1. ESPRESSO FLAVOR
The Winner: Dinamica Plus
Bar Pump System
The debate is between a 19 bar pump pressure and a 15 bar pump. The Dinamica Plus offers the highest bar pump pressure for a powerful punch. Everybody who has operated an espresso maker knows that it loses some pressure during extraction.
So a 19 bar pump, despite losing some pressure, will still fully extract espresso than a 15 bar pump. The ideal is 15 bar but during the espresso extraction process, this reduces which means relatively weaker taste and lower consistency rate.
Coffee Grinder
The Dinamica Plus comes with an integrated conical grinder with 13 accurate adjustable settings. The Dinamica shares the same number of adjustable levels as the Dinamica Plus.
The difference, however, lies in the build quality of the grinder. The Dinamica boasts of a steel burr grinder. Between conical and burr grinder, you have to consider the grind consistency and temperature results.
The Dinamica Plus does a great job of maintaining a cool and clog-free grinding environment for medium to dark roast coffee beans. It does not affect the shot quality or the taste and aroma of the espresso.
The Dinamica, on the other hand, does not maintain the same degree of consistency in retention. Though it does not heat up too much after intense and repetitive use. But compared to the performance of conical grinders, burr grinders do reheat if you brew back to back. Also, there will be slight inconsistencies in the grind size with the Dinamica.
Over-Ice TrueBrew Process
The Delonghi Dinamica has a special TrueBrew system that lets you brew right over an ice cubes-filled glass. It has all the automatic functionality in place to brew iced coffee immediately.
Why do you need this? That’s because cold brew tastes different than espresso. Instead of buying cold brew bags or brewing a pitcher of cold brew separately, the Dinamica lets you brew cold brew from the machine itself at the touch of a button.
The cold brew tastes exactly like cold brew, not bitter espresso diluted with cold water. It has a rich but smooth and less acidic flavour which is what makes cold brew a delicious treat on a hot summer day!
Now, according to my research, the Dinamica is the only full-automatic espresso machine that does this. The Delonghi Dinamica Plus doesn’t have this. So that’s one way in which the Dinamica is better than Dinamica Plus.
2. DOSE CONTROL
The Winner: Dinamica Plus
Customizable Coffee Drinks
Between the Dinamica Plus and Dinamica, the former lets you personalize both espresso and milk espresso drinks as per your tastes. It has multiple coffee recipes starting with espresso (espresso, coffee, long, doppio, and coffee pot) and milk espresso drinks (cappuccino, latte macchiato, cappuccino-plus, cappuccino mix, hot milk, caffe latte, flat white, and espresso macchiato).
You can adjust the volume of espresso, strength, and temperature. And save up to 3 drinks and a guest drink based on those customizations. The added advantage here is also that you can customize any and all coffee recipes using Dinamica Plus’s smartphone app.
Besides the adjustable Aroma function, the Dinamica does not offer such a wide variety of coffee drinks. It does, however, let you adjust the length of espresso, the strength, and the grind size. But no personalized profiles or specialty drinks like the Dinamica Plus has. It also features a hot milk and cappuccino setting which is standard.
3. MILK SYSTEM
The Winner: Dinamica Plus
The Dinamica Plus lets you froth milk in slightly larger quantities than the Dinamica. You can customize this setting via the control panel or with the app on your phone. The frothed milk then directly transfers into the cup as the espresso does too.
This means you do not have to move things around to pull the espresso shot while also frothing the milk in the same spot. It happens in the same place at the same time – at the touch of a button.
The milk container is removable which means you get to store the milk jar in the fridge. It has a solid seal that lets no air in or out. I would also like to add that this milk container is a thermal milk jug so the seal not only prevents contamination but it ensures that the milk stays at the optimal temperature to avoid spoilage.
As you can see, the Dinamica does not come with a thermal jug. The steam wand/frother features a ‘Hot Milk’ and ‘Cappuccino’ setting and a dial on top for letting out the steam.
You have to tilt the steam wand and slide in the milk jug, just like they do in a barista. The only difference is that the steam wand in the Dinamica is shorter, so it’s trickier to use. Yet it does a decent job of steaming the milk. Though it’s more invasive and time-consuming than the Dinamica Plus.
4. CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
The Winner: Dinamica
Adjustable Cup Size
Both the Delonghi Dinamica Plus and the Dinamica have adjustable cup settings. But in terms of placing the cup under the coffee spout, the Dinamica is better equipped at handling different cup sizes.
The dual spout has enough room to brew two shots side by side. Or you can just as easily place the cup/glass in the middle and have it fill up a single serving.
Whatever you want – the Dinamica doesn’t limit you to using just one espresso cup for everything.
Be it for a double shot, you can’t place two small espresso cups side-by-side in the Dinamica Plus the way you can on the Dinamica. You will have to physically remove the thermal jug to widen the space a bit.
Having said that, the maximum cup height on the Dinamica Plus is 5.3 inches. And on the Dinamica it is 5.5 inches.
Capacity
The bean hopper capacity between both espresso machines is also different. The Dinamica Plus has a slightly larger bean hopper (300g) than the Dinamica (250g). But they both have the same water tank and grounds container size.
But to compare, the Dinamica is more compact but it also requires more refilling.

TFT Color Display
Delonghi Dinamica Plus’s use is ten times more simplified and quick with a colour display. It features touch buttons for all its smart controls. And a wider selection of coffee drinks, customizable user profiles, and app-control functionality for tech geeks.
Even though this contributes to the high price of the Dinamica Plus, I think it’s a steal considering the Dinamica doesn’t offer this.
Remote Operation with Smartphone App
In addition to its clear colour display, the De’Longhi Dinamica Plus can also be operated remotely through an app. With the app, you can save your favourite coffee recipes under your own profile.
There is also a compartment for ground coffee, so you can make decaf as well. Warm your espresso cups on the hotplate ahead of time to prevent your coffee from cooling too fast.
The cleaning programs make maintaining the machine easy. This app shows you step by step what you need to do, so you don’t need to grab a manual just in the event that there is a defect with the machine.

1. PRE-INFUSION
