Thermoblock is the main heating element for both devices. Without a doubt, Thermoblock offers good temperature control, and it helps each higher degree F with better stability, at least theoretically. Advertisements claim that Citiz heats water to completion in under 25 seconds while Essenza Plus does it in 30.
And the real performance of these Thermoblocks? And when I put the hypothesis to the test, I discovered that after around this period of time, I could actually brew espresso or lungo without major issues.
There is a catch, though. These appliances require around 30 seconds to heat up to a temperature that is suitable for drinking immediately but not hot. So I advise leaving these puppies on for longer than a minute or two to get the desired hot temperature if you like a steaming cup of coffee that you can savor slowly.

I also didn’t detect any plastic flavor coming from the machines, which I was initially worried about, given their plastic construction.
However, Citiz produces espresso with a superior texture to Delonghi Nespresso Essenza Plus. It has a greater body and silky texture. Additionally, the crema is creamier and richer. Therefore, even if the flavor of Citiz espresso is theoretically the same as this machine, it is of higher quality.

The water tanks’ capacity and rotary characteristics make using them as easy as ever. Delonghi Nespresso Citiz boasts a 30.4 oz, while Essenza Plus uses a slightly larger 33.8 oz reservoir. Both tanks can be located sideways or at the back of the devices, so refilling them should be easy.
The convenience of the cup support

Citiz boasts 2-tier sup support, with the top one being able to fold and remain vertically attached to the device’s frame. This gives the bottom tier a chance to shine and assist a much taller cup. The best thing is that users can still enjoy a mess-free experience because the bottom tier is attached to a drip tray.
If you look at Essenza Plus, Nespresso Pixie, or Inissia, their flippable drip trays allow users to use a taller and larger cup size as well. But this also means that users no longer have a functional drip tray then. If the machine leaks, this will make a mess of your kitchen table. Therefore, I highly appreciate the foldable cup support feature of Citiz, which is something Essenza Plus doesn’t share.
