Adding beans directly to the bean hopper also allows you to experiment with different roasts and blends.

Automatic steam wand

These steam wands from Breville Oracle Touch vs DeLonghi Eletta are of the highest quality and are perfect for coffee lovers. In the typical espresso machine, milk not only steams but is also heated to a temperature of your choice automatically upon pressing a button.

The only thing you have to care about is brewing your own favorite, delicious espresso. There is no need to worry about the quality of frothed milk; microfoam is great for latte art.

Creating thousands of those tiny bubbles is what creates that perfect velvety texture. For that to happen, you need the right steam pressure. In this way, Breville and Delonghi’s automated steam wands can produce the silky smooth microfoam that latte-artists prefer.
