Within the Jura coffee machine line, not everything is the same. To help you decide between the Jura E8 vs ENA Micro 90, two machines with seemingly different features, I’ve compared them to highlight their respective strengths, weaknesses, and whether or not they’d be a good fit for your needs. In a situation where I can only pick one winner, I will go with Jura E8.
You can’t go wrong with the Jura E8 as it has more premium features to consistently brew delicious, nuanced espresso drinks. It offers more preset coffee drinks, higher level of programmability to ensure you can get the drink that suits your taste. In addition, cleaning and maintenance are a breeze.
As a runner-up, Jura ENA Micro 90 is more entry-level than the E8. It is something to take into consideration for individuals on a tighter budget who are seeking a reliable, automated model that has a number of cutting-edge and user-friendly features.

Jura E8 vs ENA Micro 90: Differences
The Jura E8 wins 5-1 over the Jura ENA Micro 90 because it is more modern, has more advanced features, and is better for all your daily espresso needs. The E8 is the machine to get if you want fully automatic performance that is still user-friendly, with more coffee drink options and more adjustable settings.
1. Coffee Flavor & Brewing Technologies
The Winner: Jura E8

In terms of how it makes espresso and how many ways it can make espresso, the Jura E8 outperforms the Jura ENA Micro 90. But considering that the Jura ENA Micro 90 is a more entry-level espresso machine, the Jura E8 is more modern and advanced with more premium-grade features. This improves its ability to produce delicious espresso consistently.
To begin, Jura E8 brews a nuanced flavor of espresso no matter what espresso roasts you use. You can experiment with various coffee bean blends by purchasing them and using them with different drinks. Because the E8 provides many coffee specialties. The ENA Micro 90, on the other hand, works best with medium-roasted coffee and specialty espresso roasts. I tried using dark oily beans and then it gunk up my ENA Micro 90. Therefore, the opportunity for experimenting is limited in the ENA Micro 90.
Despite this, the flavor of the espresso produced by either the Jura E8 or the ENA Micro 90 is still genuine and of barista quality. But the Jura E8 is the better choice when it comes to taste, texture, and aroma.
This is also because the E8 has intelligent pre-heating, which improves the quality of every shot of espresso. The ENA Micro 90 is not equipped with this feature.
2. Dose Control
The Winner: Jura E8
Brewing Size
In this way, the Jura E8 has much to offer its users regarding programmability and dose control. With this machine, you can make two espresso shots simultaneously during a single brewing cycle. In the same amount of time it takes the ENA Micro 90 to brew a single cup of espresso, the E8 can easily produce two cups’ worth of espresso. The reason is that the ENA Micro 90 only has one single spout, while the E8 has two spouts.
I don’t think a person who lives alone would have a problem with the ENA Micro 90’s single-serve feature. However, the E8’s increased brewing capacity, which is twice as much as the ENA Micro 90’s, is indeed an advantageous feature.
Programmability And Coffee Drinks
Moving on, compared to the ENA Micro 90, the Jura E8 has a greater number of programmable features. This features the One-Touch Lungo function and other programmable levels to choose from.
The preset coffee drinks offered on the E8’s menu are significantly more diverse than the ENA Micro 90. The ENA Micro 90 provides a selection of basic drinks, including coffee, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and espresso, all of which are also available on the coffee menu for the Jura E8. Caffe Barista, Lungo Barista, Espresso Doppio, Macchiato, Cortado, and Flat White are beverages the ENA Micro 90 does not offer, while the E8 provides all of these beverages.
The E8 also allows you to double the volume of any coffee on the machine. On the ENA Micro 90, this double-shot brewing feature is unavailable.

Both machines have 10 levels of adjusting coffee volume. While the ENA 90 only has 2 different temperature settings, the E8 has 3 different levels.
3. Milk System
The Winner: It’s A Tie!
The programmed milk foam feature significantly differs significantly between the Jura E8 and the ENA Micro 90, which is why the former product is superior to the latter. The Jura E8 has a Fine Foam G2 Frother, and the ENA Micro 90 has an automatic frother. The Fine Foam G2 has various milk adjustments that you can play around with. This adjusts how thick and smooth the milk foam is in every creamy espresso drink you make.
However, if you want barista-quality cappuccino and lattes, either of these espresso makers is a good choice.
4. Cleaning & Maintenance
The Winner: Jura E8
The Jura E8 comes equipped with automatic cleaning modes and indicators. The maintenance display status is shown on the modern TFT display so you can keep track of the machine.
But even by itself, the E8 is equipped with a one-touch automatic milk system cleaning feature and a monitored drip tray and is TUV-certified for both its cleanliness and its effectiveness.

Because of the Intelligent Water System, the Claris filter cartridge, and the integrated rinsing programs, it won’t be necessary for you to descaling for quite some time. The machine will inform you when it’s time to do so.
Besides the indicator for the drip tray, the Jura ENA Micro 90 is not as user-friendly regarding cleaning and maintenance. Rinsing the machine after each usage is required to keep it in good condition. You are responsible for setting up the rinsing system for the milk frother, which includes connecting the hose. You need to clean the pipe connected to the milk container every day.
Therefore, taking care of the ENA Micro 90 requires a significant time investment and a lot of effort. On the other hand, the rinsing, de-clogging, and descaling processes of the Jura E8 are more simplified and automated. The screen will prompt you to rinse. Just push it, and water rinses the frothing section.
Capacity
The Jura E8’s bean hopper and water tank have a larger capacity than its counterpart. It has a capacity of 1.8 liters and 9.8 ounces, respectively. The Jura ENA Micro 90 has a water tank that can hold 1 liter and a bean hopper that can hold 4.4 ounces.
The larger the capacity of the bean hopper and water tank, the less frequently they will need to be refilled. That’s why I go for Jura E8.
5. Utilities
The Winner: Jura E8
Interface

The interface of the Jura E8 is a TFT display, and of the Jura ENA Micro 90 is the Plain Text display and a rotary switch. In terms of aesthetics, each person has their own preferences. Although it may seem trivial, the user interface does affect the brewing experience. I will be honest with you about my experience with the two of them.
The Jura E8’s interface is more modern, streamlined, and intuitive. It looks great and works just as well as it should. And furthermore, with the Jura E8, you can use the Smart Connect app to control all of your coffee settings wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet. So, in this way, you have two different interfaces: the control panel on the espresso machine and the Jura app.
Both of these user interfaces are straightforward and easy to understand. But in comparison to the ENA Micro 90, the Jura E8 will be a lot easier to use for first-time users.
Aroma Preservation Cover
The Aroma Preservation Cover works like a charm on a bean hopper to protect the coffee beans from losing their aroma. However, this does not imply that the bean container lid of the Jura ENA Micro 90 is not adequately sealed. However, the Aroma Preservation Cover does keep the beans fresher for a longer period of time.
In fact, it is really difficult for me to confirm whether or not this is true. But if the company has invented a new lid with such technology, it will surely work partly.
Jura E8 vs ENA Micro 90: Similarities
Despite their differences, both of Jura’s espresso makers are remarkable in terms of quality, steadiness, and durability. And the thrill you experience from each one of them, in proportional measure, is precisely the same as the other!
What similarities may the Jura ENA Micro 90 have with the Jura E8?
Both Jura E8 and Jura ENA Micro 90 feature a 15-bar pump pressure, an Aroma grinder, a Thermoblock heating system, and a Pulse Extraction Process. These machines have the same programmable coffee strength settings, ranging from 1 to 10 levels of strength. While both models allow you to customize the amount of water used for each cup of coffee and the temperature at which it is brewed, there is little difference (in terms of how much) between the two models.
Both machines have a hot water dispenser, a bypass doser for pre-ground coffee, a removable drip tray, and cleaning indicator. They use less energy by running on low-energy modes, and a smart heating system keeps the machine from overheating or overloading.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
