Jura A1 vs Ena Micro 1, the ultimate battle of simplistic espresso machines, is here! Minimalism is very in these years, so it’s no surprise that Jura took a chance with a new line that includes espresso makers that are straightforward to operate and sleek-looking. And after comparing 2 of the most famous designs of the line, Jura A1 is the winning product.

Jura A1 is a sleek and modern machine with a classic set of one-touch beverages, including espresso, ristretto, and coffee. Its powerful AromaG3 grinder can deliver fine coffee ground while producing very low sound at high speed. If you want an energy-saving model with balanced espresso extraction, Jura A1 is the one for you.

As for Ena Micro 1, this machine boasts a more compact footprint and lightweight design than Jura A1. The espresso performance on this one is the same as the previous one. However, its grinder’s performance is not the best I have seen in a while. I will comment further on how it bothers me below!

Jura A1 vs Ena Micro 1: Differences

Jura A1 wins 2-1 and ties once against Ena Micro 1. Its external design is almost exactly the same, but its grinder performance excels so greatly that Ena Micro 1 can’t dominate the round. Nevertheless, Ena Micro 1 has higher ground regarding bean hopper capacity or compact footprint.

Espresso- flavor

It’s a tie!

Both Jura A1 and Ena Micro 1 are good at delivering balanced cups of coffee. If you imagine sitting in your living room chilling on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee in your hand, these machines’ beverage quality will highlight the experience. All the flavor notes are perfect, but the espresso isn’t too bold that it’s hard to drink. So if you enjoy smooth coffee, you will fall in love with them.

Grinder’s performance

Winner: Jura A1

Jura A1 boasts an Aroma G3 grinder, a relatively new technology of Jura. Simply put it, the Aroma G3 is a ceramic conical burr grinder that is designed to “preserve the aroma” of the beans while delivering an even ground result in a matter of seconds. I have personally tested it, and I’m totally impressed by its actual performance. Jura A1 is very quick on its feet when grinding beans. It takes less than 2 seconds for it to finish a batch of espresso.

As for Jura Ena Micro 1, I’m not entirely convinced by its grinder. Firstly, the ground isn’t always even. And secondly, the grinder takes longer and produces more noise when doing its job.

Performance And Convenience

Winner: Jura Ena Micro 1

Both the Ena Micro 1 and the Jura A1 are intended for small-scale usage. It works well for compact homes with little room. Therefore, the bean hopper and water reservoir on the Jura A1 are smaller. It frees up counter space. In addition, it boasts a CLEARYL blue filter that effortlessly produces quality coffee.

The Jura Ena Micro 1 appears to tackle brewing in a more practical and environmentally beneficial manner. It can quickly grind, tamp, and brew your beans. With Ena Micro 1, you won’t have to replenish your supply of coffee beans continuously. The bigger bean hopper on the Jura Ena Micro 1 makes it more practical.

Cleaning And Maintenance

Winner: Jura A1

After analyzing their characteristics, I concluded that the Jura A1 was superior to the Ena Micro 1. Both the Ena Micro 1 and the Jura A1 include self-cleaning, self-rinsing, and descaling capabilities. In addition, the Ena Micro 1 produces less trash, making it more environmentally friendly.

The coffee strength option is available in both models. However, the A1 can change the water hardness and includes a calc-clean feature. Having said that, I believe the Ena Micro 1 makes the coffee taste better because it has two degrees of scent.

Jura A1 vs Ena Micro 1: Similarities

I think some similarities between Jura A1 and Ena Micro 1 are worth highlighting.

Exterior design

I find no difference in the exterior design of these machines. They belong to a very minimalistic product line of Jura, and the placement of all the parts, from the water tank to the distributary mouth, is exactly the same. Even the design of the dispenser is the same. At first, I found it a bit tricky to find the differences between these 2 machines due to such immense similarity in exterior design.

Water tank size

Both devices are equipped with a 37 oz water tank. And from the first impression, it’s clearly not an impressive reservoir capacity. But I think there is a use for every machine, even though it doesn’t boast the biggest tank size. With Jura A1 and Ena Micro 1, single users or couples can make the most out of this machine while still enjoying a comfortable home-barista experience.

No milk system

If you are wondering if the machines are as simple as they look and lack a milk system, it’s true. Jura didn’t design these product lines with a milk system. So it’s inevitable that users invest a bit in an external milk frother. You can try the Aeroccinos. They are quite affordable models that do a great job at delivering steamed milk and milk foam, depending on your chosen line.
