Jura A1 vs Ena Micro 90 is the next espresso machine comparison I will decide the absolute winner of. And without much hesitation, my champion is Jura Ena Micro 90!
The Jura ENA Micro 90 is a superior option since it has 6 programmable coffee specialty, including milk-based ones, and a good milk frothing system that allow you to flexibly create your drinks, from traditional coffee cups to milk-based beverages with less intense coffee.
The Jura A1 features some basic system warnings and can make great cups of espresso or coffee in the morning. It lacks the milk system of the gadget above, though. Thus it cannot provide the same level of convenience that its fellow Jura product can.

Jura A1 vs Ena Micro 90: Differences
Jura Ena Micro 90 wins 2-0 and ties twice against Jura A1. Jura A1 is a proper espresso maker. It just lacks convenient utilities. On the contrary, Ena Micro 90 has everything we should look for: a good set of one-touch beverages, an efficient milk frother, delicious espresso with great fragrance, and silent operation.
One-touch beverages
Winner: Jura Ena Micro 90
Jura Ena Micro 90 boasts a very proper set of one-touch beverages of 6 drinks, including classic espresso and trendy milk-based ones. You can easily brew espresso, coffee, hot water, latte macchiato, cappuccino, and milk foam at a touch of a button. And, like many other espresso machines with one-touch milk coffee recipes, this device decides the espresso-milk order according to the original recipe we know and love in real life.

As for Jura A1, we can only make classic espresso, ristretto, and coffee. And given that it doesn’t have a milk system, it’s impossible to get your hand on a cappuccino or latte without purchasing an external milk frother. So, it’s much less convenient when you compare the presets of Jura A1 versus Ena Micro 90.
Espresso extraction
Tie
With a simple 15-bar pump pressure, this pair has already done a great job extracting rich espresso with attractive crema. All the flavor notes are there. I can taste sweet, floral, and nutty flavors. In general, it’s fair to expect good taste from the pair.
Another plus point for Jura A1 and Ena Micro 90 is that they are equipped with a Thermoblock, which ensures that users don’t have to wait long to start extracting whatever beverage comes to their mind. For example, I generally only have to wait about 1 minute to hit the buttons and get good-temperature espresso shots. I suggest letting them heat for 10 minutes to ensure a higher drink temperature.
Milk frother
Winner: Jura Ena Micro 90
Jura Ena Micro 90 is the only one of the pair that has a milk frother, so there isn’t any chance for Jura A1 here. But, of course, this isn’t the sole reason why the device wins. Jura Ena Micro 90 boasts a genuinely good milk system. It can froth from creamy to dry milk foam for all the variety of presets it offers. It’s possible to adjust the milk volume as well.
Grinder
Tie
Jura A1 and Ena Micro 90 are just like any modern product line of Jura. They are manufactured with an AromaG3 grinder, the latest generation of grinder from the brand after upgrading from the G2 line. And what have I experienced with the G3 grinders?

The AromaG3 is a ceramic conical burr grinder, and there are many advantages to how they are designed. Firstly, the ceramic blades don’t roast coffee beans and maintain the original flavor. Secondly, the conical burr design avoids leftover powder or bits the best, which means it’s very hard for it to jam or damage the blades.
I have brewed with the pair many times, and their grinders have always done a phenomenal job. I checked the used pucks and kept an eye on the efficiency and sound, and every aspect went in the right direction. The evenly ground beans and low noise level please me, and it will be the same for you.
Jura A1 vs Ena Micro 90: Similarities
Check out these similarities between Jura A1 and Ena Micro 90!
Quiet operation
Both devices have fairly quiet operation. They don’t make much noise during the grinding step to the espresso extraction. I believe its due to their AromaG3 grinders, which are famous for being quick and hassle-free. It barely takes 5-7s for a dose of beans to be ground to powder, ready for extraction.
With that said, I want to clarify that the pair makes noise, like any other espresso machine. They simply are quicker on their feet and quieter compared to many devices I have tested.

Alert system
You may anticipate receiving the following notifications from these devices:
- Vacant water tank
- Descale warning
- Misplaced drip tray, brew group, or dreg drawer
- Unfilled bean hopper

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
