After putting both of these machines through their paces, I can confidently say that the Giga W3 is the superior option in the debate of Jura Z8 vs Giga W3. This model is super-automatic and has a lot of handy extra features that make the coffee taste better and make it run more smoothly.
The Giga W3 comes with a 169-ounce water tank that has the capacity to make up to 120 servings every day. You can expect coffee that is complex, yet well-balanced and aromatic. This model also comes equipped with a separate spout for dispensing hot water, and it allows you to select one of three different temperatures. I highly recommend this product line if you are looking for a model for your office.
In comparison, the Jura Z8 comes in second place and has a water tank that is only capable of holding 81 ounces of liquid. This model can also automatically find the CLEARYL Smart water filter. You can also get a balanced taste of coffee by this machine. I recommend this machine to most homeowners.

Jura Z8 vs Giga W3: Differences
The Jura Giga W3 beats the Jura Z8 by a score of 3-1 thanks to its amazing coffee quality, more advanced grinder, more presets coffee drinks and an separate hot water dispenser. However, Z8 is quite a formidable competitor, and it’s also a little cheaper.
1. Coffee Flavor
The Winner: Giga W3

Grinder
Both the Z8 and the Giga W3 utilize a ceramic burr grinder, which is, in my opinion, the most superior kind of grinder on the coffee machine now. However, whereas the Jura Z8 has a consistent conical grinder, the Giga W3 comes with a powerful disc or flat grinder.
If you’re not familiar with grinder terminology, just know that any of these two grinders would be a great pick for a high-end machine. On the other hand, each possesses both strengths and weaknesses.
In my experience as an ex-barista, I find that the disc grinder on the Giga W3, despite the fact that it can be a little noisier than the conical grinder on the Z8, is the best option. Because this kind of grinder is able to provide you with a lot finer and even ground, and because W3 dosages from 5 to 16g, we are able to make great use of the finer ground to extract much more flavorful espresso or coffee. The grinder that comes with the Giga W3 has five distinct settings; generally speaking, the finer the grind, the more strong the flavor.
However, flat burr grinders are known to heat up more quickly than conical burr grinders due to their design. However, this only occurs when you consistently brew a large number of cups of coffee.
I find the Z8’s conical burr grinder to be excellent, but the end product isn’t as uniformly fine as that of the Giga W3. I’m not saying Z8 is ineffective; it’s just not as remarkable as Giga W3. Z8’s grinder has 6 grind size settings.
Dosing + tamping
The dosing and tamping processes of Z8 and Giga W3 are almost identical. Both have the same coffee dose amount, ranging from 5 to 16g. I really wish that they made the range a little bit wider so that those who enjoy coffee can choose between mellow and strong coffee anytime they want. But by adjusting the coffee’s strength and having the choice to ground the beans to various sizes, I was able to brew some aromatically pleasing cups of coffee.
Because these machines are super-automatic, you won’t need to tamp or dose manually. I checked the pucks once the brewing process was complete to see if the Giga W3 and Z8 did a decent job at tamping and pulling, and just as I had expected, they performed an outstanding job.
Heating system
These machines use 2 Thermo blocks. As a result, I always get the optimum temperature for my drinks. These espresso makers heat quickly too.
The differences is: The Thermoblocks that come with the Giga W3 are supported by a water tank that is significantly larger and can hold up to 169 ounces of water. On the other hand, Z8 is used for 82 ounces. Based on the size of the water tank, I believe that the Giga W3 is best suited for use in workplaces or conferences that demand a large number of servings in a relatively short amount of time. But you could choose it for your home if you hate having to fill up the water tank often.
Brewing technique
The Z8 uses a technology known as the Pulse Extraction Process when brew espresso. This process includes wetting the coffee grounds with water in short bursts that are extremely powerful and quick in order to extract the coffee at its optimal condition.
Surprisingly, Giga W3 does not come packaged with any unique or specialized technologies. In point of fact, though, I have never had any issues with the flavor of the coffee produced by this one. It is clear to me from looking at the used pucks that the Giga W3 does an excellent job of ensuring an even extraction.
2. Utilities
The Winner: Giga W3
Preset Coffee Drinks

While Giga W3 offers 43 different beverages, Z8 only provides 21. However, their diversity is overwhelming. With W3, we have access to more unique coffees, such as Winter Magic Coffee, Viennese Coffee, and Red Cold, amongst others. Z8 provides us with basic drinks like Barista, Americano, Flat White, and more.
Therefore, the Z8 is an excellent choice to consider if you like a less complicated machine that offers a wide variety of beverage choices. On the other hand, the Giga W3 is the superior option if what you’re looking for is a highly automated device that can produce any beverage you can think of.
Used pucks container
While the used pucks container on the Z8 can only keep up to 20 servings, the one on the Giga W3 can hold up to 40. If you are seeking for a machine that is suitable for a small workplace, the Giga W3 is, without a doubt, the superior choice. However, if you are searching for a machine that you can use at home, the container for used pucks does not need to be that large.
And if you drink five to eight cups of coffee every day, the 40-serving container and the 20-serving container won’t be much different from one another. So pick one that fits the number of servings per day you want.
Separate hot water spout
We have a separate spout for hot water with the Giga W3. It really satisfy me, as I am a regular tea drinker myself. In addition, the temperature can be adjusted to 3 levels, allowing me to choose the level of warmth to suit either green or black tea.
Here is my recommendation for you to consider if you are looking to make good pour-over coffee. I attempted to produce pour-over coffee at the right temp, which is approximately 200 degrees Fahrenheit, but the flow consistency was not steady enough for pour-over action. As a result, the final flavor is not as well balanced as I had hoped it would be.
3. Milk system
The Winner: It’s a Tie!

The milk system in the Giga W3 has a dial that lets us control how much air is drawn in, which allows us to froth foam that is either more moist or drier, depending on our preferences. As a result of my testing with both the W3 and the Z8, I can say that both of them are very stable when it comes to the process of milk frothing, and the temperature of the foam or steamed milk is hot.
4. Cleaning & Maintain
The Winner: It’s a Tie!
The cleaning process for either of these devices is quite simple. The first thing you’ll notice is that the brew group isn’t removable, which is usually necessary for a thorough cleaning. But here’s the catch: the Giga W3 and Z8 both come with a unique tablet that, when inserted into the foreground coffee slot, forces the machines to automatically clean the coffee route and the brew group, meaning that you won’t have to do it yourself.
Besides, when you turn off Z8 and Giga W3, the nozzles will automatically flush hot water through it to clean anything that may have become lodged in the dispenser.
Cleaning the milk path will take a little more time because these espresso makers use a separate carafe or milk container and froth the milk by sucking it up through a silicone tube in the milk system. So to thoroughly clean it, we use a cleaning solution that was made by Jura and begin the process of cleaning the milk. After that, the machine will handle the remaining steps.
Overall, I don’t think it’s too hard or time-consuming to clean these models. Maintaining them is a breeze.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
