Every element we look for in a contemporary appliance is included in the Saeco Xelsis, including superior drink quality, a wide variety of one-touch beverages, and dual brewing of even milk-based recipes. It also provides a choice of 8 user accounts where we may save our recipes without affecting other people’s experiences.
As for the runner-up Saeco Xelsis Evo, it boasts many awesome features, too, like the 6 user profiles, dual milk system, and 8 one-touch recipes. However, despite its obviously convenient and inclusive design, the price and value don’t match up as the device is more expensive than Saeco Xelsis but with less advanced features.

Saeco Xelsis vs Xelsis Evo: Differences
Saeco Xelsis wins 3-0 and ties twice against Saeco Xelsis Evo with its dual Thermoblock heating element, stable grinder with more variable grind settings, and many more one-touch beverages. Saeco Xelsis is the much better pick in this debate.
Espresso extraction
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Saeco Xelsis has a dual Thermoblock as its heating system. Each cup also exhibits the effectiveness and intelligence of the technology. Therefore, my espresso is steamed at around 175–180°F, while my cappuccino or latte macchiato is brewed at about 155°F. As for Saeco Xelsis Evo, the machine uses the dual boiler system, which is slightly less stable and efficient than the dual Thermoblock. But so far, it’s performing quite well.
The devices extract espresso with the same 15-bar pump pressure with full flavor and good crema consistency. In addition, espressos taste very nutty and bold with these devices. So if those are the notes you look forward to enjoying with your next mid-range espresso maker, you can consider this pair.
Another reason that makes Saeco Xelsis the winner is that the device can dual-brew milk-based recipes, while Saeco Xelsis Evo can only make one at a time. So in terms of efficiency, Saeco Xelsis is better than Xelsis Evo.
Milk frother

While Saeco Xelsis uses a milk circuit that connects to a milk source via a long tube, Saeco Xelsis Evo boasts a dual milk system with a milk wand and a carafe. There are pros and cons to both devices.
With Saeco Xelsis Evo, I can switch between the systems. The steam wand allows a manual experience, while the carafe automatically delivers dry foam efficiently. What I don’t like about it is that the carafe takes up too much space, and the device can only brew one cup of milk-based recipe at a time.
As for Saeco Xelsis, it doesn’t have the same diverse dual system as the one above. However, I actually prefer this one. The milk container doesn’t have to be attached to the machine’s frame to function normally. It allows a very free brewing area. And it’s possible to double frothing and dispensing with this system. I can make 2 cups of latte macchiato at the same time!
Grinder

A ceramic grinder is ideal since the material doesn’t transfer heat well, which prevents the beans from being overroasted and the espresso from tasting more burned. Ceramic is also very durable and constantly produces uniform ground without the grinder teeth becoming blunter with time, like stainless steel or other metal grinders do.
Luckily, Saeco Xelsis and Xelsis Evo are equipped with ceramic grinders. So in this regard, they are equally stable and deliver the same ground textures. However, there is a big difference in the number of grind levels. With Saeco Xelsis, I get to choose from the 12 settings for different coarseness. As for Xelsis Evo, it has 8 levels only, fewer than the diversity of texture that I get with the standard Xelsis version.
With that said, 8 levels are still very variable, so I’m not disappointed with the number by any means.
One-touch beverages
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Saeco Xelsis has many more one-touch recipes (15) than the Evo version, which is surprising because I supposed the latter was the updated version of the Xelsis.

Winner: Saeco Xelsis
With more advanced features and lower price, Saeco Xelsis makes a much better deal than Saeco Xelsis Evo. Its dual Thermoblock is a high-quality technology and will always cost more than a single or dual boiler system. Therefore, it’s a big surprise that Saeco Xelsis, the more advanced machine, is much more affordable than the Evo one.
I think Saeco Xelsis Evo is heavily overpriced. It’s possible to get much better machines with many one-touch recipes and convenient features using the same money we would have to spend on its system.
Saeco Xelsis vs Xelsis Evo: Similarities
Some of the similarities that Saeco Xelsis and Xelsis Evo share are:

- Touchscreen: These devices are equipped with TFT and LCD touchscreen displays. They are quite responsive and resemble modern smartphones. Surely users won’t have a hard time navigating the menus.
- Removable brew group: The compartment is removable for recurrent cleaning.
- Stainless steel frame: With this material as the main frame, Saeco Xelsis and Xelsis Evo can withstand certain damages and protect the interior parts.
