Check out the debate of Delonghi ECP3630 vs EC155 for the crown of the best cut-price espresso machine for making cappuccinos. After weighing all the features, including the steam wand, espresso extraction, and design, I can confidently say that I’m happier with the purchase of Delonghi ECP3630.
Both of them have amazing technological features. The EC3620, on the other hand, is made of stainless steel and has a more durable structure. The steam wand is also a little more sophisticated. Amazingly, the Delonghi EC3630 can increase your home espresso-making experience for just a bit more money.
In contrast, the EC155‘s refillable tank is 2 ounces smaller and has a plastic shell. However, this product is more affordable, lighter, and often enough for customers who want a basic home-barista experience. However, its short milk wand will put you in a frustrated state because it’s very hard to work with.

Delonghi ECP3630 vs EC155: Differences
Delonghi ECP3630 wins 3-0 and ties once against EC155. Their espresso performance is similar, but the design of the steam wand on the Delonghi ECP3630 calls for a more ergonomic experience. It also offers a more spacious drip tray that boasts a more durable design.
Brewing technique and espresso flavor
Tie
Delonghi ECP3630 and EC155 employ the same technologies for espresso extraction, and their performance is fairly similar. However, the pair utilizes a 15-bar pump pressure to pull each espresso shot. Due to their semi-automatic nature, I have to flow stop manually when I get a sufficient volume of espresso in the cup.

Also, the pair doesn’t come with an integrated grinder, so I have to pregrind the beans using my BLACK+DECKER. It’s best to use medium-coarse ground with Delonghi ECP3630 and EC155 because they struggle a bit with the finer ground. The flow seems stuck and needs to drip consistently with such a compacted puck.
The result of preparing everything right is delicious and balanced espresso.
Milk frother and milk foam texture
Winner: Delonghi ECP3630
A high-quality frother may significantly influence the outcome of your drink. You can’t get a cappuccino with liquid milk, and flat white is not right with dry foam. Therefore, we need a milk system to better customize the milk texture. After testing Delonghi ECP3630 and EC155’s steam wands, ECP3630 is a much more stable and potent tool.
ECP3630 can froth very airy foam if I maneuver the milk pitcher long enough. In fact, it can make microfoam that most milk systems of machines in this price range fail to deliver. The steam wand is also long enough to get close to the bottom of the milk pitcher, allowing a more comfortable and free movement to bring the foam to the texture I look for. I have been able to make good cappuccinos with this device.

As for EC155, if I use a very moderate amount of milk, I can get quite dense foam to make a latte or cappuccino. However, I’m not impressed by how short it is and how it makes it almost impossible to froth a large volume of milk. I have attempted a few times and can never work with its wand if I put a larger pitcher to work.
Cup size
Winner: Delonghi ECP3630
A wider mug cannot be used on the EC155 due to space constraints. However, the ECP3630 has enough space for one or two cups. Fewer mess results from the strong construction and larger base per cup. Additionally, thanks to the hot water dispenser, you don’t have to worry about removing espresso splatters. The wall between the portafilter and the drip tray may be cleaned with hot water.
Material and design
Winner: Delonghi ECP3630
The ECP3630 has a more contemporary and substantial feel thanks to its stainless steel construction. Since the EC155 is made of plastic, concerns about its fragile and loud body have been made.
Choose the ECP3630 if you want enduring durability. Since it is stainless steel, cleaning is much simpler. Plastic is more prone to attracting dirt, stains, and stink. And even if you don’t use it that frequently, it might seem worn out pretty quickly.
Delonghi ECP3630 vs EC155: Similarities
Check out these simple yet convenient similarities between Delonghi ECP3630 and EC155.
Water level indicator
Only some brands keep in mind this small yet ergonomic feature when they design their espresso machines. Luckily, Delonghi keeps this in their thoughts. Both devices of today’s comparison have a transparent water level indicator that helps users keep up with the amount of water left in the reservoir, so they don’t have to play the guessing game of when to refill the water tank.

Cup warmer
The cup warmers on these models may not be the hottest, but there is a use for everything. I highly suggest giving your espresso cups a few bursts of hot water and leaving the one you will use to brew the second or third shot of espresso on the cup warmer so they don’t drop the temperature. These tricks will help your drinks stay hot/ warm longer, which is a good thing since no one likes cooled-down espresso.

I am Ralph Mason and I am a passionate coffee drinker. I worked as a barista for a few years and since 2012 I have been trying to convince as many people as possible of good coffee.
I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
