Are you torn between the Jura Z8 vs Giga 6? If so, you are in the right place. After testing, I decide the winner is the Giga 6 for good reasons.
Although considered a commercial-grade machine and ideal for office spaces, the Giga 6 will also work well for home use. It is the most versatile and multi-functional machine and is not significantly more expensive than its Z8 counterpart.
The Z8 is well worth the investment, with 21 drinks enough for the taste of most coffee connoisseurs. Its selling point is the affordable price tag, but that’s not all. So keep reading to see more!

Jura Giga 6 Vs Z8: Key Differences
The Giga 6 won against the Z8 with a score of 3-2. Although it is a commercial-grade espresso maker, it still serves home needs well. It is durable, faster, delivers more preset drinks, and is smarter with artificial intelligence. However, the Z8 still has many advantages that make it one of the Jura coffee machines worth owning.
Espresso Flavor

The winner: It Is A Tie!
Drink Presets
When reviewing a coffee machine, I often pay attention to how many coffee specialties it can deliver first.
The Jura Z8 delivers 21 types of beverages, significantly more than many other models in the same price range. But the Giga 6’s menu raises my eyebrows with 28 drinks, which you can hardly find in other models. More options mean more needs can be met, making the Giga 6 ideal for office environments.
Both espresso machines have coffee and espresso options with and without milk. Moreover, they share the same levels of brewing temperature (three levels), milk temperature settings (ten levels), and coffee strength settings (ten levels).
With a long list of preset drinks, you can expect to find something to suit your taste, no matter which espresso machine you choose.
Coffee Grinder
When it comes to the coffee grinders, we have a tie. The only difference is between steel conical and ceramic disc grinders.
The Jura Giga 6 features two grinders made from ceramic material, which is the traditional setup for the coffee grinder. They are prevalent for commercial-grade coffee makers thanks to their ability to withstand intense use.
Meanwhile, home espresso machines typically feature steel conical burr grinders, partly because they are fast and more affordable. These grinders produce faster-grinding speeds without sacrificing what espresso lovers prefer: Rich, aromatic, and well-textured coffee cups.
Generally, combined with PEP (the Pulse Extraction Process), the steel conical grinder can take your espresso experience to the next level without requiring an exorbitant price.
However, if you are willing to pay extra, you won’t go wrong with ceramic disc grinders, which are professional, efficient, and durable. Cleaning it is easy, and it is also perfect for entertaining.
Utilities
The winner: The Jura Giga 6.
Features
One of the things that put the Giga 6 ahead of its counterpart is its artificial intelligence. This machine uses algorithms to suggest your favorite beverages first every time you open the menu. That means it is unnecessary to scroll through plenty of options.
The Z8 is equipped with the Water Tank Illumination feature, highlighting the water level with blue light. That way, seeing the amount of water left is a breeze.
The Water Tank Illumination feature is unique and helpful, but it is not enough to be at the same level as the artificial intelligence of the Giga 6. Hence, do you agree with me that the Giga 6 wins this category?
Capacity
Jura introduced its Giga series as high-capacity machines. Thus, it is no surprise that the Giga 6 won this round. It boasts an 87-ounce water tank and two bean hoppers, each holding up to 9.8 ounces.
The water tank of the Z8 is equivalent to that of Giga 6, approximately 81 oz, which is a huge bonus. Yet, it only features a bean hopper that is roughly 9.8 oz.
So the Giga 6 continues to be the winner. It is ideal for serving many people, and I highly recommend it to those looking for a coffee machine for their company.
Remote Control
The J.O.E (Jura Operating Experience) technology is available on both machines. It allows you to connect these Jura espresso machines with your smartphone to give you remote control of your coffee.
They can connect to available WiFi, and you can use your smartphone’s control panel to control everything, including grind size, coffee strength, milk temperature, and more. Furthermore, it can pair three specialty drinks to your iWatch for convenience.
This technology allows me to control every aspect of my machine without leaving my desk. This obviously is much more fun than standing around a coffee machine.
Cleaning And Maintenance

The winner: The Jura Giga 6.
As mentioned above, the Giga 6 has commercial-grade performance as it is designed to produce dozens of espressos per day. So this unit includes two CLEARYL water filters to keep it clean and tidy and ensure that the internal water pipes are always clog-free and rugged.
On the other hand, the Z8 comes with a CLEARLY water filter, but I believe it is enough for a home espresso machine.
Just because the Giga 6 has two filters doesn’t mean it is cleaner. But if I had to pick a winner, it would be the Giga 6. Two is always better than one, right?
Jura Giga 6 Vs Z8: Main Similarities
Comfort And Design
These machines look stylish and sleek with a convenient touch screen, dual spouts, and a milk frother on the front. It is easy to operate both machines by touching the screen instead of rotating buttons like traditional models. The screen display of the Z8 is slightly larger than that of the Giga 6.
Regarding dimensions, the differences are also insignificant. Specifically, the Jura Z8 is 17.7 inches deep, 15 inches tall, 12.6 inches wide, and weighs 29.5 lbs. On the flip side, the Giga 6 measures 18.9 x 16.3 x 12.6 inches and weighs about 39.7 lbs.
I won’t choose a winner based on these measurements because they don’t matter when I choose an espresso machine.
Dual Coffee Spout
Both have a dual coffee spout, allowing you to make two espressos simultaneously. What’s more, it is adjustable, enabling you to adjust the spout height up to six inches. Thanks to that, it is easy to slide taller cups into this.
Temperature Control
The Giga 6 and the Z8 have dual Thermoblock heating systems, maintaining and regulating an efficient and consistent heating system for milk frothing and brewing. One Thermoblock boiler takes care of the espresso extraction while the other handles the milk frothing mechanism.
That way, all the espresso shots you get are hot, while the textured milk is hotter. Plus, you can control both machines’ brewing and milk temperatures using versatile temperature settings. Their handy touch screens allow you to control the temperature of both coffee and milk more easily than models with standard TFT display screens.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
