From the name only, it’s hard to imagine the differences between Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ vs Steam Wand Stainless. But after receiving the devices and testing how they work, I can definitely tell you that the standard Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ works so much better.
The Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ is a simple and affordable espresso machine. It can brew delicious espresso with a very robust flavor and hot temperature. Despite not having a grinder, I don’t consider it a drawback considering how well it performs with its steam wand and espresso extraction. If you want a stable entry-level device, this is the one that you should choose.
As for the Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ with stainless steel steam wand can also brew proper espresso if I use ESE pods. But, if you want to use its grinder to get fresh cups from A to Z, this model might not be the best pick on the market. The grinder is faulty, from my personal experience with the device.

Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ vs Steam Wand Stainless: Differences
Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ wins 2-0 and ties 3 times against the Steam Wand Stainless version. It boasts very good stability in espresso extraction and milk frothing. And the interface is so simple to get a hold of. But, of course, each model has pros and cons, and I will reveal the full details below!
Espresso extraction
Tie
With their PID temperature control and low-pressure pre-infusion feature, I have been able to brew very bold cups with these devices. The technological features are assisted by a 58mm portafilter that can hold more ground for even bolder extraction. Therefore, don’t doubt that you can get very flavorful espresso shots with this pair.

Also, you get to enjoy the efficient performance of the pair’s Thermoblock heating element. As a result, they can brew quite hot cups with a balanced flavor. Unless I grind with the Steam Wand Stainless version, the flavor from this one is never watered-down.
Dose control
Winner: Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ
The Calphalon comes with single-wall filters that hold 1 and 2 cups and double-wall filters that hold 1 and 2 cups. However, both machines offer single and double-shot auto-shot volumetric control. This is because the filter basket of the Calphalon has two walls, not just one.
A pressurized and non-pressurized basket differ from one another. Pressurized baskets are double-wall baskets. They are made up of two walls, as their name indicates. A single wall basket has a mesh wall, enabling very standard and balanced espresso extraction from the grounds.
Pressurized baskets are a common feature of entry-level machines. However, double-wall baskets are not frequently utilized for commercial purposes. One wall basket can do that task.
This feature will appeal to both novice and experienced coffee drinkers since it gives you more control over how strong you want your espresso to taste.
Milk frother
Tie
Both machines’ stainless steel steam wands are reliable and simple to operate for milk frothing. Their angle is adjustable for you to put them into the stainless steel milk container. Both machines come with a milk container made of stainless steel.
The steam wand accurately froths the milk at the desired speed and consistency. As a result, numerous consumers and coffee enthusiasts have come to the conclusion that both espresso machines are the most dependable and high-end options for home brewers based on their overall performance.

Grinder
It´s complicated…
While Calphalon Temp IQ Steam Wand Stainless comes with an integrated grinder, it functions so badly that I don’t even consider it an advantage compared to Calphalon BVCLECMP1. The grinder is very messy. What I do is pluck the empty portafilter in the lever of the grinding well and press it so that the grinder starts working. And even though the bean grounds come out even, the operation is so slow and messy that I don’t find it particularly pleasant.
It will be much better to purchase an extra grinder in this case. And if so, then both machines require external grinders, and no one is better than the other. So it’s better to get the standard version because you don’t have to pay extra for the machine.
Price and value
Winner: Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ
Calphalon BVCLECMP1 Temp IQ definitely boasts better caliber in all aspects. Since it doesn’t come with a grinder, its price is greatly reduced compared to the Steam Wand Stainless version. It brews delicious espresso and is able to froth dry foam for latte or cappuccino art. There is nothing about this machine not to like, including its price range.
Therefore, if you are a novice user looking for a budget espresso machine that is beginner-friendly, I don’t see any reason you shouldn’t consider the standard version of the Calphalon Temp IQ.

I started writing on the barista blog on RepublikCoffeeBar in 2018. It was a pure hobby site and I tested coffee products like coffee machines, beans, mug, and other accessories. After the first year, my blog is becoming a well-known coffee site with about 100 thousand visits per month.
In 2019 I decided to focus on RepublikCoffeeBar only. I became a full-time coffee blogger and was declared crazy by many.
