When comparing the Jura Giga 5 vs Giga 6, the latter option won convincingly. It’s a great example of “You get what you pay for.”
The Giga 6 convinced me never to stop in a cafe shop again. It is a high-caliber superautomatic that can do it all and give you various drinks with customization. But beware—it is costly, so not everyone can afford it. As a result, it is ideal for office settings and large households.
The Giga 5 is not as feature-rich and modern as its successor, but it’s still packed with great features that aren’t available in other models in the same price range. So there is no denying that it is the best bang for the buck of the Jura Giga series.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Keep reading for more information!

Giga 5 vs. Giga 6: Main Differences
In this head-to-head battle, the Giga 6 is the overall winner (4-1). It has more programmability, features a touchscreen, comes with built-in Artificial Intelligence, and more. That’s also why it’s significantly more expensive than its competitor. The Giga 6, no doubt, is in contention with the top-tier espresso machines on the market. Regarding the milk system, espresso intensity, cleaning, and others, both are mostly the same.
Espresso Taste

The Winner: The Giga 6.
The Grinder
These two machines feature dual ceramic disc grinders, which can double the volume of coffee in seconds in lieu of minutes. These ceramic grinders will not overheat as well as wear out as quickly as other grinders.
What’s more, their grinding speed is much more stable as the blades won’t lose their sharpness quickly. These grinders are definitely the best for powerful machines like the Jura Giga 6.
Thermoblocks
In addition to dual coffee grinders, these machines are packaged with dual Thermoblocks, allowing brewing espresso and frozen milk simultaneously.
The dual Thermoblock is also helpful in maintaining high temperatures but separate in brewing espresso as well as frothing the milk. So you can expect little or no waiting time between mugs. Plus, the Rapid Brew technology will ensure two drinks are made in no time, consistently, and perfectly.
Built-in Artificial Intelligence
This Swiss brand has put its best engineering to the test to create the most advanced superautomatic that is the first to incorporate artificial.
Gone are the days when you had to go to an espresso expert to get delicious espresso cups depending on your personal tastes. At the present age, many modern coffee machines, including the Giga 6, can do the trick.
Its built-in Artificial Intelligence will curate a distinct espresso palette for you. It will take fine-tuning your drinks to the next level.
What I like most is that AI technology can adjust the functionality of espresso to suit my brewing tastes. It can also re-organize my coffee menu based on the coffee specialties you have prepared in the past.
In other words, it knows what I prefer and shows me more of that. This means less time spent figuring out the different customizations of coffee.
It is impressive, right? So if you want to enjoy the AI level of coffee making, the Giga 6 is the one to get.
Dose Control
The Winner: The Giga 6.
Coffee Programmability
When talking about programmability levels, the Giga 6 clearly is the winner with ten levels of brewing strength and ten milk temperature settings.
On the flip side, The Giga 5 only has five brewing strength levels, while its milk temperature settings are not specified. According to the manufacturer, this model has several milk texture settings, and I’ll probably need more time to explore them.
Coffee Drinks
The Giga 6 also delivers more types of drinks (28 coffee specialties), making it ideal for espresso lovers preferring versatility. I’m a guy who is keen on experimenting with different flavors and combinations, so the long list of drinks of the Giga 6 strongly impressed me.
The Giga 5 is also formidable, with 19 good drinks. Even if this is less than its successor, you should know that many of Jura’s models offer fewer coffee specialties than that.
Utilities

The Winner: The Giga 6.
Control Panel
Jura has included a convenient touchscreen for its modern products, such as the Giga 6. Meanwhile, the Giga 5 is equipped with a TFT (Thin Film Transistor) screen with buttons.
The touchscreen is bright, wide, and looks very sleek and modern, enabling you to perform all customizations easily as a breeze. Apart from simplifying the entire personalization process, it also helps you know what’s going on with your machine regarding cleaning and maintenance.
An easy-to-use TFT display or a convenient touchscreen? The choice is yours! But I lean towards the touchscreen because it looks modern, elegant, and extremely convenient.
Other Features and Accessories
Both machines have two spouts for hot water, coffee, or milk. Plus, they are all height-adjustable. They also have a splash guard and a light for added convenience.
Both units 6 also feature dual bean hoppers and grinders with dual spouts, meaning they can help make delicious blends from two kinds of beans.
Of course, the Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System and Pulse Extraction Process technology, the unique features of all Jura machines, are also included. So it is unnecessary to worry about these machines’ aroma preservation and extraction time.
You can also connect these espresso machines to your smartphone/tablet via the JOE app to fully operate them from anywhere in your home. That is great because you don’t have to waste time standing next to your coffee machine.
Design & Convenience
The winner: It is a tie.
The Giga 5 has a dimension of 20 x 17 x13 inches with a weight of 40 lbs, while the Jura Giga 6 measures 18.9 x 16.3 x 12.6 inches and weighs 39.7 pounds.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Yes, they are bulky and heavy compared to a home espresso maker. But it shouldn’t be a problem because nobody seems to move their coffee machine frequently, right? In most cases, these coffee machines will be fixed in a proper place. They have an eye-catching appearance, making them a great addition to any kitchen.
Apart from the measurements, Giga 5 and Giga 6 have similar designs. For instance, I found dual spouts and a decent color display on the front of both. They also have similarities in the color of aluminum and silver.
So, in this category, we have a tie.
Giga 5 vs. Giga 6: Similarities
Capacity
The Jure Giga series is famous for its high-capacity Giga coffee makers, and, of course, Giga 5 and 6 are no exception. They share an 87-ounce water tank and two bean hoppers, each with a capacity of 9.8 ounces.
They can provide dozens of cups of espresso per day without any problem. So, these machines are ideal for large families or office settings. But if you have limited kitchen counter space, you might have trouble finding a spot for them.
Milk System
Both models have a siphon milk system that is effective and fast and can produce excellent frothed milk you can get from bean-to-cup machines.
Customizing the milk foam level on your chosen drink is a breeze. It is just a One-Touch solution, allowing you to make complicated drinks, such as a cortado or latte macchiato, with little or no effort.
Temperature Settings
In matters of brewing espresso, both have three temperature settings, from low to normal to very hot. That way, it is easy to customize the temperature for every espresso drink generated from these machines.
With a big screen on both machines, controlling espresso temperature has never been so easy. It is okay to control these intricate customizations through your phone/tablet, provided you have downloaded the J.O.E app.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
