Picking the winner of Gaggia Babila vs Cadorna Prestige has been a tough call for me because both machines have various aspects that excel compared to the other. But after weighing all the features and the espresso flavor performance, I have decided to go with Babila, the final winner.
The winner Gaggia Babila might not have such a modern display as Cadorna Prestige. But it boasts more variable grinder settings and a more diverse milk system that allows users to froth foam manually or hands-free. As for its espresso flavor, I’m impressed by how bold and velvety it is. I highly suggest this model!
As for Cadorna Prestige, this machine boasts a more diverse one-touch system with 14 drinks at your fingertip. It also is equipped with a colored display for a visually pleasing brewing experience. However, some of its features offer fewer flexible options than Babila, like the milk system and the grinder.

Gaggia Babila vs Cadorna Prestige: Differences
Gaggia Babila wins 3-2 against Gaggia Cadorna Prestige. Both machines perform really well in terms of espresso extraction. But Babila offers more control over the milk texture with its dual milk system that includes both a steam wand and a carafe. Let’s get into the details.
Espresso extraction
Winner: Gaggia Babila
Gaggia Babila is equipped with a dual boiler system that dedicates separately to espresso extraction and milk frothing. It also employs a 15-bar pump pressure system to pull delicious espresso. Thanks to all these advanced technologies, I have been able to pull very rich shots with hot temperatures, something very important in the world of coffee.

As for Cadorna Prestige, the machine also uses 15-bar pressure to extract espresso, but it only comes with a single boiler with fast heating. So it doesn’t take long for the device to prepare for brewing. However, between milk frothing and brewing sessions, users may notice a temperature fluctuation, making it harder to control the consistency of the final heat of each beverage. However, so far, I haven’t experienced a bad shot with the device yet.
Grinder
Winner: Gaggia Babila
A grind size adjustment dial is located under the lid of the Gaggia Babila, making the bean hopper simple to reach. It has 15 unique grind settings, ranging from fine to coarse.
Under cover of the Gaggia Babila is the bean hopper, which has a dial for changing the grind size. There are fine, medium, and coarse grind settings among the 15 available. Baba’s grinding mechanism is smooth and effective when compared to other ones. The coffee is perfectly ground and brewed using this technique.
The Cadorna Prestige, in comparison, only has 10. This implies that your options for the ground level will be more limited compared to Babila but not lacking in all cases. I suggest choosing any machine with more than 6-7 grind settings. So both models fall into the good side of the coffee ground texture’s diversity.

One-touch brewing selections
Winner: Gaggia Cadorna Prestige
The Gaggia Babila boasts one-touch brewing and eight preset drink options. You can easily make espresso, ristretto, macchiato, latte, flat white, and a combination of these drinks. The machine prepares the espresso and milk once you select the drink choice.
In addition to the basic selections, you may customize the coffee’s temperature, strength, and quantity to suit your tastes. You may save this preset and use it the next time you require quick barista adjustments.
On the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige, there are 14 pre-programmed choices available, not 8. As a result, you can select a good variety of beverages without manually adjusting anything, including hot chocolate, black coffee, chai tea, and various flavored drinks. For a better diversity of one-touch elements, I recommend Cadorna Prestige.
Milk system
Winner: Gaggia Babila
As for the milk system, both machines perform equally well, but Babila excels because it’s equipped with a dual system. Users can find a milk frother on each side of the machine for a hands-free milk frothing experience, or they can opt for the steam wand on the other side of the machine. The choice is yours to make. As for Cadorna, it offers a single milk system with an automatic carafe.
I’m impressed with what both machines offer regarding the milk texture. They can froth microfoam beautifully for cappuccino or latte macchiato. And they know how to dispense with creating the right layers of ingredients as well. Personally, I like how they make latte macchiato the most. The separation of milk foam, espresso, and milk is gorgeous.

Interface
Winner: Gaggia Cadorna Prestige
Gaggia Cadorna Prestige boasts a prettier display with a colored screen where users can visualize how the final drinks will look like. Press the buttons that link to the screen, each represents a separate drink, and the machine will handle the rest.
As for Babila, it has a traditional pixel display with buttons. So the look is much less modern compared to Cadorna Prestige. Still, it serves its purpose.
Gaggia Babila vs Cadorna Prestige: Similarities
Check out these similarities between Gaggia Babila and Cadorna Prestige that I think will concern your future experience with the machines.
Water tank capacity and ideal groups of consumers
Both models are equipped with a 50.7 oz water reservoir. This tank size definitely isn’t the most impressive, but it’s enough to serve a group of a maximum of 3 users daily without major difficulty. It will require more frequent refilling if you brew more than once per day (for each user). But in general, I don’t find it inconvenient at all.
Keep in mind also the position of the water tank, because it will concern your daily experience and the position where you put the machines. Babila has a top-loaded tank, which means you have to pull it upward to remove it for cleaning or descaling. As for Cadorna Prestige, the tank is frontal-pull, so that you won’t need extra space on top of the device.
Indicators of real-time conditions of the machines
It’s hard to keep up with the condition of an espresso machine if we don’t have any specific indicators to follow and understand it. Luckily, both Cadorna Prestige and Babila have a good set of indicators. You can count on alerts for: full drip tray, empty bean hopper, full dreg drawer, descaling time, cleaning time, etc.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
