The Saeco Xelsis has a compact yet sophisticated design that should be the highlight of any kitchen space. The quality of the espresso and milk foam of this model is what impresses me the most. It also boasts a generous 15-one-touch beverages system if you are looking for a jack-of-all-trades espresso maker, Saeco Xelsis.

In terms of Jura J6, I liked its excellent espresso and creamy milk foam. Overall, this machine is reliable. However, its espresso quality is inconsistent when compared to Xelsis. Nonetheless, I suggest this model for small families that like milk-based meals.

Jura J6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Differences

Saeco Xelsis wins 3-1 against Jura J6, and they tie in the round of espresso flavor. Jura J6, by no means, is not a formidable device. But compared to Saeco Xelsis, its one-touch system could be more impressive. And cleaning it won’t be as thorough as Saeco Xelsis.

Espresso flavor

Tie

Sweet, bitter, nuanced, nutty, and robust. The espresso quality of these machines is phenomenal. I’m not exaggerating. This is exactly what we should get from machines of this price range. Also, if you are looking forward to enjoying shots with coffee crema, you can definitely get it with Jura J6 and Saeco Xelsis. But don’t expect it to be thick because that’s not a good sign, either. Thick crema will have a bubble-like texture and can easily ruin the velvety mouthfeel.

One-touch beverages

Winner: Saeco Xelsis

The list of one-touch beverages of these machines are:

  • Saeco Xelsis: Espresso, coffee, cappuccino, latte macchiato, caffee latte, flat white, espresso lungo, Americano, espresso ristretto, ristretto, espresso doppio, caffe au lait, froth milk, warm milk, hot water
  • Jura J6: Cappuccino, latte macchiato, 1 portion milk, espresso, coffee, hot water, ristretto, flat white, macchiato

Grinder’s true operation

Winner: Jura J6

In terms of grinders’ operation, I find both the Aroma G3 grinder on Jura J6 and the flat burr on Saeco Xelsis potent. They can deliver very fine ground when I set the ground level high. And the noise is pretty decent too. So overall, the real-life operation of the grinders is impressive.

But I want to comment further on the grinders’ design, which is why I pick Jura J6 as the winner of this round. The Aroma G3 is a conical burr grinder. The conical shape is designed to naturally push all the previously-dosed coffee ground down to the brew path. As a result, it avoids jams and leftover beans more than any other grinder shape, including the flat grinder on Saeco Xelsis. In fact, the flat grinders are quite susceptible to leftover gunk.

Milk System

Winner: Saeco Xelsis

In this regard, Saeco Xelsis and Jura J6 perform admirably. I like how they can deliver various types of milk textures, from creamy and wet to light and dry. Overall, lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, or any other milk-based recipe is a simple task with this pair.

But there are things I’m not fond of about these machines’ milk system operation. Saeco Xelsis is quite a messy machine in this aspect. It bursts water around when the milk steaming step comes up. But when the milk starts coming out, it no longer splatters around.

As for Jura J6, its milk tends to be lukewarm or quite cool for a hot cup of coffee in the morning. For me, this is a major buzzkill. Temperature performance is highly important in espresso machines. So Jura J6’s weakness in the milk department icks me more than the water splashing of Saeco Xelsis.

Cleaning & Maintain

Winner: Saeco Xelsis

Due to its HygieClean technology, which helps thoroughly clean the milk stream of any impurities, I prefer Xelsis in this regard. In addition, no leftover milk exists since the device forces high-pressure, heated water through the passage.

The product features several full cleaning cycles aside from that. As a result, maintaining a clean machine is simple. I tested it, and I can confirm that the cycles function. To achieve the best results, mix the cleaning with a particular solution.

When it comes to washing the Jura J6, all I have to do is add a cleaning tablet and press the washing cycle button. However, considering that I occasionally still detect a slight aroma of stale coffee, the end product is untidy because the system fails to remove the brew path and milk path of leftovers completely.

Jura J6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Similarities

Jura J6 and Saeco Xelsis don’t share that many similarities. But there are 2 that I think are worth mentioning. Check them out below!

Drip tray with sensor

Both devices own a sensor-integrated drip tray. This means that whenever the trays are full, the sensor will signal to the main interface and notify users that it’s time to clear it before the water overflows. Thanks to this sensor feature, I can deal with a manageable tray that could easily make a mess of my kitchen stand.

Twin brewing

Jura J6 and Saeco Xelsis both are designed with twin brewing features. Only some machines have this, in case you are wondering. So it’s nice to see that these potent devices can handle more than one single cup of espresso at a time. But remember that only Saeco Xelsis can brew 2 cappuccinos at a time. This convenience doesn’t apply to Jura J6 because it has a single cappuccino spout, which means that this recipe’s twin-brewing isn’t possible on this device.
