Jura Z8 vs Saeco Xelsis seemed almost an impossible debate to solve because of the huge price gap between the 2 machines. However, Saeco Xelsis prevails despite being less expensive.
The Saeco Xelsis is appropriate for practically all tight spaces because of its small form, and filling up is made simple by the front water tank. This appliance makes a great cup of espresso. I constantly receive enticing beverages with great aromas. Furthermore, it makes fantastic microfoam. This is a great purchase for the pricing.
The Jura Z8 is a machine that consistently produces enticing espressos and well-balanced milk-based drinks. However, this machine is less of choice than the one above because of various operating issues and its hefty price tag. In addition, the temperature performance of Z8 is nothing compared to Saeco Xelsis.

Jura Z8 vs Saeco Xelsis: Differences
Saeco Xelsis wins 4-2 against Jura Z8 thanks to its bold espresso flavor, the hot temperature of each cup it brews, and its powerful milk system.
Espresso flavor
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Saeco Xelsis brews stronger espresso than Jura Z8, which comes across as a surprise to me because Jura Z8 is so much more expensive, so I had high expectations for the device’s espresso performance. But Jura Z8 doesn’t brew watered-down and good-for-nothing espresso either. You can get very balanced and nuanced cups with this model. The drinks taste less bold than what Saeco Xelsis has to offer.

Dosing + tamping
Winner: Jura Z8
Saeco Xelsis and Jura Z8 automatically dose and tamp since they are both highly automated equipment. How is the performance, though?
In terms of the brewing process, the Jura Z8 is more effective. Usually, I can complete the transitional actions quickly. This machine utilizes 5 to 16g of coffee dosage for its recipes. After numerous brewing sessions, I can now characterize the flavor as nutty, balanced, and subtle. By changing the coffee’s intensity, I obtain a stronger taste.
When it comes to Xelsis, it takes a while to dose before brewing. Even if it adds a few seconds over Jura Z8, this is one flaw that I actually dislike.
Heating system
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Jura Z8 has two Thermoblocks, whereas Xelsis only has one. But to my astonishment, Saeco Xelsis performs and controls temperatures better.
With Xelsis, my drinks arrive hot and just how I want them, but Jura Z8 produces warm beverages. Espresso doesn’t taste bad when it’s too cold, but I have to gulp it quickly before it entirely cools off and loses its calming effect.
Milk System
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Since the Jura Z8 is focused on producing creamy foam or steamed milk, the milk foam is more varied than it is with Saeco Xelsis. The strength of this model is not microfoam. Therefore, the Jura Z8 is perfect for preparing flat whites or macchiatos. If we push it, it’s also excellent enough for lattes. But I won’t advise Z8 if you enjoy cappuccinos.
Cleaning & Maintain
Winner: Jura Z8
Since the Jura Z8 is made to be cleaned without removing parts, cleaning it has been a simple chore. The device performs the rest of the job; all I have to do is insert a cleaning capsule into the preground slot and begin the whole washing cycle.

Concerning Xelsis, it also features a variety of cleaning cycles that support maintaining a clean system and fresh beverages. However, we should take the dispenser apart so that we may manually clean it. The whole group is in agreement.
Price and value
Winner: Saeco Xelsis
Jura Z8 is a very expensive machine, and it’s only for some groups of users. However, its espresso quality and milk foam are both great. Also, it boasts a decent list of one-touches as well. But the features are not innovative enough for the price. With the same benefits, I can get espresso machines of lower cost and better temperature performance, like Saeco Xelsis, Breville Oracle Touch, or DeLonghi Dinamica Plus.

Super-automatic brewing process
If you aren’t looking for a machine that you have to handle the portafilter manually, a super-automatic machine is what you need. And luckily, this is exactly what Jura Z8 and Saeco Xelsis offer. The entire brewing process is automatic, so you won’t have to touch any single button for it to complete unless you want to adjust any brewing aspect, like volume or temperature, before it starts.
Quick Rundown of Saeco Xelsis
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted. Please refer to user guide or user manual or user guide (provided below in PDF) before first use

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
