Between the Giga 5 vs Z6, it is not difficult to decide that the former model is the winner.
Giga 5 features two bean hoppers, dual grinders, and a large water tank. What’s more, it offers up to 19 coffee specialties, making you feel like a professional barista in your home. It is expensive and imperfect, but I believe it is hard to beat.
Jura Z6 is also a high-end, programmable machine that will make your friends jealous. It is no exaggeration to say that the Z6 is one of the easiest to use and smartest machines available out there.

Giga 5 Vs Z6: Key Differences
The Giga 5 wins against the Z6 (4–3) as it has a better grinder, larger capacity, and more espresso drinks to offer. But Z6 has more coffee strength settings and coffee personalization, which does not exist in the Giga 5.
ESPRESSO FLAVOR
The Winner: Giga 5.
Coffee Grinder
Here is a confrontation between a steel conical burr grinder and a ceramic disc grinder. More specifically, the Jura Giga 5 comes with a dual ceramic disc grinder, while its Z6 counterpart has the Aroma G3 grinder (or steel conical burr grinder).
Ceramic grinders typically do not heat up, even when used continuously. That means it will not burn off the beans’ natural oils, even if it is used to grind continuously for a long time. Equipping this type of grinder with a high-capacity machine like the Giga 5 is essential.
The steel conical burr grinder, on the other hand, will heat up after a while. For this reason, it may lead to a relatively warmer. Many espresso purists, including me, don’t like this. That’s why I prefer the dual ceramic disc grinder of the Giga 5.
MILK SYSTEM

The Winner: Draw.
Both machines have great milk-frothing systems.
The Giga 5 features a milk spout that is easy to clean and maintain. It also has dual spouts with a separate milk spout to produce creamy milk for lattes, flat whites, cappuccinos, and more.
It is also quick and easy to adjust the amount of milk foam you want based on your chosen drink. Cleaning the milk system to keep it clean is a breeze as well.
The Z6 is equipped with an automatic milk siphon system and a milk pipe connecting to the machine. It gives you control over the temperature of the milk and the milk foam.
The Jura Z6 has more programmable functions, making it the better choice for milk frothing. On the downside, cleaning the milk pipe will take time and effort since it isn’t dishwasher-safe.
DOSE CONTROL
The Winner: Draw.
Preset Drinks
The Giga 5 has 19 pre-programmed coffee drinks, whereas the menu of the Jura Z6 includes 13 drinks. More beverage options allow the Giga 5 to accommodate a wider range of tastes, making it ideal for big families, self-service bars, or office settings.
Coffee Programmability
The Z6 has the edge over its opponent in this category as it offers more control over its drinks. Although it delivers fewer coffee specialties, it gives you more programmability levels.
The Z6 has ten coffee strength settings, while the Giga 5 has five levels. Regarding the brewing temperature settings, both have three levels.
When it comes to milk programmability, the Jura Z6 offers ten temperature levels, whereas the Giga 5 isn’t mentioned. Both have a hot water dispenser, but the Z6 comes with three temperature settings for hot water that isn’t available on the Giga 5.
You can program the serving size on these two machines and brew two cups of espresso simultaneously, which is ideal for two people enjoying the same drink.
Coffee Personalization
The Z6 features coffee personalization, affording you to save your favorite beverage at the touch of a button. Sadly, the Giga 5 doesn’t provide users with this feature. So you must choose from its menu which espresso drink you want to brew.
SIZE AND AESTHETIC
The winner: It is a tie.
Design
The Giga 5 is a monster that measures 20 x 17 x 13 inches and weighs 40 pounds. That means this machine is not designed for families with limited countertop space or narrow space between their cabinets and counters.
On the flip side, the Z6 is significantly more compact, measuring 17.7 x 12.6 x 14.8 inches and weighing about 25.4 lbs. That said, it would be more suitable for home use.
Aesthetic
Giga 5 has a vaguely industrial appearance, like coffee machines commonly found at coffee shops. Of course, it isn’t an industrial grade, but it comes close with its rugged, all-business look. Just by looking at it, you’ll know that this machine can take almost anything you can dish out.
The Giga 5 is certainly attractive, but its industrial appearance may not work well for every home kitchen. So if your kitchen décor is playful and fun, it may look a bit out of place.
The looks of the Z6 are also formidable. It has won various design awards and is a classy showcase of Swiss innovation. What I like the most about its design is the sleek aluminum casing, but you can opt for the all-black option. Either way, the Z6 will look incredible in any kitchen!
CAPACITY

Winner: Giga 5.
Although the Giga 5 has smaller housing, its capacity is higher than the Jura Z6. Specifically, it comes packaged with a 91-ounce water reservoir and two large bean hoppers, holding up to 277 grams of beans each. Each ceramic grinder is allocated with a bean hopper, meaning you have dual grinding performance rather than just one.
The Jura Z6 works a bit differently, with an 81-ounce water reservoir, a single 280g bean hopper, and a single grinder.
These two machines have the same coffee container, providing 20 coffee servings. Additionally, they share a pre-ground coffee chute for decaf coffee.
Giga 5 Vs Z6: Similarities
Control Panel
As a fan of touch screens, I’m a bit disappointed as these machines only have a TFT color display with some buttons.
But to be fair, their screens are decent, with well-arranged buttons. So using these screens is as easy as using ATMs.
Dual Coffee Spout
Many modern models, including the Giga 5 and Z6, are equipped with dual coffee spouts allowing them to brew two espressos in a single brewing cycle.
Imagine how convenient it would be if you and a second person preferred the same drink. This will save you and he/she precious time. If you want to brew a single mug of espresso, these two nozzles can work together to get the job done.
Adjustable Cup Height
It is easy to adjust the height of the cup clearance to fit your cup/mug. The Z6 allows you to adjust from 3.2 to 6 inches, whereas the Giga 5 is from 2,7 to 6,2 inches.
Wireless Control
Both the Giga 5 vs Z6 are equipped with Smart Connect, which means they can be connected to a smartphone/tablet via the JOE app. That way, you can access your coffee machine’s functions without standing around it.
It also notifies you about the current status. For example, it will tell you when you must top up coffee beans or water.
Cleaning And Maintenance
Both Giga 5 vs Z6 have water filters that are responsible for minimizing minerals and heavy metals in the water. In addition to making the machine last longer, it also ensures that the taste of espresso is never metallic or too bitter, even after months of use.
They also come with several cleaning indicators, alerting you when you must descale/rinse your machine. They have a removable drip tray that can be removed easily to empty out the excess water.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
