Delonghi Dinamica Plus Vs Primadonna: What is better? My short answer is the former option. Yes, I bet many will object to my decision, as these devices seem identical in both looks and features. I will clarify everything now.

The Delonghi Dinamica Plus wins for its more consistent espresso quality, which can be described in three words: “robust, smooth, and nuanced.” This well-rounded machine boasts a 60-ounce water tank, making it ideal for families and small offices. I have also been terribly fascinated by its quick and easy cleaning cycles and intuitive personalization.

The runner-up Delonghi Primadonna delivers various one-touch coffees as well. More or less, it also possesses the same functionality as the winner. But its milk system is less stable, and its interface design isn’t really attractive.

Delonghi Dinamica Plus vs Primadonna: Key Differences

The Dinamica Plus wins against the Primadonna Class (4–1), although they are quite similar and almost equally excellent. The former has more stable extractions and cleaning cycles, and that’s not all. Let’s get into the details!

COFFEE FLAVOR

The Winner: Delonghi Dinamica Plus

Grinder

Both Delonghi Dinamica Plus and Primadonna share the same grinder shape (conical), but differ in materials. Specifically, the Delonghi Dinamica Plus boasts a conical steel grinder, whereas its competitor sports a stainless steel burr grinder.

If I had to recommend either, I would lean toward the stainless steel grinder as it is more durable, less prone to rust, and offers better flavor quality.

The stainless steel grinder of the Primadonna isn’t so bad. It works perfectly fine without causing jams or having trouble feeding coffee beans to the grinder. But it usually heats up quickly, which affects the flavor of the coffee. What’s more, during testing, I found the Primadonna quite noisy when brewing coffee and frothing milk, making it not ideal for households with small kids.

In terms of texture settings, both machines have 13 grinder settings, which give you a lot of freedom to change the taste and strength of your espresso.

Dosing and tamping

Both Delonghi Dinamica Plus and Primadonna are super-automatic machines, which means they will offer you a 100% hands-free experience

The dosing and tamping steps are automatic as well. The pair can grind, dose, and tamp a certain amount of beans, depending on the specific recipe. I appreciate how simple it is to configure coffee strength, as these machines have special buttons on their interface designed for this purpose.

MILK SYSTEM

The Winner: Delonghi Dinamica Plus

The milk systems of these machines have been working equally smoothly for me since the first day of testing. These super-automatic systems even allowed me to fine-tune the milk foam texture to my liking.

I can affirm that they are best at creating dry foam for drinks like latte macchiato or cappuccinos, which need lots of airy microfoam. Although the carafes can also handle creamy milk foam, it still has a slightly dry and fluffy texture rather than being 100% creamy.

But why does Dinamica Plus win this round? The reason is that its competitor has a less stable milk system. While it’s insignificant, it’s still worth considering.

UTILITIES

The Winner: Delonghi Dinamica Plus

One-Touch Beverages

These models have a wide range of one-touch drinks that let you brew various drinks with a touch of the screen. Getting an espresso from them is a breeze: turn it on, press the button, and drink coffee. I’ve tested all of them, and the performance is quite similar.

But the number of one-touch drinks these two machines offer is significantly different. The menu of the Dinamica Plus includes 14 beverages, while its counterpart offers only six preset drinks. For the price of the Prima Donna, it should have had more drink options.

Control Panel

The 3.5-inch TFT color LCD screen on the Delonghi Dinamica Plus drew me in at first sight. Meanwhile, the Primadonna is only equipped with an LCD display with buttons. Just because I prefer the touch screen doesn’t mean Primadonna’s screen is bad. It’s just a matter of preference.

Remote Control

DeLonghi Dinamica Plus allows you to brew and control the extraction process via the De’Longhi Coffee Link app, which is available for free on both Android and Apple. The Prima Donna belongs to an older product line, so it lacks this convenient feature.

It allows you to make yourself a coffee from your bed or desk. Of course, if you want a cup of coffee in bed in the morning, you must leave your machine on standby the day before and remember to leave the milk tank attached.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

The Winner: Tie

I find these models relatively easy to clean, and I bet they will satisfy most users. The pair has various cleaning cycles designed for rinsing the brew path, descaling, and washing the milk system. Depending on your chosen cleaning cycle, it can take 15 seconds to 20 minutes.

They also have removable brew groups, allowing you to easily wash the whole part with clear water (instead of soap and chemicals) before letting it dry naturally.

Delonghi Dinamica Plus Vs Primadonna: Similarities

COFFEE DRAWER CAPACITY

Both machines can serve up to 14 servings before running out of water. For me, 14 servings are a good number. But remember that the Prima Donna has a bigger water tank, so its container may store a more considerable amount. Anyway, as I mentioned, 14 servings are a good number already.

ADJUSTABLE DISPENSERS

The pair has an adjustable spout to fit both tall and short cups. As for the Dinamica Plus, its spout can be adjusted up to 5.5 inches. With the Prima Donna, its spout height ranges from 3.4 to 5.6 inches.
