Don’t miss my verdict of the debate Nespresso Essenza Mini Breville vs Delonghi if you are stuck between the 2 machines! Once again, the 2 brands face each other with the same product line. And after testing their real performance, I recognize Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Mini as the true winner!

The winner Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Mini boasts quite a stable espresso extraction. I can get delicious espresso with velvety coffee crema with this device. Of course, being a small Nespresso machine with very straightforward technology, this model will entertain beginners better instead of avid coffee drinkers. However, if you are on a budget, I highly recommend it as it’s much cheaper than going to coffee shops all year round.

As for Breville Essenza Mini, it also can brew tasty espresso at a low cost. But, this machine manifests noisy extraction and water leaking problem, which isn’t what I expect. But, of course, these problems aren’t generational, so it’s more of each product’s individual error.

Nespresso Essenza Mini Breville vs Delonghi: Differences

Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Mini wins 3-0 and ties once against Breville Nespresso Essenza Mini. It boasts leak-free operation and isn’t noisy when extracting espresso. In terms of flavor, you will be satisfied with what it has to offer. It’s very impressive, especially for its price.

Exterior design

Tie

The first difference that users will be able to notice with the naked eye is the exterior design. While Delonghi has a more triangle shape with an enlarged platform, Breville has a tube-like design with a smaller platform. There is no deciding whether one looks better than the other because it depends entirely on each person’s preference.

Weight

Winner: Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Mini

The Delonghi Essenza Mini weighs 2.3 pounds, while the Breville version is 5.1 pounds. So, the latter is slightly heavier than the former model. If you want a lightweight, portable espresso machine that doesn’t add too much to your luggage when traveling, I highly suggest the Delonghi Essenza Mini.

Leak-free operation

Winner: Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Mini

The first operational problem that I want to address is the leaking. Although it’s not that uncommon for Nespresso machines to leak, it’s not my first time seeing one with the same issue. But, of course, I’m not so happy that Breville Essenza Mini suffers from one. When I fill the water tank close to the max line, I usually get a very messy kitchen counter due to the leaking from the tank itself. It leaks through the bottom of the tank, where the water line connects.

In this situation, I would advise against filling the tank all the way up because doing so could put too much pressure on the water line and result in leaking. Or, simply address the problem with the brand via warranty. That way, you can get a new machine or fix the faulty one.

Noise level

Winner: Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Mini

Regarding noise level, I can confirm that Delonghi Essenza Mini does a better job of keeping the noise low. However, the Breville line produces a louder rumbling sound when it extracts espresso.

Of course, we can’t take away the fact that all espresso machines make noises, including the Delonghi. But it has been much more moderate for me. So consider this when you decide between the 2 devices.

Nespresso Essenza Mini Breville vs Delonghi: Similarities

Check out these 2 major similarities between Delonghi and Breville Nespresso Essenza Mini!

Water tank capacity

Being Nespresso machines, the pair comes with a modest water tank size of 20.3 oz. With that said, it’s more than enough to extract espresso or lungo daily for 3 days before you have to refill the tank if you brew moderately. After all, the biggest preprogrammed cup size is only 1.35 oz. Pairing that with rinsing the machine, I don’t see how the tank can’t last at least 2 days with 3-4 lungos extracted daily.

Brewing technology and espresso quality

19 bars pump is what the Essenza Mini models use to extract espresso. Thanks to the potent pump pressure, I have extracted very rich cups with both devices. It’s rare getting watered-down coffee with this one, and it’s much cheaper than going to any coffee shop. That’s for sure. So, if you are looking for good flavor with a budget, don’t miss this affordable pair.

  • Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted. Please refer to user guide or user manual or user guide (provided below in PDF) before first use
