Jura ENA 8 vs J6: Compare 4 Key Factors To Find The Better Espresso Machine For Home-use Daily

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

In the Jura ENA 8 vs J6 comparison, you’ll find that both models have several common features that make them suitable for daily use. However, if I had to choose, I would go with the Jura J6.

The Jura J6, as the winner, provides more specialty drinks and more brewing and frothing features. The dual spout and the ability to control the temperature and texture of the milk foam are the features that make it stand out. The bigger capacity alleviates the stress of refilling the container with water or beans too often.

It doesn’t mean that the Jura ENA 8 is not a good choice for home use. Its space-saving design and smaller capacity make it ideal for families with no more than 3 drinkers. It also has some of the same cutting-edge technologies as the Jura J6 to make good espresso. This could be a nice choice for coffee lovers who are working with a tighter budget.

Jura ENA 8 vs J6: Differences

The Jura J6 beats the ENA 8 by a score of 4-2. It offers more coffee drinks and a more advanced milk system. However, either one is an excellent option for daily use. Read on to find out which option is most suitable for you.

1. Dose Control

The Winner: Jura J6

Coffee Drinks

Jura J6 offers 13 preset coffee drinks

Both espresso makers offer an interesting list of coffee drinks. You don’t have to settle or create your own barista-like espresso drinks at home. The machine does that for you, just like a barista, at the touch of a button.

However, the Jura J6 has more preset coffee drinks than the ENA 8. Where the J6 offers 13 drinks, the ENA 8 only offers 10.

However, this does not mean that the Jura ENA 8 is incapable of making a variety of beverages.
Both machines offer nearly identical pre-programmed drinks, including ristretto, espresso, coffee, latte macchiato, flat white, cappuccino, portion of milk foam, and more. The Jura J6 lets you choose double espresso, double coffee, and double ristretto. This makes it seem like it has more pre-set coffee drinks.

2. Milk System

The Winner: Jura J6

The Jura J6 has a system for making milk foam that can be programmed, but the ENA 8 doesn’t have a system like that. While both models allow you to adjust the coffee’s strength and brewing temperature, only the J6 model allows you to control the temperature and texture of the milk. If you want more or less foam on the milk, all you have to do is turn the knob on the milk spout to make the appropriate adjustment.

The ENA 8’s milk system is automatic, and you can only adjust the portion of milk foam you want based on your selected drink.

It’s a really cool extra feature on the Jura J6. I prefer for my flat white to have more foam milk. Only the Jura J6 can do it for me between two.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: It’s a Tie!

Size

The Jura ENA 8 has a water tank that holds 1 liter of water, which is enough for a home espresso machine. The Jura J6, on the other hand, has a water tank that holds 2.1 liters, which makes it stand out because it is somewhat bigger and less accommodating of limited space.

However, I think the water tank’s capacity of 2.1 liters is sufficient to meet a family’s espresso needs. In other words, after the morning brew is done, you won’t have to worry about running out of water. You will have plenty of water left to drink before refilling the water tank. The same is true when entertaining guests. It’s clear that the Jura J6’s big capacity makes it a good choice for hosting parties or large gatherings.

In terms of dimensions, however, the Jura ENA 8 is undeniably more sleek, compact, and lightweight. Its 1-liter capacity makes the Jura ENA 8 convenient for brewing a few rounds daily. The water tank is also easy to fill, clean, and maintain.

It is possible to say the same thing about both of their bean hoppers. The bean hopper is where you keep your coffee beans to ensure they are always fresh and ready to be ground whenever you want. While both models of espresso machines grind the beans on demand to maximize flavor and aroma, the ENA 8’s bean hopper is considerably smaller than the one that comes with the J6. The J6 measures 8.8 ounces, while the ENA 8 is only 4.4 ounces.

This huge capacity is also present in the coffee grounds container, which is responsible for storing the brewed coffee pucks. The ENA 8 can store up to 10 coffee servings (coffee pucks), while the J6 can store up to 16 coffee pucks.

4. Utilities

The Winner: It’s a Tie!

Dual Coffee Spout

With the new Jura J6, you’ll be able to brew two cups of espresso simultaneously. That means you can make two espressos with the push of a button, which will take the same amount of time as making a single cup.

The Jura ENA 8 does not come with this ability. Because it only has a single coffee spout, it can only make one cup of espresso at a time. That means preparing espresso coffee for two people on the Jura ENA 8 will take a minute or two longer than it would on the J6.

Cup Clearance

Compared to the J6, the coffee spout on the ENA 8 has a greater adjustment range. The ENA 8 has a minimum cup clearance of 2.2 inches and a maximum of 5.4 inches, while the J6’s range from 2.6 inches to 4.4 inches.

It is always to my taste for the top of my latte to be covered in a thick layer of milk foam. For this reason, I need to use a cup that is a little bit higher so that my milk layer does not spill out. At this point, Jura Ena 8 has proven to be the superior contender.

Jura ENA 8 vs J6: Similarities

1. Brewing Technology

You can expect that both the ENA 8 and the J6 will have many of the same brewing features. These include the Pulse Extraction Process, a 15-bar pump pressure system, and the Thermoblock heating system.

These technologies ensure you can get delicious, smooth, and aromatic espresso cup after cup. No matter what kind of coffee beans, roasts, or whether it has caffeine or not, the taste and texture will always be the same.

Regarding decaf drinks, both of these espresso makers come equipped with a bypass. You can change all the settings for the pre-ground coffee extraction to get a stronger or weaker espresso flavor, as you do with brewing from the bean hopper.

2. Smart App-Connect

Both the Jura ENA 8 and the Jura J6 work with the J.O.E. app, which is a smart connect app made by Jura that lets the espresso machine be managed and customized using a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet.

On your mobile device, you can select the drink you want and check for notifications about the need to clean and adjust all of the important aspects of coffee.
