Are you a beginner in the world of espresso machines? Check out my review for the debate Gaggia Carezza Deluxe vs Delonghi Dedica! After testing these machines’ functionality and comparing their design, I’m more convinced by Gaggia Carezza Deluxe, even though Delonghi Dedica is one handsome machine.

The front water tank of the Gaggia Carezza Deluxe can be removed from the device easily, producing excellent espresso with a rich crema. However, what I like the most about this device is its steam wand. It froths dry foam with ease in about 40s only. And it comes with a temperature gauge to help users keep up with the temperature performance.

Delonghi Dedica is a truly compact machine with a very modern and simple design. It heats up very quickly and has a wonderful hot espresso temperature thanks to its Thermoblock. However, the device has some issues, like extracting little to no coffee crema and being too lightweight. I will get further into details below!

Gaggia Carezza Deluxe vs Delonghi Dedica: Differences

Gaggia Carezza Deluxe wins 3-1 against Delonghi Dedica. It boasts better espresso extraction with richer coffee crema and a much better milk frother than the opponent by Delonghi. Get to know the details here!

Espresso extraction

Winner: Gaggia Carezza Deluxe

With the same 15-bar pump pressure, these models don’t tend to do things the same as each other. With Gaggia Carezza Deluxe, I enjoy a much more premium quality coffee crema than what I get with Delonghi Dedica. Despite having a very similar flavor performance, I can’t get Delonghi Dedica to give me espressos with the same heavy mouthfeel that I get with the winner from Gaggia.

Gaggia Carezza Deluxe has a velvety layer of crema grazing each of its espresso

This can only be due to 2 things: the grind size or the pump pressure. And since I tested the pair with the same batch of coffee grounds, it’s hard to deny that the main problem lies in Dedica’s pressure work.

Milk frother

Winner: Gaggia Carezza Deluxe

Judging from the milk foam texture that I get from Gaggia Carezza Deluxe and Delonghi Dedica, it has been clear how the former excels compared to the latter. I can visually see a much more potent steam pressure with Carezza Deluxe.

In under 1 minute, I can already get a cup of dry foam for cappuccino or latte macchiato. In about 25s, the texture already gets creamy enough for latte art. And if you froth quicker, you can make a cup of flat white (even though the milk temperature isn’t the best at this point).

Regarding Delonghi Dedica, since its pump pressure isn’t the most potent of the bunch, the milk foam’s texture is very diverse. I can get creamy milk with the device, enough to do latte art. But, the foam can’t get dry enough to make an authentic cappuccino.

Utilities

Winner: Gaggia Carezza Deluxe

Gaggia Carezza Deluxe boasts a temperature gauge that keeps up with the performance of the real parameters to tell users whether it’s the right time to start brewing. It’s very convenient because it’s not always a good idea to start brewing right after the machine finishes warming up. You can’t trust the brewing temperature at that point!

So, with the temperature gauge, you can check how the water’s heat is doing and decide when to brew, if you are content enough with the parameter.

Heating element

Winner: Delonghi Dedica

A Thermoblock system is present in the DeLonghi Dedica. Compared to the steel boiler of Gaggia Carezza Deluxe, Dedica’s technology is more stable in the long run, with water heated to the perfect temperature consistently for brewing superior espresso throughout the whole process.

With that said, both machines heat up very quickly. It only takes about 30s for each of them to finish warming up and getting ready for extraction. The Carezza reaches the temperature to steam milk in approximately 30 seconds after turning it on and is ready for brewing in about a minute. You may grind and tamp the coffee while you wait for the appliance to warm up.

Gaggia Carezza Deluxe vs Delonghi Dedica: Similarities

Gaggia Carezza Deluxe and Delonghi Dedica don’t have complicated features. Instead, they share some interesting small details in exterior design and alert systems that I find worth highlighting. Check out the similarities between them below!

Lightweight design

Both models are lightweight, so they are highly portable. However, this is a double-edged sword. Being so light, these machines struggle to keep the cups from rattling around when they are extracting espresso. This phenomenon is common due to the force the 15-bar pump pressure produces, paired with the light construction. Also, with little pounds on themselves, the machines don’t boast a very secure mounting that can reduce vibration.

Descale alert

Both devices come with a descaling alert. With Gaggia, the alert is straightforward and clear on the main control panel. As for Delonghi Dedica, when the device needs descaling, the light on the steam button will blink in orange.

Quick Rundown Of Gaggia Carezza Deluxe

Gaggia Carezza De Luxe Espresso Machine, Silver
  • Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted
  • FROTHING FOR MILK BEVERAGES: Pannarello wand frothing for cappuccinos & lattes. Wand doubles as a hot water dispenser for Americanos & tea
  • Brewing features: pressurized porta filter brews both ground Coffee and ESE pods. Pre-infusion function pre-wets grounds before brewing for rich, even extraction
  • AUTOMATIC POWER DOWN: The Carezze will power down after 9 minutes of inactivity to save energy
  • FRONT LOADED WATER RESERVOIR: Features a 47oz capacity and pulls out from the front of the machine, water level is visible, and the reservoir is compatible with the Mavea Inteza water filter system
