No matter the level of expertise, every coffee enthusiast wants to own either the Barista Express Vs Oracle Touch. Comparing these two machines, I believe both rank highly for their automatic and precise functionality.
However, the Barista Express is the best option for ease of use and affordability. Despite its limitations, the Breville Oracle Touch is still my favourite since it includes more features than the rest.
If you’re the sort of person who has some experience in operating espresso machines, then the Barista Express is the ultimate choice. With an adjustable grinder, precise temperature controls, and a smooth espresso extraction, this espresso machine makes coffee in an instant at an amazingly low cost.
While the Oracle Touch is a fully automatic coffee maker, the Barista Express is semi-automatic. For beginners, this is the perfect machine. It is an excellent option for users who enjoy delicious espresso without modifying the settings. You can choose from various pre-programmed drinks and customise the espresso strength settings.

Breville Oracle Touch vs Barista Express: Differences
The Breville Oracle Touch, the Barista Express, won with a 3 – 3 score in this battle of wits.
The second option costs less and allows for complete control of the brewing process. An Oracle Touch at a premium price and with no hassle is a dream come true for avid coffee drinkers!
1. ESPRESSO QUALITY
The Winner: Breville Oracle Touch
With the Oracle Touch, you simply cannot go wrong. Compared to the Barista Express, it brews espresso better. It is designed with a touchscreen display and features 5 pre-programmed coffee drinks and a faster, quieter grinder.
Oracle Touch incorporates both an espresso and steam boiler to maintain optimal temperature. You won’t lose temperature between cups with a digital PID with thermal stability.
Additionally, you can save up to 8 different customised drinks after you’ve set the grind, temperature, and milk temperature and texture variables. Compared to the Barista Express, it makes espresso taste more prosperous, more intense, and bolder. The best part? You don’t have to be a coffee geek to do it.
The Barista Express comes with a pressure gauge, the grind size dial, the program button, and two single and double espresso shots. Although it is fast, it’s not as precise as the Oracle Touch when it comes to making espresso cream and milk cream textures.
Unlike the Oracle Touch, the Barista Express only has one Thermocoil, not two like the Oracle Touch. The former may appear lightweight, but it’s not as precise and performance-driven as the Oracle Touch and may be burdened with numerous limitations.
2. DOSE CONTROL
The Winner: It’s A Tie!
For a full-bodied taste and a rich and full-bodied aroma, the Oracle Touch automatically grinds coffee beans to 22 grams and grinds them automatically. A tamper-resistant lock and a complex locking system keep things tidy and efficient. As soon as you pull the shot, placing your milk jug on the drip tray or tilting it sideways will help give your milk a better texture. However, the latter is a little more complicated.
This coffee maker is an excellent value with its all-in-one capabilities, precise espresso extraction, and customisable home screens. These features contribute to this coffee maker’s premium appearance. On the other hand, if you prefer a more hands-on experience, the Barista Express is the way to go.
This espresso machine is fully automatic and renowned for its ease of operation and comfort. The Barista Express does everything from grinding the beans to pulling the shot automatically, but you can also choose to make it manual by overriding the automatic mode. The beans are ground directly into the portafilter.
Barista Express does not allow you to set the brew time. Also, it does not have temperature control as the Oracle Touch does.
Due to its semi-automatic nature, the Barista Express offers a few essential functions. It’s not like pulling a shot of rich espresso is a big deal. You have to set the machine’s pressure to apply it all at once. Furthermore, you can adjust the grind amount as well as the filter size to control the volume and intensity of your espresso.
For people who want their machine to set up all the standards to brew delicious espresso, the Oracle Touch only meets the criteria of functionality and ease of use. When it comes to Barista Express, setting up the machine will take a bit more effort. But for optimal coffee tasting, you will have to choose YOUR preferences.
3. MILK SYSTEM
The Winner: Breville Barista Express
A stainless steel steam wand and a finger loop design are shared by the Oracle Touch and the Barista Express. Nevertheless, the Barista Express is a better machine because you can quickly steam milk in the jug by pulling out the steam wand positioned on top of the drip tray.
Oracle Touch users will find it somewhat challenging to do this on their own. You need to put the milk jug on the drip tray with the steam wand rather than hold the jug. Steaming the milk using a steam wand requires letting go of angling control, so some of that control is lost. If you ask any barista, they will tell you the same thing.
However, both machines do an excellent job when it comes to milk texturing quality and temperature.
4. ERGONOMICS
The Winner: Breville Barista Express
On the control panel of the Barista Express, you can find more buttons for greater flexibility. For many coffee enthusiasts out there, it is a dream come true. You can make the perfect cup of coffee. Having control over each and every aspect of making espresso is a wonderful experience.
This steamer includes everything from a high-speed steam wand to a sleek and sturdy burr grinder that has adjustable size measurements along with a fool-proof locking mechanism that holds everything in place.
Compared to the Oracle Touch, this coffee maker is also much lighter. Those who can’t bear a dirty kitchen and wish for a more compact machine will definitely find this one useful for their cleaning sessions.
The touchscreen display of the Breville Oracle Touch looks good, which is a huge plus! However, the bigger water tank makes it heavier and larger. Additionally, commercial machines all have dual boiler systems that make them heavier. The yet intuitive espresso machine, the Barista Express for a home espresso machine, is a great choice!
On the Oracle Touch, the water tank measures 84 ounces, while on the Barista Express, it measures 67 ounces. Additionally, Barista Express is more compact than the previous model at 12 x 11 x 13.5 inches. On the other hand, the Oracle Touch measures 15.4 x 14.7 x 17.9 inches. It is considerably bigger than its competitor.
5. VALUE FOR MONEY
The Winner: Breville Oracle Touch
With Breville Barista Express, a user with experience can get every feature the machine has for a much lower price than Breville Oracle Touch. The espresso machine comes equipped with a built-in grinder, digital temperature control, a powerful steam wand, and a purge function that maintains optimum espresso temperature.
Additionally, you can adjust the coffee bean grind size. If you want a customisable machine, this is a suitable machine for you.
Breville Oracle Touch is priced over four times Barista Express features. However, the Breville Oracle Touch lacks some features that the Barista Express does. Still, it is logical that since it is super-automatic, powerful, and all-around a fantastic coffee maker, its price is justified.
Breville Oracle Touch is a good choice if you’re looking for an easy-to-use machine with an automated system.
Breville Oracle Touch vs Barista Express: Similarities
Breville Oracle Touch and Barista Express have some similarities when it comes to commercial aspects. These machines have stainless all-around steel parts, a conical grinder with adjustable grind settings, and a steam wand for texturing milk.
The machines have a cleaning kit and stainless steel milk jugs, tampers, drip trays, and water tanks. Setting up both machines will take no longer than ten minutes, and you can make your first espresso cup within seconds.
Breville Barista Express Vs Oracle Touch provides the user with ease of use, fast performance, and a durable design.
Quick Rundown Of Breville Oracle Touch BES990
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted. Please refer to user guide or user manual or user guide (provided below in PDF) before first use

- Espresso Machine with precise water temperature: Achieve balanced tasting espresso with the Breville Oracle Touch Espresso Machine complete with a digital temperature control (PID) technology, which ensures the temperature is kept at its optimum range
- Optimal Water Pressure: The Over Pressure Valve (OPV) is a commercial feature included in the Oracle Touch. It also has true low pressure pre-infusion, which gradually increases the pressure to gently expand the grinds for an even extraction.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
