Delonghi Dedica Deluxe vs Breville Duo Temp Pro may be worth considering for both first-time espresso makers and beginners. Here’s a comparison between the two, so you can make an informed decision.

In this contest, the winner was the Breville Dou Temp Pro. This machine is easy to operate and ready to use within minutes of turning it on. Even though it is not a high-end or high-priced machine, it still offers desirable functions such as automatic purge and PID. With its pre-infusion feature, you can make sure that every bean gets the full complement of flavor. The device also features a traditional steam wand. The result is that it can steam and pour at the appropriate temperature, similar to a dual boiler system.

Delonghi Dedica Deluxe, in the runner-up place, does a great job as an effective entry-level espresso machine. I like its good looks, sleek appearance, and compact design. The machine is also capable of extracting an excellent espresso by using 15 bars of pressure. In addition to ground espresso, you can also use Delonghi Dedica Deluxe with ESE pods, making it perfect for first-time espresso users. The option to use ESE pods is convenient when you’re in a hurry to avoid making any mess.

Delonghi Dedica Deluxe vs Breville Duo Temp Pro: Differences

In terms of entry-level espresso machines under $500, Breville Duo Temp Pro edged DeLonghi Dedica Deluxe 4-1. Besides its improved milk frothing, durability, and ease of maintenance, this machine offers better taste and flavor in its brewing.

Taste/ Flavor

The Winner: Breville Duo Temp Pro

The Duo Temp Pro produces a quality of brewing comparable to those found in cafe machines
The Duo Temp Pro produces a quality of brewing comparable to those found in cafe machines

The Dedica Deluxe is capable of producing a powerful shot. If compared to the Breville machine, this machine produces slightly waterier espresso. Even so, it remains stiff and of sufficient quality to satisfy the desire for a high-quality espresso cup.

A cappuccino can be made with ease by using the Panarello steam wand integrated into this machine, but the milk doesn’t have the smooth texture that one would expect.

There is no doubt that the Dedica Deluxe brews well, but the Duo Temp Pro does even better. According to my experience, the Duo Temp Pro produces a quality of brewing comparable to those found in cafe machines. Espresso is strong and rich, and it comes out with a nice layer of crema.

This machine’s steam wand can produce nearly perfect microfoam. If you are accustomed to the cappuccino or latte your barista makes for you, you can get a similar drink with this great espresso machine.

Temperature, taste, and flavor are all balanced in the coffee extraction process. This balance has been achieved by using Breville’s digital temperature control (PID).

Utilities

The Winner: Delonghi Dedica Deluxe

+ Programmability

Delonghi Dedica Deluxe provides many programming modes
Delonghi Dedica Deluxe provides many programming modes

There are many programming modes available in Delonghi. Pressing and holding the button allows you to set the extraction time for both single and double shots. You can also set the system to shut down automatically after 9 minutes, 30 minutes, or 3 hours.

Contrary to Breville machines that use a PID temperature system to maintain a consistent temperature, Delonghi coffee machines utilize a three-level temperature control system, including low, medium, and high.

The fact that it can cater to everyone’s different preferences makes it a plus in my eyes. For beginners, its programming ability is a great advantage.

+ Compatible for ESE pods

You can use ESE pods with Delonghi Dedica Deluxe
You can use ESE pods with Delonghi Dedica Deluxe

You can use ESE pods with Delonghi Dedica Deluxe, but the Breville Duo Temp Pro isn’t compatible.

For those of you who enjoy a coffee cup in the morning, but do not want to deal with the hassle and mess of grinding beans, then the ESE pod is highly recommended for its convenience. The pod can be used by inserting it into a portafilter in the same way as usual and then letting the machine handle the rest. The ESE coffee pods, on the other hand, will never match the taste of freshly ground espresso, and will disappoint any espresso maker with extensive experience.

Whatever the case, this is a very convenient, faster, and cleaner method to make espresso-type drinks at home for those who are just starting out.

+ Capacity

The reservoir capacity of Breville Duo Temp Pro is 61 oz, which is nearly twice as much as Delonghi’s. As a result, you won’t have to refill water frequently or can brew more espresso cups before the water needs to be refilled. This also comes as no surprise given their different sizes.

Durability

The Winner: Breville Duo Temp Pro

the Breville looks more high-end, more high-tech, and more professional
the Breville looks more high-end, more high-tech, and more professional

When it comes to the durability of all metals, stainless steel is generally considered the king. It is durable, easy to clean, and has the advantage of being durable, long-lasting, and of exceptional quality!! This material can be found both in the Delonghi Dedica Deluxe and the Breville Duo Temp Pro.

In my opinion, the Breville looks more high-end, more high-tech, and more professional because it is made entirely of stainless steel, from the hub to the portafilter.

I am afraid that if you do not like plastic, then the plastic on the Delonghi’s base may make you uncomfortable. In addition to that, the portafilters are also made of aluminum. That may be a disadvantage. It appears that this may have an effect on the brewing process.

Milk steaming

The Winner: Breville Duo Temp Pro

I personally evaluate that Dedica Deluxe’s milk steaming scored about 6 points higher than average on a scale of 1-10. It comes equipped with Panarello steam wands. There is no control over the way the air is injected into the milk since it is done automatically. WIt’s possible to make a nice foam topping for a cappuccino, but its steamed milk doesn’t quite reach its ideal consistency.

A coffee machine of this quality and price is just going to struggle with this. Therefore, it doesn’t seem like a con. However, in general, this steam wand is not the best steam wand for making microfoam or latte art that’s industry-standard!

On the other hand, the steam wand in the Duo can be rotated 360 degrees to create a perfectly creamy microfoam. With this steam wand, you are able to influence the texture of milk by manually controlling the pressure. This steam wand can be used for more than just texturing milk; it can also be used for dispensing hot water to make other hot beverages.

A professional barista who tested the wand on our behalf noted that this product was easy to use and gave similar results to the results she makes in the cafe. My experience has shown that even beginners can achieve a good milk texture after a few tries. With this steam wand, you’ll be able to enjoy the sensation of latte art from the comfort of your own home.

Ease of cleaning

The Winner: Breville Duo Temp Pro

The Breville Duo Temp Pro has maintenance indicators

With Dedica, the cleaning process is relatively simple. Portafilters build up a relatively small amount of coffee gunk when pulling shots, so they can be cleaned quite easily.

It is also easy to break the steam wand apart into pieces so that it can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Having the ability to throw it in the dishwasher is enough to make me feel comfortable with forgetting to wipe it off a few times and having some buildup.

It takes quite a while to descale. The whole process took 27 minutes. However, I didn’t think it would be smart to just leave the machine alone to perform its function while descaling. This would require constant monitoring.

All the extra cleaning tasks aren’t too complicated for the Duo Temp since it doesn’t have any major issues with water or coffee spills. You’ll know when the machine needs a cleaning or a decarbonization program because it has maintenance indicators.

You can check the maintenance indicator on your espresso machine’s control panel when it’s time to clean it.

While it is also easy to clean and descale in the same way as Delonghi products, Breville Duo Temp Pro also benefits from some additional features. There is an included cleaning kit that helps you to clean each part easily. Not as with the Delonghi, this isn’t a task you have to perform all the time. Another advantage of this machine is that it does not build up milk on the steam wand.

Delonghi Dedica Deluxe vs Breville Duo Temp Pro: Similarities

I have compared both the Delonghi Dedica Deluxe vs Breville Duo Temp Pro as semi-automatic espresso machines, and both share similarities in several aspects.

Compact design

Both Delonghi Dedica Deluxe and Breville Duo Temp Pro have a compact design
Both Delonghi Dedica Deluxe and Breville Duo Temp Pro have a compact design

Delonghi’s small 6-inch width makes it compatible with any countertop. Although it is wider, the Breville measures 11 inches wide, it is still relatively small. These products don’t take up a lot of space on your counter and help eliminate kitchen clutter.

Pressure pump

In spite of the fact that these machines are considered to be entry-level, the Delonghi Dedica Deluxe vs Breville Duo Temp Pro all offer an exceptional experience with enough pressure to extract great flavor from your beans. Each machine has a pressure pump capable of delivering 15 bars of pressure.

Automatic stop flow

The machine can use this feature to determine when the coffee volume is reached so that it can stop providing coffee automatically. As a result, learning how to use a coffee machine for the first time becomes a lot easier with this feature.

Removable water reservoir and drip tray

You can remove the drip tray, and it has a floater that signals when it needs to be replaced. It is also easy to remove the reservoirs. These features make it convenient to clean the machine and refill water.

Cup warmer

Each of these two machines has a top-mounted heating tray so that you can prepare your cups ahead of time. I think that this is a great feature.

With a warm cup, espresso will be served at the perfect temperature, and the crema will remain for longer.
