Jura C60 vs C65: Which Is The Better Automatic Bean-To-Cup Coffee Machines?!

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

Both C60 and C65 are super-automatic coffee machines in product line C of Jura. Both are easy to use and can help you make good cups of coffee or espresso just by simple switch and touch. So, it is tough to decide the better machine in Jura C60 vs C65 comparison.

I personally prefer the Jura C65 to the C60 as it has a better and quieter built-in grinder and a studier design than the C60 does. The C65 also has more color options than the C60.

Though the original Jura C60 has all the programable features and technologies presented on the C65, it has only the “Black” color option, and its grinder is a little bit louder than that of the Jura C65. Yet, the Jura C60 is still a good choice in terms of an entry-level automatic coffee machine.

Jura C60 vs C65: Differences

To me, the Jura C65 wins 2-0 against the Jura C60 for its grinder and design. In terms of the coffee and espresso flavor, the C65 and C60 give me a similar experience, so I give them a tie.

Grinder

Winner: Jura C65

Jura C65 bean hopper and grinder
Jura C65 bean hopper and grinder

At a glance, the grinder of Jura C60 vs C65’s are similar since both use stainless steel conical burr grinders with 5 grinding settings. However, I notice a slight difference in the sound when they are operating. I see that the grinder in Jura C65 is a bit quieter and faster than in the C60. This may not be a big deal with some people, but for those who prefer machines that have a smooth and quiet operation process, this slight difference can make a plus.

The Aroma+ technology of C65’s grinder can be attributed to this discrepancy. According to the brand, the Aroma+ grinders can make the grinding process two times quicker and smoother, compared to the standard conical burr grinders.

That is the only difference I’ve noticed in their grinders so far. Other grinder parameters are the same for Jura C690 vs C65. Both include a bean hopper of 7 oz capacity with an aroma-preserve lid for keeping beans always fresh and ready for the next brewing times.

Design & Appearance

Winner: Jura C65

In my opinion, the Jura C65 has better build quality and design than the C60. The Jura C60’s plastic case is heated up quickly during its operation, which may reduce the durability of the machine, especially for daily heavy-duty use.

Besides, the Jura C60 has only the black color option, while the C65 has the color options of black and platinum/black. The latter color option looks beautiful and luxurious, which would be suitable for your modern coffee corner at home.

Brewing technology & Coffee taste

Tie!

The Jura C60 vs C65 have the same brewing technology
The Jura C60 vs C65 have the same brewing technology

It’s a tie in this category because both Jura C65 and C60 machines are equipped with the standard technology of Jura for producing great coffee and espresso shot. The Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P) and 15-bar high-performance pump pressure allow the machines to make you a full-bodied and true espresso.

I tried brewing my coffee with both machines and got satisfying coffee drinks. The taste and crema layer are decent, and the drink is still hot when pulled out from the spout. Sometimes, I want to have strong-intensity coffee cups, and these two machines can fulfill my need because they allow me to adjust coffee strengths (strong, extra, mild, and normal).

However, these machines sometimes produce mild and watery espresso drinks, and I guess that the coffee grinds are not fine enough. So, I often use pre-ground coffee and put it into the bypass dosers on these machines. Besides, though the milk frothers on C65 and C60 work well, the milk foam is not dense as I expected. But I do not use the milk frother much, so this is not a big problem for me.

Jura C60 vs C65: Similarities

Both the C60 and C65 coffee machines of Jura are nearly identical because they are fabricated with similar Jura standard technologies and offer the same set of programmable features.

Jura’s standard technologies

The standard technologies that Jura applied to their C60 and C65 machines include:

  • Thermoblock heating system allowing the machine to heat up fast and be able to make several severings without waiting too long;
  • The CLARIS and IWS (Intelligent Water System) technologies for the water tank helping the machines to filter the minerals in the water to prevent damage to the heating system and detect the time for changing the water filter, respectively;
  • The PEP (Pulse Extraction Process) brewing technology contributing to controlling the brewing process, ensuring consistency and precision for every coffee pull of these machines;
  • The Fine Foam Technology (FFT) for the milk frothing system helping the machines to provide quality foam for your milk-based expresso drinks;
  • The programmable Energy Saving Mode for effective energy saving, which allows you can adjust the auto-off time period for the machines from 15 mins to 15 hours.

Operation & Programmability

Jura C60 and C65 are bean-to-cup coffee machines with one-switch operating. It is easy to get familiar with operating and programming them. They have many features, and all of them are demonstrated clearly in the manual. The manuals are well-presented and easy to understand and follow. Here, I will mention the programable features regarding coffee preparations as they are what I like most about these machines.

Two competitors, Jura C60 vs C65, both have programable settings for easy coffee making. They provide 4 coffee preparations (single/double espresso, and single/double espresso), with adjustable volumes from 0.5 – 8 oz, 4 coffee intensity settings (mild/normal/strong/extra), and two adjustable temperature levels (normal/high).

It took me several tries to get used to their programmable settings and determine the most suitable for my morning coffee cups. One more thing I figured out after several fails is that these machines give the best flavor with freshly non-oily coffee beans. And for the dark roasted oily beans, it prefers using pre-ground coffee to get the tasty drinks.
