Which espresso machine in the battle of Jura Z6 vs Saeco Xelsis performs better and is worth its price tag more? For me, Saeco Xelsis excels with its stable brewing operation.
The Saeco Xelsis‘s espresso has been of exceptional quality. I get wonderfully balanced and nuanced beverages with velvety coffee crema on top. This machine also produces excellent microfoam, even though it’s messy while dosing. Overall, I suggest this machine for the price that it offers.
The runner-up, Jura Z6, has a larger water tank that requires less frequent refilling. The espresso is likewise of high grade. However, it has distinct flaws in temperature control and milk foam, which I shall discuss in further detail.

Jura Z6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Differences
Saeco Xelsis wins 3-2 against Jura Z6 thanks to its more powerful and consistent temperature control and milk system. Its espresso tastes equally great as Jura Z6, but consistency is what the later model lacks. I will give you more details below!
Grinder
Winner: Jura Z6
The Saeco Xelsis is a flat burr grinder that produces smooth and equal grinding. It has 12 various options, so I was able to change the final texture, but it is appropriate for the sorts of beans I use each time. Overall, I’m pleased with this grinder. Despite making more noise than the Jura Z6, the ground texture is more uniform and smoother.
Jura Z6 with Aroma G3 grinder is a traditional technology used in practically every Jura model. It is essentially a conical burr grinder with six distinct settings that may produce a variety of coffee ground textures. So far, my experience with the Jura Z6 grinder has shown that it consistently produces consistent results.
What about the long term? Which grinder is the best? The conical design of the Jura Z6 will be less defective in the next years since the conical form can prevent clogging most of the time.
Heating system
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
This pair features single Thermoblocks built into its system to rapidly and nicely brew espressos and coffees. However, each performer’s performance has stood out for me.
The temperature of Xelsis’ last sips has been scorching and boiling, but not so hot that it burns my tongue. Drinks made with Jura Z6 are warm and calming but cool quickly because of the low out-of-the-tap temperature.
This will be fine if you want to consume it soon after brewing. However, if you want to sip your coffee slowly, as I do, Xelsis is the superior option.
Milk System
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Saeco Xelsis’ milk system is much more diverse regarding milk foam texture. The Saeco Xelsis produces light, silky, and dry foam for cappuccinos and richer, creamier milk lattes or flat whites. Overall, it can accompany espresso to make many different kinds of milk-based recipes.
The operation, however, could be smoother. Before and after pouring milk, the dispenser will occasionally dispense steaming water randomly. This is the minus point of Saeco Xelsis.
The Jura Z6’s milk system is similar to the Xelsis. It, like Xelsis, froths milk using an external carafe connected to the device through a simple tube. However, the Jura Z6 isn’t made for microfoam. I can’t get the machine to froth any thing drier than steamed milk. And the milk temperature isn’t the best either.
Cleaning & Maintain
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Saeco Xelsis’s additional cleaning cycles enable you to clean from briefly to extensively. The HygieSteam feature is the most outstanding. It uses high-pressure hot steam to clean the brew route and milk tube. Because the method is quick and simple, I recommend doing it after each brewing session for the best espresso quality.
Both the Xelsis and the Jura Z6 have a 20-minute cleaning cycle. We cleaned the entire machine with Xelsis using a cleaning solution combined with water. We utilize cleaning capsules with Z6 to thoroughly clean the device and don’t have to remove the brew group to wash separately.
Water tank
Winner: Jura Z6
Because we are seeking an espresso machine that can amuse a large group of people, the Jura Z6 has a superior design. Its water tank can hold up to 81 oz, whereas Xelsis can only hold 57 oz. Also, because the water tank is readily visible and on the side, I find it simple to remove and refill.
Jura Z6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Similarities
Jura E6 shares some similarities with Saeco Xelsis that I want to comment. Check out these features below!
Auto-purge
Jura Z6 and Saeco Xelsis are designed with the auto-purge feature that briefly runs water through the brew path to eliminate leftover coffee grounds and smell. This helps maintain the consistency of espresso quality through many brews. In addition, the auto-purge function is highly useful and hygienic. I wouldn’t say I like the idea of bacteria or leftover coffee forming molds inside of my machine because I forget or don’t rinse it thoroughly enough.
100% hands-free experience
The level of automation is high with these machines. You would be surprised to know how many super-automatic devices require users to stand by them all the time when they brew so that they can click the button when the machines switch from brewing espresso to frothing milk. Luckily, Jura Z6 and Saeco Xelsis are 100% hands-free.
